I really hate Which? for its technology reviews. I'm a subscriber and they're great for white goods etc but when it comes to technology, it's just so frustrating. They don't bother to say when stuff was reviewed or when it came out. If you're comparing models, you need to know when stuff first appeared, because technology moves on so quickly. I'm really disappointed that Which? falls down on this basic point and to be honest I'd also look at user comments anyway.

@ReaganVlogs you get a small tripod included... but i just want to warn you: dont buy the camileo P30, it sux, i got it and the screen is just dangling, often it wont start and the batterytime is weird, sometime it last long, sometimes it lasts just 30 minutes...

@precisethoughts What scaling are you referring to? It records in HD so will play back in HD on a TV and if there were scaling to take place it would be the TV that handled it.

Great review, which I watched in 1080p, but I noticed you didn't remove the screen protector that looks like part of the packaging.

The screen protector made the screen look glossy, but you can see the original screen around the edges, which looks matte.

Hi! Thanks for an answer. Well, if it can't be done (recording in avi) then I'll have to use a converter (already got - ImTOO HD Video Converter).

And AVI format I need because:

a) I need to edit my videos (at least stitch together fragments from the same event) and all my editing programs (VirtualDub, Adobe Premiere etc) work with avi container and not with mov;

b) a HDD-player I use for storing videos and watching them on TV doesn't support mov;

c) I just don't like QuickTime - seems laggy.

@crazykolobok Sony Vegas Pro 9.0c. Best software I've used so far. But my laptop is rubbish (1.6gHz Processor, 1gb ram, 32mb video memory (Windows 7 can't have aero, or run movie maker!)) so rendering a video take AGES!

Get what you pay for, and in this camera 130 quid is prety good ! 1080p aswell. Not so sure on the low light issues though. Otherwise I would buy one.

Why not use the camera being tested istead?

Best would be some real test videos in different light conditions - but the medium light conditions you had there would give an idea about the quality without having to go out and make test shots

Btw - it's better to put the microphone in front of you (for example put it on the table on a candle holder), because you screen off a lot of the high frequencies in the sound when you have it on the shirt (that gives poor audio quality)

The P30 comes with some basic software for uploading to Youtube. As the scenes are all recorded as individual files you can rearrange them in any order you want. As good starting package for video editing is Cyberlink Powerdirector

No, as with all file based camcorders, every time you stop recording and start again a new file is created. The only way to get what you want is to use a tape based system.

thats so funny, I have a Polaroid HD Camcorder that looks just like this. The problem I hate about the small pocket cams are, the picture shakes from side to side when you walk, even if you walk slow. So you need a tripod or stand very still when using this. But the picture comes out great
