  • Why isnt he looking at her? Is that on purpose?? Amazing song<3 where is this amazing entertainment these days?

  • OMG, was this really 37 years ago...but, but, it was just a few months ago...no wonder I don't watch TV any more (quit in 1998)...nothing today can touch this simple duet...

  • @dumboldon 37 years ago??? You need a calculator.

  • im so sad that she cant sing bcuz of her surgery years back. if only she could sing like that again :(

  • Geeez! These are such iconic and gigantic, awesome singers! And extinct species today.

  • Andy is known in may countries as 'dead eyes' great voice, but totally emotionless in his on stage efforts.

  • Forever a classic of music on earth and in heaven.

  • My two favourite singers.... <3

  • Oh my goodness, the only time I've wished I was bi...

  • adorable

  • This show was performed on my Birthday!!!

    BRAVA~!

  • うめえええええええええええ!!

  • When I see this I think of only one thing.....

    1960 - 2011

    A BIG DIFFERENCE!!

Why couldn't this cute and clean thing continue if you know what I mean?!

  • @TheKikijasful 'they' call it progress......and 'They' are wrong

  • Divine song! Divine artists!!! Better times, better and more pure people. =(

This is the America I love.... not modern Western excreta.....

  • @TheKikijasful God two perfect people.

  • Superb!!!!!!!!!

  • the best voice I've ever enjoyed listening

  • Song is actually not by the Previns but is from the French musical IRMA LA DOUCE, music by Marguerite Monnot, original lyric by Alexandre Breffort, English lyric by David Heneker, Monty Norman and Julian More. Show was a tremendous hit in Paris, London and New York, beginning in 1956 in Paris, London 1958, New York 1960.

  • If this is in 1964, that means it was before Sound of Music was made!

  • This warms my heart. I wish people could be as intimate with one another as they used to be.

  • The name of this song is "The Language of Love" - Music by Andre Previn, Lyrics by Dory Previn from the Motion Picture "Irma La Douce" starring Jack Lemmon and Shirley MacLaine.

  • Sometimes think Andy Williams is underappreciated. He's in the same singing talent caliber as Sinatra. And both of them sounds amazing here.. no lip-synching here boys and girls.

  • Just beautiful

  • Does anyone know the name of this song? Thanks!

  • She's wonderfully British!

  • These are two of the greatest performers ever. This clip confirms my argument that there was more quality TV programming available 45 years ago with 3 or 4 channels than there is today with 200+ channels.

  • this is what i call real music and real talent!

  • What a per, and what a song now this is singing at it's best

  • WOW! Is this some kind of music channel show during that time?!?!?!!? WOW!

  • @spiritfired Nope, There were not any "music channels" back then in the 60s, THIS is what America watched on a weekend night on one of only 4 broadcast networks with the whole family comfortably huddled around the RCA Victor or Motorola, or some other US made television! This was real entertainment by two beautiful people at the peak of decent American culture. It was a different era son, one the youth of today would hardly recognize. Glad you are at least able to relive it here.

  • It's an absolute treasurer to be able to appreciate and enjoy this master piece w/ two (2) legends at the top of their game. In my opinion this is the best duet I've ever listened to and watched... two total class acts off the charts and it made my day to see it. Don't forget to share it w/ your friends!

  • Beautiful voices !

  • A perfect collision of Anglo-American Waspish goodness...

  • At the time of this performance they were both married. I think this was either '64 or '65 and both in the midst of huge stardom.Andrews to Tony Walton and Williams to Claudine Longet. Ironically, Andy had met Longet stranded on the side of the road experiencing car trouble and offered assistance. She was on her way to a Vegas performance as a dancer. For Julie, '64 and '65 marked the years that the two great classics Mary Poppins and Sound of Music were released, the rest is history.

  • language of genuine music

  • Were they single when they shot this?

  • @PinheadOrPatriot o yes i miss the good ole' days

  • I wish I could turn back the Hands of Timeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee...

  • what can we say..............two beautiful people singing their true hearts out.........

  • pure class!

  • You can see they like each other. Both wonderful.

  • uk and usa just love...

  • Qual o nome desta musica????

  • language of love

  • @dianaosilva Muito obrigado ... much obliged

  • such a lovely classic!

    very sweet :-)

  • lyrics anyone?

