I am 24 years old and I think I will be playing this game 20 years on from now. Not since the days of the SNES (mario kart), and the N64 (goldeneye) have I come across a game which has made such a lasting impression on me. Gears of War is my all time favourite multi-player game. It is quick, brutal, requires skill, reflexes and is unforgiving. The perfect multi-player game. Sneaking up right behind some sniping bastard and reving up my chainsaw still brings a tear to my eye to this day.

How is it like knifing? Knifing in a lot of games is usually a stealthy thing, not just charging in head first with a knife. That's what people usually do with a chainsaw.

Another difference is that the chainsaw's got MASSIVE radius and is basically a fucking vacuum, the chainsaw also goes up too fast. Say someone goes to two-piece you. You hold B an instant before they hit you and they're dead because you're too fucking noob to use a shotgun.

I don't try to chainsaw because it shows no skill whatsoever. It takes no skill to hold down a button and let the game target you. People roll by, but they still get sucked into it because the chainsaw locks on and spins you after them. It's cheap, if you want to one hit someone get in close with the shotgun and show some skill.
