  • Leg kicks willl never fade, they hurt so bad and they knock you right off balance.

  • Very nice!

  • when brian kicks, he sounds like he's sneezing

  • 240p....we meet again!

  • I like that heel hook you demonstrated, it seems relatively simple and very effective

  • You guys are so awesome instructors! I've seen like every vid of you here and on DCMMA, just great! Think it already brought me a bit further in my Muay Thai, just by watching you guys ;-) If I ever get the opportunity to visit the US, I'm sure gonna get a glimps at your lessons. Keep up the great work!

  • @xAdventxChildx, thank you very much. That's a very kind compliment and we appreciate the support, but you don't need to come to the US to learn our system. You can get a subscription to DamageControl, com where we share everything we know. It's a great way to help us keep this project rolling and learn all our favorite tricks.

  • @TakingItToTheMMAT teaching ppl who really want technically sound/accurate advice, so impressed, regardless of the time frame as to when this video was created. Thank you for your expertise.!!

  • everyone of the vids i have watched have beutiful and efficient technique....when can i come train with u ! haha

  • im really impressed with wat u guys show. keep it up!!!!

  • jheeze, getting kicked by that guy would probably improve my technique

  • @2StepMurder he sond lyk he is sneezing=p but its cool training wif this sort of pads

  • Really good video. I'm a pro kickboxer so that kick catch defense technique was really interesting. Its easy to push a guy off with your shin or spin out of the hold if your opponent is wearing boxing gloves but with mma gloves its a whole differnt story. I would only try this if I was going down and in mma the odds are that you will get taken down if you're facing a strong grappler. Thanks for sharing.

  • How much a month?

  • every time he kicks it sounds like hes snezzing

  • In old Muay thai, if you kicked to the head, they would cut your leg off

  • sick!

  • That was a really freaking cool move. You guys always seem to come up with new and creative ways to counter. Always enjoy your work. Thanks, guys.

    Peace.

  • wtf, less kicks? Are you kidding?

Aldo vs faber = All about kicks

Shogun vs machida = more kicks

Sanchez vs penn = cut from a kick

GSP vs Hughes = too hughes down with kicks

I can go on forever...saying kicks aren't that much of the game is fuckin stupid.

  • @2StepMurder

    took*

  • @2StepMurder,

This video was published over two years ago and was shot probably three years ago. All the fights you mentioned occurred after that and in no way established any trend. You've mentioned 4 fights, statistically, those 4 represent the exception not the norm. But keep on kickin!

  • @TakingItToTheMMAT

So I should mention old fights?

    Ok...explain Mirko Cro cop.

Hell even Royce gracie's horrible stand up consisted of kicks

I don't know if you're saying I should go back three years, and mention fights then. But I don't think kicks were ever gone, or fading.

  • @2StepMurder

You know 2StepMurder, you're right. You probably know a lot more about this stuff than I do.

Keep on kicking and have a great life!

  • @TakingItToTheMMAT

No no, I'm sure you do. I mean you're probably right, no kicks is whats doing it for top MMA fighters these days.

  • @2StepMurder He must be from a wrestling background. When it comes to Muay Thai or punching and kicking power in general, Some people got it, some dont. Everyone can learn how to sit on someone!!! lol

  • his kicks would shatter your ribs. no questions asked. fantastic technique.

  • thanx. i like throwing body kicks personally. and i always pull half gaurd like that if they catch it and drive. never thought of pushing under for heel hook.... half gaurd was fine for me with jiu jitsu backround so i didnt mind risking the takedown for body kick... but still not a great spot to land in....... this heel hook is nice and i will defintily work it into my training. great job.

  • Wait, why loose? It would make life easier to have them loose, but I want to know the benefits of it.

  • great videoss keep it up guys!

  • This is a perfect video for your youtube homepage. The information on pad handling is beneficial to all martial arts and the detail of instruction is a perfect introduction to the quality of your videos. Keep up the great work guys, and Thank you!

