good video mate ,,, good luck in your music life,, overall cool ;) ... one question pls .. do you use ''speed mechanics for lead guitar'' there for your students ? .. thx .. cause i think it's a must for every guitar player ;)
Thanks for the comment. We do use the book as part of the core text material here at the music school. though SPEED MECHANICS,as you know, is not the type of book you go through example#1 - 100,.. we weave it in and out of the other lead books. And you right, it is essential. Thanks Again, and good luck to you.
Yes, the backing track is from Paul Hanson's SHRED GUITAR, it is just one of the books our heavy rock guitar students work through here at the music school. It is an excellent extention after completing Stetina Lead 2. Thanks for the comment!
Oh yes, I understand, I didn't think you were being critical; nonetheless, it brings up a good point. It would probably be a good idea if on the next round of solos we present, if we go into some deeper detail as to exactly what the students are demonstrating, beyond their fancy finger skills on the fretboard. Thanks for watching!
The key changes makes it a lot more interesting.

free, improv solo that he composed..isnt that an oxymoron.

LOL!! Yes, taken out of context, what would be an oxymoron, and sound very funny indeed!
The solo, as presented, is composed and arranged into the solo you see here, from ideas created in his earlier freely improvised takes on the solo.
The "good bits" are saved, re-written as needed, new lines composed for continutity, and the whole is arranged into its finalized form.
The approach is just one of about three dozen basic solo construction strategies students explore in their studies here.

I am glad you cleared that up; I was thinking the same thing, lol
Incidently, David Gilmour uses the same technique to compose his solos.
