Whats really ironic and strange is that HHH was goin to win King of the ring and get a massive push, but cuz he was being punished they actually gave his push to Austin, who won king of the ring instead and ended up as one of the most poplar wrestlers in history. And despite that HHH got his push the next year anyway. :/
was this a main event?? eg mania? summerslam? in your house? as im now 30 and have been watchin wwf for years would like to download the vid and rewatch this
...Yeah & also Triple H was punished for this incident as well. You ever hear of throwing someone under the bus?...Well Vince threw Helmsley under a TRAIN!! A very long train; making him job on tv from May to about mid November.
Turns out management gave permission to them to do that after the guys asked them if they could do it, but then the other wrestlers got all pissed about them breaking kayfabe so Vince had to show he was doing something about it to keep order.
But it's more to it c these four men were maint eventers nd had booking power nd wouldnt want to put over other wrestlers which pissed sum wwf ppl @ the time off espicaly bret they offered hym a spot n the group but he declined being the kind hearted person he waz.. stories say taker hate hh n rl cuz he came n wwf cocky nd when u got n kliq hated hym but when nash nd hall left respected hym for taking on jobbers for two yrs before being a main event for his punishment
U guys knw nun jus look up the kliq on wikapedia it tells the whole story of the stable they were friends n reality bt at the time they were playing in storylines nd this waz the lazt live event for nash nd hall so out of storyline thinking fans wouldnt knw around the world cuz diz waz a live event the kliq grouped hugged n the ring !
"this didn't mess up subsequent storylines as they were gone the next day you dumb moron."
Then explain WHY they had Glen Jacobs (formerly Issac Yankem & future Kane) be FAKE Diesel & have someone else be a FAKE Razor, knowing full well that the real ones were on rival WCW, about to give birth to the nWo at the same exact moment that HBK & HHH (with Chyna & Rick Rude) formed the original DX.
Back then, kayfabe was a term meant to keep realism between rivalries by making it all seem real. However, though Vince was initally okay with the idea--because he had himself already exposed the scripted nature of wrestling to save money--some senior officials wanted to maintain kayfabe, so they pressured Vince, who then wanted to halt the incident, but still, the four hugged despite their on-screen fueds, anyway. Only HHH was punished, as HBK was champ, whilst Nash & Hall were leaving for WCW.
@reymyesterio1 It was when Scott Hall (Razor Ramon) and Kevin Nash (Diesel) were leaving WWF to go to WCW, but Shawn Michaels and Tripple H were staying, and even though they were baby faces/heels and were supposed to be enemies.. they all hugged in the ring and said their final goodbye to eachother because backstage they were the KLIQ and best of friends, but they broke Kayfabe and back then that was unheard of. Kayfabe being the script/characters of wrestling.
Vince actually gave them the okay for it to happen it was other people like Pat Patterson, Ted Dibiase, etc. that didn't like what happened and that put [pressure on Vince to punish them for that but Nash & Hall left and they didn't punish Shawn because he was champ at the time so only hunter got punished, Triple H actually said they wanted to keep him and Shawn away from each other after this happened, they didn't want them to be friends and hang out after this
@rtfuhj Vince wasn't pissed, well yeah he was pissed when Shawn and Hunter brought it up on Raw in '97 but he wasn't pissed when it happened, he gave them the okay for it to happen, it was other people who worked in the WWF/WWE at the time who were pissed about what happened, so since they were pissed and didn't like what happened Vince felt he had to punish them for what happened but Hall & Nash left and Shawn was champ so only hunter got punished
That hog pin match was punishment enough!!! wonder where you got that from cause i could swear that made vince look like a jackass and he gave them hell when they got backstage!
@rtfuhj they said it on Shawn's DVD and some was said on this video on here if you look it up it's "Triple H And Others Talk About DX And The MSG Incident"
actully if you read shawn's book he even said that mcmahon wasnt angry about it cause he knew that those guys respected the business and did it cause they wanted to give the fans something, the only reason he punished hunter is cause he had to act angry about it to everyone in the back,in shawn's book mcmahon had asked "was that important to you guys" they said yea and mcmahon told them "then it was important to me"
@Njumpman24 During the MSG incident, Shawn Michaels & Scot Hall were on one side with Triple H & Nash on the other side ( according to the storyline). They all were onscreen rivals ( but friends outside the ring). The MSG event was the last WWF event for both Scot Hall & Nash. After Shawn's match, Scot Hall hugged Shawn.. later Nash & triple H too joined the hug (forgetting the fact that they were supposed to be rivals according to the storyline). Storyline breach.. lol.. nothing serious :)
@superpetersuperpeter hey all friends off camera and vince liked to keep it that way to keep the storylines in wwf but on this night they showed that they was real friends inside and that it was all fake
@JohnLemazing It was when everyone in the kliq broke out of character and gave each other hugs and handshakes for reals when they where supposed to be enemies due to nash and hall leaving for wcw. do sum research on wikipedia and other sources. It's kind of like the montreal screw job except it wasnt as horrible. How old r u? You gotta have respect for this era? it took me a while to have respect for this era
"McMahon also did not expect a fan in the audience to sneak a camcorder into the event and capture the entire incident on tape, which was later procured by the WWF and aired on the October 6, 1997 episode of Raw is War"..its on the wikipedia, the "Fan" they are talking about it was the guy who filmed this
Right here is the indirect incident that led to the WWE winning the Monday Night Wars. HHH who was due to recieve a push and win the 1996 King of the Ring was punished for his involvement in this, opening the door for someone else to be elevated, and that man who won the 1996 KOTR was nonother than one Mr Stone Cold Steve Austin, who in his victory speech delivered his famous "Austin 3:16 says I just whipped your ass" for the very first time, leading to what became the Attitude Era, thanks HHH.
