The best way to improve the sound of a cymbal is to use it a lot over many years. 8 months in the dirt isn't really going to do anything except make it dirty.
For all u haters burying the symbols changed them I would know cause my dad works there I could name some of those guys in the video and one dudes wife is actually my basketball coach! So for all u people get a life Sabian is a great place I used to visit and walk around the factory lol
So dumb. What a waste of time. What aging occurs in the "Vault"? Is it an ion charged room or have some elemental gas infused into the lathes? A lot of effort and I'm sure cost that's passed on to the consumer.
@WBVIEW im guessing your either 8 years old or a complete dumbass , when the metal is repeatadly heated and cooled the molecules in the metal become very excited , they are placed in the vault so the molecules can calm down making the cymbals more durable and sound better
I'm doing this with my cymbals.I'm endorsed with Soultone.I'm gonna get a "Vintage Ride" and bury it for 6 months..and then Un-earth it!!! Can't wait!!!!!
@GretschDstickSmoke the moisture and nutrients under the earth would change the way the molecules of the metal are bonded together and therefore change the way it sounds
Try reading up on it before you bash it... Although it's extra money, you get a personal invite to the company for a tour and custom made cedar case...
And if you listen, their is a clear difference in sound... very jazzy
Because you failed to read anything before making your comment. We'll see how it goes. They said that because they were not trying to prove anything, and were not experimenting. They kept receiving requests and it came to the point they did it for those who requested. They arent doing this as a gimmick more than they are to satisfy the curiousity of the 100+ people who asked for them to do it, and thus preordered it. They arent trying to market them as theyve already been sold.
Really? How much more exactly? And how do we define "better" then? If it really was a method that was generally accepted as "superior", then we would have nothing but earth-aged cymbals.
There's not worth an extra $500 of things going on there, believe me. The cymbals oxidate like normal, even if they are covered in dirt. They are under some more pressure for a length of time which may have a slight effect on the sound they produce, but then again so would some more extensive hammering.
its not that it costs them 500$ more to manufacture or that the process costs more, but that they only did it with 100 of them. An autographed baseball card is not made of 500$ paper and 500$ ink. The burial aging was requested of them by a niche group of customers, a niche group of customers preordered them, a niche group of customers received them, and now a different niche group of people (with you included) want to criticise them for doing this.
They still have dirt and mud all over. I suppose that the people @ sabian will do a great job cleaning them up... that will improve the sound for sure...
wow i cant believe it has already been eight months!! thats insane. i was waiting so long to finally hear it. the second one you guys showed sounded beautiful, compared to the first one.
