Absolutely. GM had an itch to bring back a name from the past at about the same time, and gave it too much of a modern style and look, and pretty much pissed off 90% of the people willing to give it a shot by the name alone: the GTO. I love the '04-'06 Goats, but I can see why people don't like it. So I certainly attribute the rebirth of the Camaro and the Challenger with their retro-future styling directly to the success of the the '04-up Mustangs.

Pontiac as a brand might be getting the axe, which is why they didn't really focus on that. If Pontiac sticks around, they might bring it back. I also heard rumblings a while back (like shortly after the concept was released in '06) that if the Camaro does well, they'll bring back other similar cars on the same platform, such as the Chevelle. Here's hoping that's true. I mean, who doesn't love a '70 Chevelle SS?

im actually a chevy guy but im going to stop you on your ill-informed comment. the camaro v6 runs a 14.6 quarter mile as the mustang runs a 13.5 that means the mustang is over a second faster in the 1/4 mile than the v6 camaro. read the other comments on this video about horsepower not meaning everything. the camaro SS runs a 13 flat which makes it only a half a second faster than the mustang GT.

Edmunds, motortrend, and the official Chevy site have the V6 Camaro at 0-60 in 6-6.1 seconds. I think that is good for a V6 and is a great car. But comparing to the 0-60 4.9 second V8 mustang doesnt make much sense. Especially when suspension and handling come into play. Check out the official video's and key in on the handling section. Both good cars and the V6 is more than enough for most people especially with dealers asking 3-9k over msrp right now.
The Z28 is on hold at GM right now. The SS and RS are in production now and pre orders are being built. Fan boys will say anything. the Camaro and Mustang are both great American Cars. the major review sites are out and the facts are here. the SS does 0-60 in 4.6-4.7 seconds. The 2010 Mustang GT in 4.9. The 2009 Mustang GT in 5.1. The Challenger RT in 5.9. All bone stock. If your that concerned with speed then mod your car. Most buy for what they like. its their money.
Not sure if the Z28 is official defunct yet, but GM is having a hard time making a case for it because of the bailout. Congress wants GM to build hybrids and other economical types of vehicles, so GM is having a hard time getting a go ahead for the Z. But, if they can sell enough V6 versions, I bet they'll build it. After all, if congress wants their money back they need GM to be competitive with their rivals in every segment.

Well it started as an LT (about 24K) the wheels are 4K (28K) red halo headlights. Maybe 1K (30K) The Ground effects kit- 2K (32K) Plus the special badging. about 200 bucks. So you're looking at about 31,500 for a Camaro Black. Which is great because even the V6 is fast as hell.

Fuck all these Slowstang lovers. Tell ford to grow some balls and make something else than a damn stang. None of their cars sell. The only reason why stangs sell is because dumb ass kids who think its a super car. Chevy has so many cars in its line up that would smoke any mustang. This is just the beginning of their retro era. Plus the interior on the Camaro is sick!!!!! Not like the cheap ass ford interior. Base camaros' come with more options than base mustangs.

GT500 KR, that is the worst car made in all of time. Has no HP for the body weight and price range is overpriced. The KR will be put to shame by the LS7 Camaro. Guess what, it'll be cheaper too. Ford needs to rethink the way the manufacture cars. Better yet they need to rethink all of the moves just on the Slowstang.

Well it started as an LT (about 24K) the wheels are 4K (28K) red halo headlights. Maybe 1K (30K) The Ground effects kit- 2K (32K) Plus the special badging. about 200 bucks. So you're looking at about 31,500 for a Camaro Black. Which is great because even the V6 is fast as hell.

good to see these at the show. I can't wait to eat some of them for lunch out on the street or at the track. before you say anything i'm running a 409 horsepower to the rear wheels of a C5 Corvette. The LS3 in the new Camaro's is a GREAT starter engine with TON'S of potential;) May look into adding one to the Vette if i go with a bigger cube build on mine
