  • it started off really nice, but disc 2 sucks. i mean, if i wanna read a book id rather buy a book. not a game. so xenogears deserves a 6 for mediocracy

  • That is incredible! Thank you for sharing your story. For me, I first played the game in the final dungeon at my uncle's house before he sold it. Later on, I regret not asking him more about it. It is a very powerful game for me. It's a shame their budget ran out before they finished it. It was still done very well for what it was. Very close to perfect in my mind. I wish there was a sequel or re-release, and that the team hadn't separated. Restored pieces always makes me cry a man tear or two.

  • I have spent so many hours looking for this video. I think it's such a wonderful story and it didn't really sink in except a few days after I watched it for the first time. By then I had forgotten how I found it and sort of regretted not favoriting it. I have since (this must have been months ago) sporadically searched for Xenogears on YouTube and Google, trying to find this. Now that I finally found it I'm going to favorite the shit out of this video.

  • I've seen your video 4 times, because, i like your story with Xenogears so much. Xenogears is a great game, the story line, i think is one of the best of all time, i felll in love with that game. The first time that i played, i liked it, but i didn't understand many parts of the story, you know, is very complex, plus, english is not my native language. After years, with a better english, i beat the game again, and WOW, i almost cry. I can't describe all that i felt with this game, is perfect.

  • i was born in 1998

    officially the best year ever

  • Man, there are many, MANY freelance artist, from street to hire that make replications of paintings for dirt cheap (considering the end product, I mean). I really encourage you to be very bold about going about it and approach anyone you can get in touch with. Just think about having that on your wall!

  • Xenogears is one of the few games that I will admit to crying real tears at the end.

  • Interesting story Derrick. That's what makes us love these games so much I think is the journey behind them. I mean there are always going to be games that are going to appeal to us because of a certain taste we may have but the journey that lead us there is what it's all about and that's what makes us love something even more in life. Great story man, i understand now why you love this game so much. I will complete it one day as well man.

  • Great story mate!

  • Thats an awsome story for an awsome game.

  • Great story man. Its amazing how playing a game at the right time in your life can have such a big affect on you.

As far as Xenogears goes. I still own my copy that I bought from FuncoLand circa 2000/2001. It still has the FuncoLand white stickers on the front of it lol. I bought it without the original case and manual. I heard about it from my favorite video game magazine Next Generation.

  • Love hearing your story. I always remember my childhood friends whenever I play this game, never thought this game would be my most favorite of all time as I was skeptical of buying it since I was not really a fan of RPGs before. I bought it just because my friend insisted me to try it and I'm happy I didn't end up getting frustrated. Btw if you don't mind, they'll be releasing a new Xenogears arranged album soon. You can watch it here watch?v=350qXLzCUBM

  • great memories Derrick, Xenogears is a great game, and I wish I still owned a copy of it, but sadly I lent mine out, and never got it back. That was really nice of him to let you watch him play it, I have so many memories of old video games!

  • I wish this and Parasite Eve would come to the European psn, but i doubt it :(

  • Great video, and great stories! I would probably be unable to survive without video games for more than 2 or 3 weeks, so I don't know how you did it for however long you were console-less in college :D Good story about your wedding as well.

  • Hehe, I still do that even now. I get a burn copy of the same game, but I never play my sealed/mint copies of Valkyrie Profile along with any other games that I treasured.

  • Good story Derrick.... Great memories of a great game... Looks like i'll be playing it on the PSN as I dont have the funds to be buying that game anytime soon... but very interested story on how you witnessed the game randomly when a guy was playing it... and $150 for the game and guide was a hefty but worthwhile decision in the end it seems...

  • That's some great memories you have there, I've never played Xenogears but it sounds like I'll have to check it out. It's really cool that you danced with your wife to one of the songs from Xenogears. I'll get it once it goes onto the Playstation Network.

  • Great Video. I love Xeno Gears.

  • I had a very similar story with Xenogears, but for me I had a friend that had Xenogears and they were already in the second disc. I only saw it get played once and fell in love with it but when I had gone over again, my friend had already traded in the game because he had already beat it. really agitated me that I never saw the ending I should really go back and play it haha. You brought back alot of memories :)