@Gdanc1 because triple h and shawn michaels said bye but they went against there script and triple was gonna win 1996 royal rumble but this inncident costd him it
What a great farewell to Diesel. To be Sweet chin music'd by his best friend, who was in the pinnacle of his career and the champion too. "Beware of dog? Nah... beware of The Kliq!"
wow to think if this would have never happened stone cold would have never got pushed because triple was supposed to get pushed at king of the ring 96 but he was punished for this
its funny how things like this create the future for wrestling
@thejaygoon6 This was Hall and Nash's last match w/ WWF b4 goin to WCW to do their NWO thing. Nash, Hall, HHH, and Michaels were suposed 2 b rivals on TV and the ring. But they were best friends. Their little group was called "The Clique" bhind the scenes. So at the end of this match they all hugged and shook hands fuckin up Vince Mcmahon's future storylines. Their celebration at the end was not planned and Vince was pissd!
Shawn was the WWE champion. Nash and Hall were leaving for WCW. So the only one who could get punished was Triple H, so he was reduced to a long time mid-card status. Eventually, for putting up with it, Triple H regained Vince's respect..
check out ICWpresents's YouTube channel to see Impact Championship Wrestling matches.. including Low Ki (Kaval), Tajari, Eddie Guerrero, Xavier, SATs, Homicide, Amazing Red, Jerry Lynn, Christopher Daniels and much more
oh these were the good old days when wwe wasnt as stupid and corny as it is now with john cena. They fired nxt rookie daniel bryan for pretending to strangle an anouncer with his tie this show is getting cornier by the day
damn... u dont know what this is? This is from 96, MSG house show... it was right before Scott Hall and Kevin Nash left WWF to go to WCW and they got together at the end as a cliq and did their fairwells together, HHH got in trouble for being out there but i guess he was a part of it as well.
what i really want to know is..y they always show this video. did wwf buy this kids video recording from the cheap seats? on the hbk dvd, they showed nash and hall's entrances from this event (where they were chanting sellout to them) SO Y THE FUCK DONT THEY EVER JUST SHOW CLIPS OF THIS OR THIS MATCH. IT WILL DRIVE ME INSANE. ITS ALMOST 15 YRS LATER.
with all the programing they got INCLUDING MSG CLASSICS, maybe im wrong and this has been shown. can someone answer my questions????
@jmhardysdx look it up on wikipedia, too much to explain in a comment. In fact if you ever have a queston about somthing just look it up on wikipedia. great site.
The group was composed of Michael Hickenbottom, Kevin Nash, Scott Hall, Sean Waltman, and Paul Levesque. In 1996, The Kliq broke character at a house show at Madison Square Garden in an incident referred to as the "Curtain Call", an event which affected the WWF's subsequent storylines and development.
@codeman494 They broke kayfabe....to break story line. Triple H was the only one punished....he was a jobber for years after this.....needless to say Vince was pissed
@joizzy87 Triple H was hardly punished, he won the king of the ring the following year and collected the intercontinental title soon after in 98. The guy was given a pretty big push.
i truly believe this shoot tho sparked the monday night wars...nash and hall created the nwo, triple h got suspended at KOR allowing austin to win (without austin wwf would not have been able to compete in the monday night war, let alone win it), dx was the big team for wwf and invaded wcw and said wcw was holding hall and nash "hostage"...boda-bing..u have the monday night wars
The end of the match Kafabae is broken when Hall Nash Michaels and HHH hug and shake hands in the ring. This was because Hall and Nash were on their way to WCW.
one of the reasons HHH is where he is now. the other being married to Stephanie McMahon and he knows the business extremely well and what the fans like.
yep.....first of all look up the kliq on wikipedia....it was made up of shawn micheals...kevin nash....thriple h......123 kid..and scott hall....these guys influenced outcomes on matches and pissed of alot of people.......long story short....what fatman 06 said...theses guys wee huggin in the ring at the end of the event in the middle of the ring...they werent supposed to...HHH was a heel and the rest were faces
scott hall and shawn michaels hugged because scott hall was about to leave for WCW which was ok because they were baby faces at the time, but triple h and kevin nash joned in, and at the time they were villians, so it broke kayfabe.
no, the BEST thing about knowing wrestling is not real is suspending ur disbelief like u do when u watch a movie and pretend its real, and they make it realistic for the most part...thats the magic of watching professional wrestling, combine these elements and there is nothing like watching it..
as you can see triple h was the only guy who got suspended at the king of the ring because of this , and stone cold steve austin took his place and rose to fame with that , Austin 3:16 says i just whooped your ass.
ok so it was kevin nash and scott halls last night before leaving to go to wcw and after a match between triple h and nash scott hall and shawn michaels came out and the four of them shook hands in the middle of the ring and had a real nice moment but they completly broke charecter to do it and vince saw it as promoting wcw shawn michales was the champ at that time so they kept triple h out of main event matches for two years the guy paid his dues like no other wrestler ever has
And I would think the audience knows the make-believe factor in this. They're not stupid. When the Clique embrace, I think they know they're watching 4 of the best guys in the WWF.
you might have a point right there, but maybe they did because dirt sheet writers were present on house shows, especially on WWF's "home" MSG, and also in 1996 the internet was just blooming and they could have very easily reported the incident on various web pages
Vince wanted people to believe in wrestlings good guys and bad guys, and he was okay with this. But he didn't think they would take it this far and make one big group hook in the ring + someone had a camcorder in the arena.
the rockers won the tag titles from the hart foundation in 1990 in fronts of tens of thousands also but that didnt stop them from never acknowledging the title switch....

