However, though Vince was initally okay with the idea--because he had himself already exposed the scripted nature of wrestling to save money--some senior officials wanted to maintain kayfabe, so they pressured Vince, who then wanted to halt the incident, but still, the four hugged despite their on-screen fueds, anyway. Only HHH was punished, as HBK was champ, whilst Nash & Hall were leaving for WCW.

@reymyesterio1 It was when Scott Hall (Razor Ramon) and Kevin Nash (Diesel) were leaving WWF to go to WCW, but Shawn Michaels and Tripple H were staying, and even though they were baby faces/heels and were supposed to be enemies.. they all hugged in the ring and said their final goodbye to eachother because backstage they were the KLIQ and best of friends, but they broke Kayfabe and back then that was unheard of. Kayfabe being the script/characters of wrestling.

Vince actually gave them the okay for it to happen it was other people like Pat Patterson, Ted Dibiase, etc. that didn't like what happened and that put [pressure on Vince to punish them for that but Nash & Hall left and they didn't punish Shawn because he was champ at the time so only hunter got punished, Triple H actually said they wanted to keep him and Shawn away from each other after this happened, they didn't want them to be friends and hang out after this

They all were onscreen rivals ( but friends outside the ring). The MSG event was the last WWF event for both Scot Hall & Nash. After Shawn's match, Scot Hall hugged Shawn.. later Nash & triple H too joined the hug (forgetting the fact that they were supposed to be rivals according to the storyline). Storyline breach.. lol.. nothing serious :)

Right here is the indirect incident that led to the WWE winning the Monday Night Wars. HHH who was due to recieve a push and win the 1996 King of the Ring was punished for his involvement in this, opening the door for someone else to be elevated, and that man who won the 1996 KOTR was nonother than one Mr Stone Cold Steve Austin, who in his victory speech delivered his famous "Austin 3:16 says I just whipped your ass" for the very first time, leading to what became the Attitude Era, thanks HHH.

Their little group was called "The Clique" bhind the scenes. So at the end of this match they all hugged and shook hands fuckin up Vince Mcmahon's future storylines. Their celebration at the end was not planned and Vince was pissd!
