@mastertheifable while you're " go stab my eyes out now" in reference to pirillo's video " I want to buy a monitor" why don't ya finish the job by paying someone to drop off your fingers. that way we'll be spared of your fucktarded, pointless incoherent comments. piss off troll. if ya dont like Pirillo's videos DONT WATCH. it's THAT simple=COMMON SENSE.
What a crappy list of tips. With a modern IPS panel, which typically has a response time measured at 8ms, nobody but perhaps a competitive gamer will notice any difference. You don't need a TN panel for gaming today.
IPS or PVA panel is the way to go unless you just want a cheap piece of crap. CRT's have their points over lcds but overall modern LCD monitors are going to be sharper and more pleasing to the eye, as long as you don't get a cheap pos. Resolution is king.
to be honest, some monitor's color is different from each other. apple could be better that dell and dell might be as good as hp, so it's not the bezel on the front that is different
Dead pixels don't and shouldn't annoy anyone because you generaly dont sit that close to the screen. I know this because your eyes would be foused on the whole screen not just a small section.
@chrisparks100 Way to reason out a physical problem. It very much depends on if its a dead pixel, stuck pixel, how many, and where on the screen. Some will fade out unless you look at them, some are right in your face.
The HP w2338h, I haven't had a single problem with it (well I had a dead pixel but I fixed it using a screen protector) and that monitor is just perfect for me.
If you want a big monitor, you can't go wrong with an LED HDTV. I recently bought an LG 32" LED TV for about the price of a 26" PC monitor and quite honestly, the TV looks amazing. 120Hz refresh rate is about double that of a typical LCD computer monitor and allows for 3D viewing especially in HD or BlueRay signals. Make sure however that your video card has an HDMI connection since TV's run digital signals off of HDMI or Digital cable connectors (which vid cards don't have).
A good monitors does not make a better computer user. A refresh rate of 8ms and under is not noticeable, a refreshing rate of 60hz + on a lcd is not noticeable either. What matters is color deph. I use a 22 inch standard lcd monitor and I program / play / listen to movies everyday, while my cousin got 2 x 24 inch monitor and he dose'nt know or use it's computer has I do. Either way 2x 30 inch is just bling bling for me, use a better overall television and connect a pc to it.
i have a old 15" Azura T1c7 CRT Monitor running on Nvidea Gforce DDR and 1280 x 1024 Res!and also running on 128 bit XP with a AMD Semphron 2400+ 1.60GhZ prossecor on a AWRD Computet with a 500GB Hardrive, also running Linux 64-Bit as a Alt operating System!
not made of money , but hes got two 30 inch lcds , a 700 dollar computer chair , two macbook pros , and not to recently bought a mac pro and put 16 gigs of ram in it .
that doesn't sound like something a guy like me who makes 6.50 an hour could afford .
i made a mistake myself of getting a 20" Acer monitor that had a recomended res of 1680x1050 and i currently have an agp card that does support both vga and dvi but a max res of 1280x1024 will this look good on the monitor enough to just use for a week or to befor i get in my 8800gt???? i dont have it yet it is being shipped i hope so though i kno the vid card i am gettin will go up to this res with no problems =D and cant wait to get all my stuff together
I have a Samsung 225bw that I surf the web, use other applications with and right next to it I have a Samsung 61 inch DLP with VGA input that I game on with resolutions up to 1920 x 1080. i'm so glad that i bought it for gaming and watching HD. pretty cool that you can change from one monitor to the next in just couple clicks and move a rollable desk to the TV for gaming. after gaming on the huge 61 inch, i'm never going back to small monitors.
I only have a crappy Dell 1702FP 17" LCD monitor. I had a 12 inch white CRT for 6 years until recently when I got this one for $100. Poor guy, poor family, can't afford much.
Dell dont have great support, I bought a dimension e310, 3 days after out 3 year warenty went out, the hard drive broke, they told us we couldnt get a new one so we had to spend 100$ bc they give shitty hard drives.
When my laptop monitor was broken i had to use a external monitor from my home comp. It lagged a lot. Its not my computer or video card it works fine on my home comp.
I think a widescreen monitor can significantly improve your productivity when you are using software like Visual Studio or Photoshop which have too many palettes or panes.
yeah i think itll be ok cuz i got a 50" plasma tv and i t has VGA ports so i can hook up my laptop it looks reaaly good , no blurry or anythin you just gotta change the resolution to make it look good :)
I believe thats a stuck pixel, not a dead pixel. Not to take anything into my responsibility, but try maybe pushing lightly or a little harder than normal on the pixel on your DS when it's on, and see if it goes away. Dead pixels are black I believe, stuck pixels are colored randomly.
good point, i just bought a dual monitor 2 x 19 in monitors, one has a purple dead pixel... however, i live on a small crappy island and the shop is on the mainland. grrrr!
I have a single tiny stuck pixel on one of my secondary lcd's that I bought cheap that annoys the heck outa me, I'm almost ready to throw the thing in the trash just for that, if I didn't need it so badly. lol Stuck pixels are the worst!

Dead pixels are bullshit. If they are such a rare occurrence, then the manufacturer should take responsibility for them and replace the monitor.

ms = miliseconds. 1000 ms = 1 s
That means that the less ms - the faster and that's good, speed is always good.

The Apple Cinema displays arn't the same! They have a built in iSight webcam, and a built in microphone!!!
Apple and Westinghouse make the best displays.
WindowsAndMacintosh 2 years ago
the lower class dell monitors have a warranty that will only allow you to return if less then 6 dead pixels appear.
however the upper class models come with 3-year ''premium panel garrantee'' so if even ONE pixel they will return it no questions asked!

If I have a 1440x900 17" laptop, and I want to dual screen with a 22" 1680x1050 monitor, will windows get distorted as I drag them across?
Thanks for any help

unfortunately thats because they havent ben updated in a couple of years. Hopefully, after WWDC that will change! (plus apples look the best!)

Um. Yeah. That's pretty much the mentality of most Apple users.
See, Dell manage to make things that look decent (look at the 3008) but are also priced correctly and functional too.
