  • I got my hands on a R154 trans and about to order my swap kit.

  • see if you can put up more videos of your build up. Thanks.

  • where did you get the adapter plate from? Just recently got my hands on my brother's 2006 tundra SR5 with the 4.7liter VVT-i and I want to swap in the Rseries supra trans because I know that it can handle quite a bit of abuse. I like how you wired the lights with the power from the battery to the switch on the tranny...that was smart thinking. How did you fool the computer to always think it was in neutral?? Great job and nice video. Please keep me posted on anymore tranny work u do on this.

  • great video. nice sounding truck. you look good, too! (no offense)

  • i have a 4wd tundra. i like having the 4wd. can i adapt this trans to fit and still have the 4wd? will a newer tacoma trans or fj trans work? can you PM me and ill call you? please lemme know. thanks man

  • @ bowmaster- i would say find a wrecked one? not too sure on that.

  • @ srvanddt- my truck is 2wd, there is no transfer case. I wired reverse lights with power from the battery, to the switch on the tranny, then back to the lights where they are spliced into the old power. I fooled the computer to always thinking it is in neutral, so the fuel and ignition map is the same as drive. (I did this with the old switch on the automatic). I went with the W trans because the adaptor plate for the R was too much.

  • Badass man. Id love to do this on my 02 DblCab tacoma. What trans would you recommend? I know you can pull a 5spd out of an extended cab. Just sucks that you had to special order a 5spd if you wanted one in your doublecab

  • It is 2wd, so I dont have a transfer case. The transmission has a switch that connects when it is in reverse. so i ran power back directly from the pos battery lead and hooked it into the switch then ran the wire back to the reverse lights and spliced it into the old power wire. then grounded it on the frame. I went with the W trans because the R trans is extremely expensive to try and convert and much more rare. so, budget is why. The pedal i made myself with a go cart bearing as a pivot.

  • What transfer case did you use? How did you get the reverse lights to work and how did you fool the computer make it idle? Also why did you go with the W trans and not the R trans? What pedals did you use, V6 Tundra pedals?
