this is why he got second... and its a good thing too...
there was a bet, and people wanted to see how well he could do by not yo-yoing, nor practicing for one whole straight year. thats why you can literally see those mistakes... and he lost by less than 1 point... thats amazing
Shinji came out with some really difficult tricks because I think he felt that if Koji competed he wouldn't win with anything less. Too bad Koji didn't compete that year because Shinji would have won with a more conserverative freestyle.
Not taking anything from Takuma because he was much cleaner, but to say Shinji stuff was ordinary thats just crazy talk. The stuff he threw into his freestyle is insane. Love the last 40 secs or so from 2:48.
xaykogeki. (Though he won Japan Nationals this year). I think the last time he competed in a non world contest, besides this year, was Japan National in 03.
Shinji seemed to think he had it in the bag. I think he is one of the best out there but he just didn't seem to have the desire to want it. He's won so many, he may have thought he had this one too. His mistakes hurt him and takuma's routine had some difficult tricks and they were done well. Sorry to see you lose shinji, you have a good streak. Hope you step it up next year.
well to say the japannese got us beat in mostly 2a and 3a kinda in 4a and 1a and 5a even though they all got 1st place but im sayin that the japanese mostly win but most americans are better at 5a and kinda 4a and
1a like im sayin they kinda have more ppl doin it and more of them are more skilled than others not to be offensive thats just my opinion lol ;)
Theres a couple of things that do into the matter off winning worlds though:
-Desire:
Shinji didn't really crank up his tricks like he usually does, showing more presence than usual. I do not though, maybe its just after watchin him 100 times.
-Deducts
Takuma played it smooth, and had very difficult tricks he had control over. Shinji in this freestyle kind of rambled on doing just "point racker" tricks
@jack661999 He's good, but i have seen better.

Has anyone ever added martial arts moves to their yo-yo routines? That would be cool -- flying kicks and stuff.
sarahatfield 3 years ago
i know koji yokoyama, did a kind of... tangler-ish leg-wrap combined with a jump kick
or something like that.
look for a jump kick in his 2007 routine.
