I just want to comment on the thermohaline circulation bit and the possibility of an imminent new ice age: while it's true that it seems to be theoretically possible for the circulation to be altered in this way, and that this has indeed likely happened in the past, it should be pointed out that the contention that this could happen in the near future is controversial among climate scientists. Potholer54 did a great video on this just the other day: watch?v=kmECHrOcFlc (his latest on this topic)
