They came from the Richest Lib. Dem. family and this is the stone/respect she gets as a aunt?? Libs. love to tell others to give, but what about them selfs? BIGOTS!
the family was not selfish....geez...look what they did for Edie. They kept her from getting thrown out of grey gardens. Jackie, once she found out what was going on there, kept the lights on and water running and the grocery bill paid. Her sons should have but they were trying to get Edie out and into a safer warmer healthier environment. ALL of the Beale's were pig-headed.
I agree with some of the comments on here: the headstones could be fancier maybe surrounded by some stone benches and a small circular garden so that fans could visit and pay homage to these two wonderful souls each year. They may be gone but their spirits live on in the people who felt inspired by them :) Everytime I hear Tea for Two, I will think of these ladies.
At the turn of the century or before ,families of means bought large family plots, sometimes as many as 24 plots. A large cross or oblisk was erected. All of the graves were marked with simple head stones. Families wanted to stay together even in death. For the time, this was not a cheap monument or family plot.
Exactly, the people posting on here trying to say there was some kind of plot to not give Big Edie a nice headstone are so ignorant. Those were the days of family plots, I kind of like it myself.
Little Edie reportedly did not wish to be buried alongside her Mother in East Hampton, and had requested having her ashes scattered in/near the Atlantic. Her remains are interred in Long Island's Locust Valley Cemetery, next to the grave of her brother Bouvier "Buddy" Beale.
She's buried in a family plot, so the larger cross in the background is part of her grave, so to speak. It's decent. The cross is quite large, compared to most stones.

I agree, a headstone would be so nice, considering all the money and fame acquired, the documentary that still sells, broadway and the tv production premiering next month...rip, edies...TEA FOR TWO
lets all pool our money and buy a stone...i mean how much could it cost? You'd think with the way the maysles exploited them they could spring a few hundred dollars for one.
Just one more thing: I agree with boscoe14--the family (Bouviers) should put up a stone for Little Edie. How could they not??? They must be ridiculous people.
Great comment by miskatonic77. Yes, Grey Gardens was never a sad place. The mother and daughter loved each other though they lived in the past. Thanks so much for posting.
little edie is there on the side of her mom. she was creamated in florida and sent home to rest in the most holy trinity cemetery with mother. pitty though that she does not have a stone. her family should be ashamed of theirselves

Thanks for the view of Big Edie's final resting place. God, it's terrible that not one of the Beale/Bouviers has put up a stone to Little Edie.

That stone looks so sad and weathered.
Damn. Grey Gardens may have been flea-infested and ramshackle, but it was never sad.
