  • meinl and zildjian dislike this video

  • The best way to improve the sound of a cymbal is to use it a lot over many years. 8 months in the dirt isn't really going to do anything except make it dirty.

  • @davidaugspurger /watch?v=AS3izRsM7eY&feature=related

  • O.O *Grabs shovel*

  • For all u haters burying the symbols changed them I would know cause my dad works there I could name some of those guys in the video and one dudes wife is actually my basketball coach! So for all u people get a life Sabian is a great place I used to visit and walk around the factory lol

  • not exactly what i thought when they said "vault" cymbals

  • It sounds like shit... SUCCESS!

  • porque hacen eso ??? con que proposito ?? =/

  • @JmartinRRLP mercadeo

  • ZOMBIE CYMBALS

  • So dumb. What a waste of time. What aging occurs in the "Vault"? Is it an ion charged room or have some elemental gas infused into the lathes? A lot of effort and I'm sure cost that's passed on to the consumer.

  • @WBVIEW im guessing your either 8 years old or a complete dumbass , when the metal is repeatadly heated and cooled the molecules in the metal become very excited , they are placed in the vault so the molecules can calm down making the cymbals more durable and sound better

  • im going to go dig a hole in my back yard and leave my cymbals in it for 8 months now

  • WAY too much dirt at 5:38

  • i cant believe anyone would treat their poor cymbals like this!! :(

  • how about 8 months in the ocean ? !! >_<

what will happen to the cymbals and what would it sounds like ??

  • is there any idead behind it or is it just for fun?

  • @maciekomis there is an actual idea behind it

  • i wish i could bury a cymbal and charge 800 bucks for it..

  • LONG LIVE SABIAN!

  • the blonde who takes pictures is very good

  • I can simply buy one normal and try this at my garden :) but I kknow I will never do that :D

  • WOW AMAZING !!!!!!!! I THINK YOU SHOULD DO THE SAME BUT WAIT 100 YEARS.... THAT SOUND WOULD BE INSANE

  • @xluisle I'M SORRY BUT IT SEEMS THAT MY CAPS LOCK IS STUCK ON PERMANENTLY!

  • I'm doing this with my cymbals.I'm endorsed with Soultone.I'm gonna get a "Vintage Ride" and bury it for 6 months..and then Un-earth it!!! Can't wait!!!!!

  • uhhhh, wtf is burying them 4 ft under the earth gonna do??

  • @GretschDstickSmoke the moisture and nutrients under the earth would change the way the molecules of the metal are bonded together and therefore change the way it sounds

  • awesome!

  • @pantostado7878 fuck you small your penis!!!!!

  • -digger rips through crate destroying every cymbal- Fuck...............another 8 months...

  • @AHerygers1 oh, and they weren't buried deep. They aren't trying to turn them into oil...

  • @AHerygers1 dude. It was buried for 8 months. And they show you the results. It aint no gimmick. And by the way, nobody forced anybody to buy them.

  • would you clean it after, or leave it dirty, just take off all of the dirt clumps?

  • did anyone else want to rip their ears off every time that digger moved

  • my exact words =DD

  • At what point do their faces start melting and the cymbals ascend into heaven?

  • Did they really need a digger of that size?

  • Raiders of the Lost Ark :)

  • thats so nerdy...

  • Seems pretty cool to me.. a collectors item, the type to be framed and put on the wall.

  • clearly the buyers intended on playing them...

  • Try reading up on it before you bash it... Although it's extra money, you get a personal invite to the company for a tour and custom made cedar case...

And if you listen, their is a clear difference in sound... very jazzy

  • Because you failed to read anything before making your comment. We'll see how it goes. They said that because they were not trying to prove anything, and were not experimenting. They kept receiving requests and it came to the point they did it for those who requested. They arent doing this as a gimmick more than they are to satisfy the curiousity of the 100+ people who asked for them to do it, and thus preordered it. They arent trying to market them as theyve already been sold.

