Hasegawa is ready to take on the elites..he's been wiping out top ten contenders in the bantamweight division..he has the skill and the heart to go to the next level..and he has what a lot of fighters don't have..the KILLER INSTINCT..he's a buzzsaw when he sees the opportunity for a kill
Nice highlights. Hasegawa is really good but he's untested at the elite level and I wanna see him fight the other top guys of the division. He's a draw in his country but he should be willing to fight overseas (like his countryman Nishioka) and unify the division by fighting guys like Agbeko or Moreno.
balistik I think he would do quite well overseas should the opportunity presents itself. Valdez just gave Fernando Montiel a hell of a fight, Sahaprom was a great champion and Maludrottu was a great challenger as well. He has gotten past these guys and should be ready for the top level.
this guy is good and exciting but he needs to get over here in the states, soon. I'm willing to bet he can bring some fans with him to watch him overseas and exposure in the states will help no matter what you may think. One thing is for sure, "Pacquiao is the household name you cant pronounce"trademarked copyrighted.back on topic, pacquiao not only has a name people cant pronounce, he is a smaller fighter, doesnt speak english that well, doesnt get a lot of us tv spots... ........face of boxing
I was really glad when he blasted out Malinga, I just never liked him or his wild looking uppercut. Hasegawa has been looking great these last few fights, right now he IMO is the best fighter to come out of Japan since Eijiro Murata.
Dave thanks for making this video. Yes if Asians stay away from smoking, drugs, alcohol and perhaps gambling they tend to age well. Too bad so many Chinese have those vices!
One thing I have to disagree with is the Bantamweight class as it is now, its doesnt have the depth as the other weight classes. And no Vic its even worse cause Agbeko, Hasegawa and Montiel arent selling any shows in the states. Hasegawa should move up to 122 after another fight or two, he'd have a lot of big money fights there but I dont see him beating juanma or caballero right now.
That was by far probably the best fight highlight video compilation I have ever seen in my entire life. I will follow his career from now on thanks to you Master Chen.
That is always a fear when it comes to asian fighters. Not that they can't hold their own weight, but they do not get enough exposure here in the west and I expect more of them to to better than the average fighter. Not ecan be a Manny Pacquiao after all. Few fighters from the Philipinnes I've noticed (Bernabe Concepcion for example) crack under the pressure and get cold feet once they're here. It takes an extremely talented as well as disciplined fighter, like Pacquiao , to pull that off.
dave Hasegawa deserves a pound for pound consideration he is probably the best at 118 he has probably the best skill set at this weight class not a lot of us or the world knows about him but the guy has like 10 title defenses a very impresive fighter it is shame he does not fight outside of his country but who can blame him when he makes half of million fighting in japan which is a lot for the weight class Vic was aiming at him if he won but he lost so no fight, unfortunately
It really is too bad dieallday. The guy does fight quite a bit, I just wish there were better ways to see him. But at the end of the day HBO/Showtime are just American networks and any hardcore fight fan should be used to going outside the boundaries.
Thanks dragonstyle, I agree with you. It takes a degree of humbleness to watch the smaller fighters. As impressive as Holyfield was when he was in shape, skill is skill and to me more of that is better. People who knows how fighting really works know not to sleep on someone just because they're little.
One big reason the lower weight classes dont get much attention has to do with how fight fans see fights. For years fans saw fighters as invincible supermen. Thats why the HW Champion was the most prestigious prize in all sports. Normal men could not picture them selves taking a punch from an Iron Mike or even a Holyfield. Yet they couldnt or wouldnt admit to them selves that a 115 pound man can beat them regardless of their training. They're wrong but thats how fans see it sometimes
This is one of thebest vid's you've ever done man. Great stuff.
Hopefully Boxing can get stronger in that part of the world. Not just Japan, but Korea and even China. (CHina has a billion pp, great Boxers HAVE to come out of there)
I could even see revolutionary stuff if it becomes big/bigger over there.
dragonstyle also there are some Chinese fighters who participate to a certain degree. However the experience and pedigree of boxing still isn't adequate enough in China for us to turn out very well-schooled fighters. Our guys are very hardworking and very strong but are lacking in technical knowledge. There is a history of tough Chinese boxers getting hustled by more skilled fighters from the other Asian countries.
I understand. What i mean is, if someone special comes out of there it would be huge for Boxing in general.
I've always admired the S Korean fighters. They have a reputation similar to the Mexicans to where they're "willing to die in the ring". Maybe even more so than the Mexicans.
dragonstyle that's that Asian honor working full time. Korea is perhaps the most traditional of all the modern Asian countries. They love their boxing and take it very seriously.
Rob I like how he lulls opponents with his jab to give them a false sense of safety when they're within range of his left. Since he has some drawing power in Japan he could possibly invite one of the other Bantamweight titlists there for a unification. The Agbekos and Montiels of the world are always looking for bigger fights and going to Japan against their biggest name might be a good option.
overlordkrull you got it. I think Donaire is still growing as a fighter as well as physically. It'll be a while before he can move up in weight properly.

That Is Some Impressive Speed
OnlineBoxingPromos 2 years ago
I thought he was very fast,I think he holds back on his speed maybe throws with 70% of it at a time cuz he really turns it on.
Lower weights have always been my favorites, the buffet of boxing is the lower weights and Hasegawa is a prime example.
Maybe he can fight Mares,I mean what would you like to see him do if he got the spot light?
