  • DMB's Lillywhite Sessions are probably the best work from the band, IMHO. SUCH a great album!! I used to listen to it in college all the time.

  • 1This is a revelation from Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show his servants the events that must soon take place. He sent an angel to present this revelation to his servant John, 2 who faithfully reported everything he saw. This is his report of the word of God and the testimony of Jesus Christ.....?

  • For God Sake: When is this version from? AWESOME!!!!

  • FACT: You can find an actual studio recording of this song (changed up just a little bit) on Carlos Santana's album, 'Supernatural'. It's a little bit different from The Lillywhite Sessions version, but still VERY VERY good. The song is called "Rain Down On Me". It still features Dave singing on it and Carter on the drums. Carlos guests on the electric. In my opinion, I think the version on 'Supernatural' is one of the best I've ever heard.

  • john the revelator is a old ass song. my grand mother used to sing it out loud back in the day. its crazy how tht song got around to all different genres. this version of the song sounds incredible, and is mostly different from the old gospal version but i love it. is tht carlos santana doing leads? sick.

  • @mshaman86

    Pretty sure it's Warren Haynes.

  • @hallacek No it's Carlos Santana.

  • I sooooo wish this song was put on an ultimate greatest hits of DMB album..thatd be the best!

  • @catchacuda99 they can't make an album big enough to fit all the songs!

  • Oneishness Cookin-Healin

  • Oh boy, "Who's that Man? John the Revelator...of the Seven seas." Thanks for posting. Dave sounds quite bold here. Simply Golden.

He sings this with Lovely Ladies on one his "Live in Folsome" Colorado 7-11-01.

  • @jmrmet21 JTR and John the Revelator are the same thing people, he changes lyrics every once and a while in a lot of songs if you havent noticed

  • WOW!!! that's an AMAZING version!!! thanks for posting

  • anybody else agree that early JTR rocked way harder than the new version?

  • JTR effin rocks!

  • Come on Come on OVER!!!!

    This song is a jam

  • cus santana is playing in it you dumb fuck

  • why the hell would u think thats santana its got dave matthews writtin all over it

  • because most likely that is santana playing the electric guitar, this song was only played full band 5 times and santana guested on it 4 times

  • jtr has been played full band alot more than 5 times guy, ive seen it 3 times.

  • FACT: the the name of this song is John the Revelator. It has been played 5 times in the history of the band. Later, John the Revelator evolved into a similar but different song which Dave titled JTR. JTR has been played almost 100 times. maybe more. unless you were at several concert in 1999, I doubt you have heard this song played 3 times.

  • i meant jtr, but yeah i have seen this song once, in 99, smart guy

  • u mean that u heard the song. seeing it is impossible. u might have seen it played. but theres a difference.

  • @lpdude1010 Your so damn literal, and i fuckin love it!!!! dave rules!! better than you!

  • @mdbguy9 you do know, John The Revelator wasn't written by Dave Matthews..

  • obviously someone has never heard santana play with dave

  • is that santana?

  • yes