  • I would like to train here, but l am in Lithuania and l take Kudo Daido juku. It's MA, and l like it alot. :)

  • Ha! Soon it will be possible. We are about to launch a members area of our official website: DamageControlMMA. We will be offering exclusive instructionals that start from the basics and work up through advanced techniques, tactics, drills and theories. Be sure to come check it out!

  • Do you teach Krav Maga? If you do, can you please post some vids? Thanks in advance. Godspeed!

  • u guys kick ass. thanks.

  • Very good kicking and hold thai pads techniques

  • when that guy kicks he leaves himself too open

  • how do you figure that??

  • he itchhh,,, ?

  • When you kick in thai boxing you land with the lower shin on the thai pads, but does this mean you kick your foot past the pad so your shin hits? I've been having problems with my foot landing on the pads, and not my shin. Should i kick further? any advice would be a help. Thanks...

  • I had the same problem, now, before I kick, I just step in a little futher towards the pad and I hit the pad with the shin..

  • i solved that problem in the begining by kicking bags, but in an exaggerated way, i started off practising where a kick would almost be like a roll upon contact, where i can feel my shin hitting first, then "rolling" to the ankle. however this method is not entirely correct, but it allowed me to grasp how to kick at a correct angle, and after a while, i managed to do it on the pads. it's very exaggerated, but as you go along you'll correct yourself, it worked well for me.

  • bless u

  • Nice demo. I am just starting to learn Muay Thai under Dan Rawlings here in Tampa. We also train Gracie Jujitsu and MMA and your demos are very helpful.

    Thank you.

  • excellent technique in his kicks

  • Nice vid!! Good kicks by Brian, good technique. We use a similar kicking drill at my gym except we go up to 5's and then back down, 5 sets of those, definitely a killer!

  • Thanks StackMo1, join us for exclusive new content, videos, articles, discussion and more at our new website:

We hope to see you on our website soon.

  • thank you for all the instructional tapes. this is very useful advice. One question I have, is in jiu jitsu we're taught that it's very dangerous to post your arm when being taken down. Isn't that element present when transitioning to the heel hook from the leg catch?

  • those kicks are real Muay Thai, not the kickboxing and adapted thaiboxing kind of style...

  • whats the difference?

  • hehe wen brian kicks it sounds like hes sneezing

  • HAHAHA!!!! so true...

  • great video thanks!

btw, brian yamasaki..any relation to the yamasaki referees in the UFC?

  • good stuff, I like the details on the heel hook

  • Thank you, hopefully everyone here will learn to actually hold pads properly, the worst thing is a person that holds the pads wrong.

  • I heard that.

  • Dude, this is brilliant. Imma use this in my training for sure.

    Thanks again!

  • Seriously i dont get how he bends his leg in between there.

  • I'd like to see that guy kicking more pads. Looks like his technique is top notch. For MMA I think that leg kicks are very underrated. A hard leg kick as a counter is very effective, and leaves a brief opening to follow with a wide arrange of other attacks. Plus, to the body, I like to use a round knee instead of a kick. I feel that even if they catch it, it does enough damage to make them regret the catch.

  • Your guys' videos are always top notch I have yet to see something come from you guys that I disagree with. Keep up the great videos it's really appreciated

  • I like that heel hook counter, I have always tried dropping that leg to the floor and clinching, so they can't hit... purely defensive. That is a slick move to turn a very defensive position into an offensive advantage. Thanks !

    _/\_ <--My bowing hands.

  • Finally someone true to the technique. You are a breath of fresh air. Safely explaining how to hold pads and with an amzing kikcer to demonstrate.

  • Great video Guys, Thanks!

  • Brian and Brandon -- excellent job! Very informative and helpful.

  • This is a great video.

  • This is a great video. Thank u for sharing.

  • I like everything here but the heel hook is wrong.

  • why bro ...i agree some times this work ...i work this lock alot with my students so we work under and over locks ..explain more ?

  • hey im a pro my bestfriends amatuer we train and all cause i have a televised fight coming up but he is a wrestler and my base is bjj we now have thai pads and good power mitts my thai is good but i was wondering if u could tell me some drills to really work our power and speed..my kick angles are pretty sweet tho