  • This was great! I LOVE Julie Andrews!! So classy

  • a true classic.

  • Two perfect voices. God is so proud of their instruments, he allowed them to share it with us.

  • @safetyjdp No doubt about that... :~

  • @safetyjdp just ruined this for me

  • さすがに、上手なお二人ですね。

I LOVE BEAUTIFUL SONGS VERY MUCH!!

  • can anyone tell me where to get the lyrics of the song? can't find it.. nice song. love it. thanks

  • @crusoe2102 The song is from the musical Irma La Deuce (1960). You can find albums on ebay or amazon. The lyrics are on the inside of the album.

  • nice chemistry and nice song... its a perfect match - julie andrews and andy williams!

  • great pair

  • The color of the set makes their blue eyes pop! LOL! Their voices blended perfectly!

  • When they do this song, I can see how real pros do the many things the voice coach said to do.

    Syllable "la" in word love

    Don't clench the jaw

Have in your mind the image behind the lyrics and it shows in your eyes,

    the list goes on

  • WOW -ANDY IS ONE OF A KIND -MR. RESPECTFULL ROMANTIC HOTTY AND JULIE ANDREWS -WELL WE ALL KNOW --SHE IS THE REAL QUEEN OF ALL QUEENS--#1 TRUE FIRST CLASS LADY-AKA====

BOTH-YESTERDAY-TODAY-ALWAYS-ALL MY LOVE TO THE BOTH OF THEM

  • It's so good to have them in a video despite the time...they are a wonder. thank you Antofazzi for this ethereal gift.

  • i love the classic slender beauty of julie andrews and audrey hepburn :)

  • So lovely x

  • This was when music was international. No Rock only, Rap only, R&B only stations.

  • Two of the best singers on the planet, it must be so heartbreaking for Julie to have lost this gift.

  • Nice!

  • 2 that will never be found again.

    Both legendary!!

  • I was 15 and studied in a Catholic high school in the Philippines when this show was aired and I had just seen Julie Andrews in the sound of music and I love her.

  • Ah breathe taking & simply beautiful. Thanks for sharing.

  • Love Julie Andrew's vocals, pair it up with Andy Williams = tremendous!

  • Wonderfully beautiful duet.

  • Beautiful people, beautiful voices, beautiful eyes.

  • they are great Thank you

  • This, ladies and gentlemen, is what happens when you blend the sounds of an angel and the sounds of a golden voice. God bless both Andy and Julie!

  • 10 people listen to Justin Bieber.

  • It's true that in USA one doesnt hear romantic music nowadays..But I watcht Italian TV & Music is very good..romantic, funny...There's many kids talent shows as well as adolescents, grownups & veterans of yesteryear..Ciao, Adios, Bye Bye..Long Live Good music! VIVA MARIA!

  • Wow I love them ^O^

  • did he say i'll punch your chin???

  • @Xytos

I'll touch not punch loooooooool man

  • @Xytos "I'll punch your chin ..... and when you get up, I'll punch it again" That's exactly what he said. What a poignant moment.....

  • Where oh where are the songs of yesteryears! Such decent songs of innocence and decency!

  • What strange is today is 11/11/10 Veterans Day and this video is on 11/11/64

  • @TheJazzlady40 I know, that's what I thought!

  • @elvisobsessor i was born on the day this aired

  • When I first saw you all my dreams came true

My dreams came true because you were smiling...

  • Julie Andrews so kind and lovely woman in her every movie and so the real life I think... I love her so much! And I wish her good health and long life! :) She deserves it!

  • So amazing. I loved them both in my childhood and to this day I know they were both amazing in their heyday. So magical!!!!

  • there's sth terribly romantic about this <3 sigh...

  • Aww I feel all gooey inside!

I love Julie Andrews! She's so English haha

  • Very, very nice!!!! Those two sound beautiful together!

  • @cannuckistan Filmed when America was not just great but innocently romantic. Now it's a mindlessly jolly carousel.

  • Hey why listening to good music make you smile dreamy?!

  • Compare to most of the music now a day when they said love they mean sex nothing at all no time for understand each other,no time to look in each other eye and understand by heart without word.

  • this is why people watch videos 40years old,... cos this is TALENT...............

