  • awesome!

  • what kinda manfrotto monopod did you use?

  • outstanding

  • holy crap this camera is just outstanding--- im looking for a good camera for capturing footage and not only pictures... is their any better one than this? i especially love the sharp mode (background not sharp foreground sharp etc)!

  • @PhilippeFreestyle in this price category to 1.5k

  • great stuff, what is your work flow for uploading to youtube? codec and container?

  • @rubent100 export directly from your editing software -- do a simple h264 encode and never go above 720p

  • @ZackLuye why never go above 720p?

  • @JRTET21 - 720p is the highest resolution this web video players will allow/play well. If you encode any higher you will experience bigger file sizes and unnecessarily long load times.

  • gorgeous stuff

  • I'll give you 5***** for this video..........

  • Great Music, complements everything

  • what iso were you using?

  • Nice Vid...just got the 7d today. Took some footage and realized I needed Cineform Neoscene to transcribe the raw footage to avi to be able to edit it with a reasonable preview. raw. Also I shot images in raw and there is no adobe raw update for Photoshop cs4 extended that will as of now open the native 7d raw file...WHAT THE !!!...I used my Canon 50mm 1.4 for video and in low light it is AMAZING. So I can't wait until adobe comes up with a raw update for the 7d.

  • What is "bokeh" I see people saying it but what does that exactly mean?

  • Bokeh is the aesthectic look/quality of the blur in the out of focus areas of the image. Bokeh is most visible in background highlights.

When talking about "good" or "bad" bokeh it comes down to the amount of aperture / f-numbers. The simple explination: Circles are preferred over polygonal shaped bokeh.

  • Ah, thanks so much! I really wanted to know what that term meant. :)

  • I like it. I also just bought a 7d. I have the kit lens, but was considering buying the 50mm 1.8 for an upcoming night shoot in Nashville. The bokeh looks good. Would you recommend that lens? It's only like $100, right?

  • If your expecting a real 50mm feel, you may want to purchase a 30mm lense or 24mm. With the crop sensor on this camera, that what it will equate to.

  • The 50 1.8 looks great and is amazing for its price point. That being said, you have to take the 1.6 crop in account. In all honestly, I have found that compensating with camera placement does very well. I'd look into the 35mm 1.4 - abit pricey, but your result will stun you. cheers.

  • What should I make sure I have before purchasing this camera.

Do I need a fast computer to be able to edit and render the footage? I hear the bitrate is pretty low, so I figure nothing extremely fast.

All I need basically is a CF reader to plug in to my firewire, right? Thanks!

I almost pushed the purchase button yesterday, but then took a step back to thinkg about it.

  • @fourth1000 This is late, but you can always capture clips directly from your camera using the provided usb cable and any image capturing software on your computer. That said, it helps having a quick computer. Rendering this footage will annoy you otherwise. You will not be disappointed, get this camera.
