Several 500 series trains have been reduced to 8 car sets. They also now run at 285km/h maximum on Kodama runs. N700 trains have taken over most Nozomi services.
@nadnerb2k I was questioning the logic of using the 500 series for Kodama runs, I was not doubting the video. I could tell it was a Kodama run because it was overtaken by a Hikari Rail Star. It just doesn't make sense to me why would they do that?
@4izm0v I 100% agree with you there. You'd have to ask them, I have no idea! I mean they still had some Nozomi trains being run by 300 series sets - why use 300 series on nozomi and 500 on kodama??
That's 186mph, right, or is it more?

Kodama runs? The 500 was designed for speeds up to 300km/h making it faster than the 700.