  • does anyone know the composer to this song??? trying to find the lyrics.

    thanks!!

  • The natural talent still out there, and the beautiful people too, but you can't see them because you're mad.

  • The talented is out there, and the beautiful people too, but you can't see them because your mad.

  • Two voices can´t fit better together, what a wonderful duet!! I love the scene, when Andy behaves like a real Gentleman at the end - the time, when to have class was cool! Also cool to see, Andy is still great today...

  • I can't even come up with the words.....she is amazing. Andy not bad either!

  • @rickardo004 Guess you were not there eh punk? In spite of all the dramatic change and dangers, the 60s were still a wonderful time and space to be alive in; still better than today. You can always at least leave the U.S. if you are here, and go live your cynical life elsewhere. Let the rest of us continue to remember and enjoy our musical heritage among other things.

  • These days Stars have to be 12 years of age when they start shaking theyr asses for our enjoyment.... has this world become a pedophiles market where people over the age of 30 have no room except in the "oldies pile" in a supermarket?

  • her face is so inspiring, music sounds from the heaven! i think it;s a magic..i just want to forget about today and live in that old fantastic moments of the past

  • Julie Andrews had such an amazing voice! Sound of Music is still one of my absolute favorite movies ever!

  • I absolutely love it...amazing!!!

  • Where's the sex, where's the random skimpily dressed background singers, the flashy camera angles, wierd clothes and clwon make-up and synthesisers....it's almost as if they give a shit about quality and integrity and pureity of voice? Wierdos!

  • @JackRabbitSlim well, fashions come and go.

  • @JackRabbitSlim I think what you're saying is that with these two performers, it was all about the song, not about themselves. By putting the song first, they honor it, and, in doing so, bring honor to themselves as artists and performers. Too often, today's entertainers (I hesitate to call them artists) put themselves first, last, and everywhere in between, the song be damned.

  • Hubsch!!

  • My two most beloved voices in a Duett

    Wonderful so Wonderful....

  • fab!!!! andy is as always great, but julie is to typicaly english!!!!!!!

  • wow... their voices together are magnificent.

    that was brilliant.

  • Age of Innocence !

  • back when people had natural beauty.

  • @alalalaalalala11 Yes you are so right, but as long as there are people that like us that have a heart & soul there is a chance that one day we will go back to being like we were in these times.

  • Dos geniales y talentosas voces un duo vocalmente

    fuera de serie

  • We do still have values and talent, but television is the cesspool. So glad I don't have it, but have youtube instead.

  • Two amazing singers, and one awesome song, you cant beat it can you?

  • omg she is so amazing

  • It is absolutely beautiful, isn't it? :)

  • oh my goodness Julz was SO skinny back then =O

  • So this is when America was great? For whom? White Male Republicans? It sucked for many black, Hispanic, gay and other minorities, and lots of women who didn't play the subservient role. Just because this kind of bland entertainment was on TV doesn't mean the country was better.

  • @Hunterunc This time period is when the men were men and the women were women. Now young men wear their pants with their underwear showing as a signal that they are sodomites. We have our young women parading around with their jeans so tight for the purpose of excentuating their labia. Rock and Roll and rap in their purest forms have been the most destructive musical genres of this society. You are either a liberal, black, queer, or a bull dike.

  • One of the most adored singers :)

  • Andy Williams admitted later in life that he had been desperately in love with Julie Andrews at this moment.........

  • Somewhere along the line--and I'm not sure exactly where, but I'm willing to bet it's happened steadily as we've let go of God and our morals--we became complacent about seeking excellence--in education, in the arts, in ourselves...EVERYWHERE. And this is the result, that we don't have real talent hanging around like this anymore. Instead of Julie Andrews and Andy Williams, we get Justin and Britney. And a bunch of others, like Kanye West, Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga...etc. smh

  • So, in my grandparents' day, they had the privilege of experiencing this on prime-time television.

In my day, I have the _____ of experiencing Lady Gaga.

Serious question: did popular culture always change this radically this quickly?

  • just a big big smile on my face :)

  • Yes, it Cesspool.

So, what are WE going to do about it?

People used to write and call the FCC

of what's on TV, now they don't so we get Crap,

and Stupid Real TV and Gang Rap on the Radio.