  • screw that s***, the box is really the best of it

  • completely agree, this whole pre-aged in the ground shti is a complete load, total marketing gimmick

  • id like the big box they kept the cymbals in lol

  • Really? How much more exactly? And how do we define "better" then? If it really was a method that was generally accepted as "superior", then we would have nothing but earth-aged cymbals.

There's not worth an extra $500 of things going on there, believe me. The cymbals oxidate like normal, even if they are covered in dirt. They are under some more pressure for a length of time which may have a slight effect on the sound they produce, but then again so would some more extensive hammering.

  • its not that it costs them 500$ more to manufacture or that the process costs more, but that they only did it with 100 of them. An autographed baseball card is not made of 500$ paper and 500$ ink. The burial aging was requested of them by a niche group of customers, a niche group of customers preordered them, a niche group of customers received them, and now a different niche group of people (with you included) want to criticise them for doing this.

  • what if the make em lay under water like 100 meters down for a year???

  • i wonder if the type dirt will effect them like what if you buried them in clay

  • look it up duh. its a new way of aging cymbals it makes them sound darker and louder.

  • why did they bury the cymbals

  • if i knew where they buried these i would have dug them up at around in may

  • if i knew where they were burried i wud have stolen them!

  • Wow! Stacey Montgomery-Clark looking Hotter than ever!

  • awsome!petei mitai hou kaka

  • I think i'll bury my Paiste

be a Paiste One of One

  • i buried mine awhile ago... been about a month and a half. we'll see how it goes.

  • Notice how they are all laughing - 'cause they know it's a bunch of hype.

  • Some of those are bent...

  • i wish i found that crate

  • if I bury my sabian B8 i'll get one of those? xD

  • i'm going to bury mine as soon as I get a new ride cymbal to replace it, i've noticed B8s corrode quickly =)

  • dunno dude, but after seeing this im thinking about burn my cymbals XD

  • so true xD I hate them since I got enough money to buy some AAX cymbals :P

  • I might just go bury one of my own in the backyard.

  • sounds terrible :)

  • They still have dirt and mud all over. I suppose that the people @ sabian will do a great job cleaning them up... that will improve the sound for sure...

  • so... they buried 600 $ rides then sold them for 800?

  • More like $300 rides... but, they knew people would buy them -.-

  • $300?

    WHERE?!

  • Comment removed

  • haha i love sarcasm

  • Does it come with a free bottle of Sabian Cymbal Cleaner and Polish? :)

  • 800$ US is a bit expensive for an Artisan ride IMO ... awesome cymbals anyway

  • Sabian and no cymbal stand?

  • i like how it turned out. the aging i guess gave the cymbals a more darker over tone. Making it more of a jazz cymbal in my view.

  • As they said... the idea came from old jazz players ;)

  • why are they underground?

  • Sabian trees.

  • Comment removed

  • nice!

  • Do i get half price if i find cow dung on my sabian cymbal.

  • no, that marinades it :)

  • Then buy one for $300 and bury it in your own backyard for 8 months.

  • Comment removed

  • Nice, Nice, Nice, sooo Nice !!!

  • That first ride they played sounded so good, nice and dry.

  • I didn't realize the time passed so fast!

Personally though, I think It's abit of a gimmick. I'd just go for a regular artisan.

  • This is like a drummers buried treasure! haha

They sound awesome btw, maybe a year next time?

  • This is amazing, great Sound!

  • ...As do the original cymbals you can buy for $300. And how much are these? $800? $500 extra for dirt sounds a little steep.

  • AWESOME SOUND!!!

  • wow..this was a great project! are you gonna do this more from now on?

  • cool :D is it available on the asian countries ?

  • wow i cant believe it has already been eight months!! thats insane. i was waiting so long to finally hear it. the second one you guys showed sounded beautiful, compared to the first one.

  • Actually they were the same cymbal... just with more of the dirt wiped off.

  • I think the first one was still really dirty, the next couple were cleaned off a bit more.
