The Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ) 809[890].ART.90 (20), makes it clear that military personnel need to obey the "lawful command of his superior officer".... Military personnel also have an obligation to disobey Unlawful orders, including orders by the president that do not comply with the UCMJ. The moral and legal obligation is to the U.S. Constitution and not to those who would issue unlawful orders, especially if those orders are in direct violation of the Constitution and the UCMJ.
all this former soldier admitting to crime,my question is should'nt we charge them murder? all i know is, my unit we follow ROE. I bet if the military was to start prosecuting this people, they will suddenly disappear from the media.
@totoynani143 Then you first have to start prosecuting the people who commanded this illegal and false war, Wich is the people of the Bush administration who have made millions of dollars from the blood of young poor men.
hey read, i dont think our intentions were to "kill civilians" as you put it. maybe you should have gotten a more accurate account by asking the people that were their with you what they recalled about your accounts and how they interpreted them. being under all of that stress, people tend to see the same situations a lot differently.
@raulportal portal, you're crazy holmes, I never said anyone's intentions were to "kill civilians" - i just explained that war is shitty, and the result of it, inevitably, is that civilians get killed, servicemen get killed, maimed, wounded, etc. and because of all of this and because its all inevitable in every war, there better be a damn good reason for the war in the first place. in the cases of iraq and afghanistan i am no longer convinced that there is a good reason for either.
- I wish all the US & Coalition soldiers would do like the IVAW soldiers who dare to stand up against the LIE.
-Instead the GWOT FANATICS deliberately LIE to themselves & tell themselves they are doing the "noble cause" But inside they know EXACTLY how wrong they are. They just seek to avoid the SCARY painful GUILT. That is what DENIAL is all about.
-There is nothing noble about the USAggression except for the NOBLE, innocent people and civilization they are wiping out before our eyes.