    Love,

    Teri

  • @teri2166 And stop accepting weak substitutes for real talent. We need to raise the bar on what we call "excellence" and stop accepting anything that falls short of it.

  • two great singing leagends singing togeter is just pure magic

  • too beautiful and romantic..and innocent...I wish we had that back now...so need it...that innocence, ah yes..!

  • I am breathlessly awaiting the cover version from Justin and Britney.

  • she is gorgeous. and he sings like an angel.

  • Real talent and musicality, very natural and COMPLETE CLASS.

  • Just enchanting and so, so nostalgic!

  • Two beautiful people with equally beautiful voices! Where has this natural talent gone?

  • I'm afraid it's gone the same way as real ladies, gentlemen, and variety shows.

  • Comment removed

  • @MissArithe lol there is natural talent now...come on!...:D...Josh Groban...Jason Mraz...those are two i know of...

  • @MissArithe AMEN! now we have Miley Cyrus and Lady Ga-Ga YUCK! need I say more?? LOL!

  • @MissArithe GONE WITH THE WARS AND HOSTILITY AND KILLING OF TODAY'S ERA..HOW MUCH DO WE NEED TO CRY IF ONLY THIS TIME RETUTN BACK..IF ONLY TEARS COULD HELP...

  • @MissArithe Oh how much I agree with you! I also don't get what's going on - why years before there were really talented people on stage and on the screen, and all we can see now is only some non-classy, fake and talentless stuff?

For me the time when this video was made were Hollywood's Golden Era.

  • @MissArithe what about U2, Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga? oh yeah hang on I see what you mean ha ha

  • @MissArithe Down the toilet. I miss music like this, I think that's why I am stuck in the forties, fifties when it comes to music.

  • Why comment if it is vicious in light of gems like this. What a wonderful clip of two great artist in their moment. It brings back a lot of good memories for me as a young teen.

  • And after she'd played on stage the part of Eliza in "My Fair Lady" :D

  • Traumhaft

  • great duet i agree with most of the comments on this video

  • @facialfetus The way blacks were treated by some especially in the south was so inexcusable and should never be forgotten However we are trying to grow up as a species and we have made so much progress. America has faced this tragic unfairness head on unlike many other ethnically indigenous nations, without shying away. Even though there will be those fools who prefer racist division. I'm embarrassed by much of the worlds disgusting history but encouraged by the progress we continue to make.

  • filmed when my grandma wouldnt be allowed to sit in church where she wanted to

    because it was "whites only"

and she was a woman of color.

not so great for some americans.

    nevertheless, awesome duet.

  • @facialfetus Why couldn't Granny sit in church? I did not know churches were segrogated...knew restaurants and bussess were, restrooms and the military(until vietnam) but churches?

  • Churches were race specific in that blacks wanted and had their own churches as did whites. That sort of segregation by choice is different from the segregated public accommodations which was the offensive segregation.

  • Ironically, although society has become much more integrated, CHURCHES are still extremely segregated.

  • Why are you so offended by what someone else has to say?

  • Simply put, and thank you!. Why people find it always necessary to vent their inner racial or otherwise, turmoil and foist it on the rest of us, is beyond me. Just enjoy the video and stick with that! Get BEYOND that crap, maybe you can then have some peace in your life.

  • May I know the title of this song? Thanks

  • i LOVE LOVE LOVE the color julie is wearing! especially with her beautiful blue eyes it just looks gorgeous. blue always does her pretty face justice.

  • Fabulous. Words can't do it justice.

  • He should have married this woman instead of the Vegas showgirl.

Andy & Andrews --- has a nice "ring" to it, doesn't it?

  • Filmed when America was great.

    Now it's a cesspool.

  • filmed when TV was for showing talent.

  • When people use to have self-respect, good manners and fear to God.

  • America is not a cesspool! It has been hijacked by the New World Order, illuminati, shadow government, call them what you will. But REAL AMERICA WILL RISE AND BECOME A TRULY GREAT NATION AGAIN. Many millions are waking up to the deception, and when the majority of people awaken & take back their country, then the USA will return to greatness and it wont wage these illuminati manufactured wars anymore but it will embrace all other countries, regardless of creed, in friendship and co-operation

  • @cannuckistan yeah... great and racist
