I love the fact that you can actually read the piano sheet right away and few people can do this! on the other side if you can memorize it, you can give a more deep feeling! was nice but needs more sentimental play! like it comes from the heart not from a paper!
I don't think that only few people can side read ... its not really hard ... usually you should be able to play both ways (although by heart is always better, like you said, you can really concentrate on the dynamics etc.)
Its sounds so beautiful! This is my favorite composition. I'm going to start playing the keyboard soon, I hope I'll eventually be able to play as well as you.
Thanks for Viewing! I'm really sorry that you did not enjoy my interpretation and performance of Debussy's Masterpiece. I really hope that you record your own polished & professional version on piano for YouTubers later this year:) Best Wishes - Denise
I checked your Youtube page. What is your musical background that you can be so harsh? Quite obviously you are dumb. You must be deaf as well. Her playing is full of feeling. Too bad you lack the ability to hear that!
Why would my youtube page show my musical background in the first place?
I've got my grade 8 on the piano, I've been classically trained and have learnt this piece in the past. That's my musical background. I'm sorry if you think my comment was harsh but what I've said was true, why post a video of yourself playing something on the internet when you can't play it in the first place.
This is just one representation of her ability, maybe she can play other pieces well, but I don't know that.
While it's true she has little dynamic change, and that something sounds off with her keyboard, she does put feeling in it, and though the timing isn't correct, it was more changed to reflect her feelings.
Her playing is not "full of feeling" for me maybe because there is a lack of insurance with her playing (memorisation is a good idea to meliorate that!), her rythm is not good sometimes (4:00 she accelerate and i don't like)...
But I agree with you Ferrante109 for the violence of such a comment by josephinebijoux !!!!
MissDeniseHewitt => you have to improve your technical playing for me ;)
@josephinebijoux There are so many interpretations of music, you really cannot say that she murdered it. For all you know, that may be exactly how Debussy would have played it. Unless you are right there with him and he is listening to it, there is no room to talk. It is what it it. Do not judge.
Thanks for viewing! Hoping you'll make your own recording of this wonderful composition by Debussy! I'm really looking forward to your own more emotional interpretation:) Best Wishes - Denise

i was intrested to know what kind of piano u have, great sound yet good on space. Big question, is there any other form of piano sheet music besides notes, like tablature?
Thanks for viewing! I've got a Technics Digital Piano - PR60 - around 12 years old! The keyboard sound is really cool given its small size:) Best Wishes - Denise
Great performance, I am currently learning this with my teacher who is an absoulte genious at Debussy (and Ravel). The electric piano doesn't sound very good, they are good for electronic purposes (hence the name) but they don't provide suffient expression for Debussy.
you must be a teacher. I´ve heard you here playing some other piedes that I love. The Fantaisie Impromptu? Right. I am a begginer in piano and I don´t know if some day will I be capable of playing music as I read it, just like you. I mean, probably if you like this piece and rehearse it, your performance might be even better. Congrats.
Thanks so much for viewing! I'm not a teacher but simply an amateur musician that has a real passion for classical music, and I try to communicate my intense love in my videos:) Best Wishes - Denise
I think that guy who posted is being a bit snooty. Of course you're not making millions playing right now but from the other postings I've seen on this piece, yours is one of the best. You have a good touch and nice timing!
Well to be frank, I heard wrong notes and added notes. I think the piece should be more relaxed in the beginning. The piece as a whole actually is rushed, and you should learn when to play the piece slowly and when to play faster. Finally, you should have better memorized the piece before you posted it up. Overall, I think it was a mediocre performance. As much as I don't want to be creul. At least you got the emotion down.
Thanks for viewing! Of course I'm really disappointed that you did not enjoy my interpretation and performance, but its always great to get honest feedback:) Best Wishes - Denise
I have to agree. Clair de lune is one of my favourite pieces and it was not played particularly accurately here. She got a good sense of feeling though as you mentioned, but I think whilst this is important, emotion and feeling should come second (once a performance has been absolutely mastered). People on youtube have been posting vids on here without sheet music for example
It was great however and I liked many of the added notes, I enjoyed the performance so thanks for sharing!
Thanks so much for viewing and commenting! Yes, I do improvise with a few extra notes, but I guess that's my style, but still 95% Debussy:) Best Wishes - Denise
I'm glad you have your own style, and you are a great player!
I hope my comments didn't offend you, I'm just a pureist with serious OCD!
Despite my own preference for pieces with "great likeness to the original" I think the western art tradition is open to performance interpretation and I reckon Debussy would enjoy your performance too!
Thanks for viewing! This famous piece needs to be played in a relaxed way. When I'm playing I am thinking of beauty and romance! I try to convey these emotions of love to my fingers, although I do make some mistakes in the recording:) Best Wishes and Good Luck with your Grade 7 Examinations! Denise
The last chord in the right hand on the second page is supposed to be one octave lower. Also, the Db changes to an Eb, I believe. You did better than most, you put a lot of feeling into it, it just needs a little more work with notes and timing and it'll be perfect.

This performance is on e of you better ones in terms of note correctness, though there are still quite a few errors. However, it is marred by obstructive page turning.
Not bad. 1st: it's not easy playing this using this keyboard. 2nd: I think you have full conditions to play well, but you seem to be much in a hurry to show your work....and it's not ready. You should memorize the entire piece and it would release you to get more feeling. If you have to read you cannot feel. Go ahead!
Thanks so much for your sincere comments :) - I'll try harder now to remember the entire piece, since I can remember sections already so I'm getting there slowly - As I grow older I simply adore the romantic lyrics from Debussy's Piano Music ;-) Denise

No dynamics, no feeling, the timing isn't actually correct, and you have your keyboard on some weird setting.
Congratulations, you've just murdered one of the most beautiul compositions of piano music. All I can think is that you intended it to be this bad.