@codeman494 They broke kayfabe....to break story line. Triple H was the only one punished....he was a jobber for years after this.....needless to say Vince was pissed
joizzy87 1 year ago
@joizzy87 Triple H was hardly punished, he won the king of the ring the following year and collected the intercontinental title soon after in 98. The guy was given a pretty big push.

i truly believe this shoot tho sparked the monday night wars...nash and hall created the nwo, triple h got suspended at KOR allowing austin to win (without austin wwf would not have been able to compete in the monday night war, let alone win it), dx was the big team for wwf and invaded wcw and said wcw was holding hall and nash "hostage"...boda-bing..u have the monday night wars

@hiphopguru81
Ya and because this was a house show and not a live event or televised event, the WWE can't claim copyright to the video.

NeroZero2009 2 years ago
The end of the match Kafabae is broken when Hall Nash Michaels and HHH hug and shake hands in the ring. This was because Hall and Nash were on their way to WCW.
fatman06 2 years ago 2
So they weren't supposed to be there? o.o
NeroZero2009 2 years ago
Wiki the video name. tells you everything.
one of the reasons HHH is where he is now. the other being married to Stephanie McMahon and he knows the business extremely well and what the fans like.
leprechaun81atx 2 years ago
Plus HHH was a heel and back then heels and faces were supposed to act like they didn't like each other.
bareavis 2 years ago 2
yep.....first of all look up the kliq on wikipedia....it was made up of shawn micheals...kevin nash....thriple h......123 kid..and scott hall....these guys influenced outcomes on matches and pissed of alot of people.......long story short....what fatman 06 said...theses guys wee huggin in the ring at the end of the event in the middle of the ring...they werent supposed to...HHH was a heel and the rest were faces
nwa6 2 years ago
scott hall and shawn michaels hugged because scott hall was about to leave for WCW which was ok because they were baby faces at the time, but triple h and kevin nash joned in, and at the time they were villians, so it broke kayfabe.

The greatest thing about wrestling is even though everybody knows it's fake, it's still fun to watch.
rwalden2007 2 years ago 13
no, the BEST thing about knowing wrestling is not real is suspending ur disbelief like u do when u watch a movie and pretend its real, and they make it realistic for the most part...thats the magic of watching professional wrestling, combine these elements and there is nothing like watching it..
HardActionWrestling 2 years ago
as you can see triple h was the only guy who got suspended at the king of the ring because of this , and stone cold steve austin took his place and rose to fame with that , Austin 3:16 says i just whooped your ass.

can somwbody explain what happened
XxRollinstonexX 2 years ago
ok so it was kevin nash and scott halls last night before leaving to go to wcw and after a match between triple h and nash scott hall and shawn michaels came out and the four of them shook hands in the middle of the ring and had a real nice moment but they completly broke charecter to do it and vince saw it as promoting wcw shawn michales was the champ at that time so they kept triple h out of main event matches for two years the guy paid his dues like no other wrestler ever has

And I would think the audience knows the make-believe factor in this. They're not stupid. When the Clique embrace, I think they know they're watching 4 of the best guys in the WWF.
MrTrent 2 years ago
i was there that night and remember thinking that even though they broke kayfabe it was still awesome.
Misguidedchildren 3 years ago
i dont see why such a big deal was made of . this. its not like they did it on tv or pay per view
nwacompton181 3 years ago
you might have a point right there, but maybe they did because dirt sheet writers were present on house shows, especially on WWF's "home" MSG, and also in 1996 the internet was just blooming and they could have very easily reported the incident on various web pages
tmbttes 2 years ago
Vince wanted people to believe in wrestlings good guys and bad guys, and he was okay with this. But he didn't think they would take it this far and make one big group hook in the ring + someone had a camcorder in the arena.
palshede94 2 years ago 4
they did it in front of front of tens of thousands of ppl tho..

the rockers won the tag titles from the hart foundation in 1990 in fronts of tens of thousands also but that didnt stop them from never acknowledging the title switch....
