  • Was the largest the Atlantic Giant you had previously planted? Check out 'The Great Pumpkin face-off! 2010. UK' on facebook...we got a competition going on...

  • @quazzard No it was just a normal pumpkin. When I harvest my pumpkins, I'll post on the blog their weights. Hopefully I'll have a fair size one.

  • two years ago i grown a pumbkin that was 11 pounds and i showed it off on halloween and got stolen (rotten kids)

  • Rotters!! Alarm it next time, or cover with sticky sap so they get covered in it.

  • Try again next year. That's what I'll do.

  • Nice to see your squash & pumpkin harvest - how rewarding. Thanks for the tips and the great video series.

My taters (spuds) grew over waist high this summer.

  • Hopefully, the spuds will last you until this years are ready. You must have fed them with something special for them to grow that high, wow they were huge.

  • Claire, i had a neighbor plow my new rich ground, maybe hadn't been gardened - ever! or maybe just grazed or such. I limed it for apples (winter), plowed and disced (March), planted the potatoes and just let them grow. I suspect it's very very healthy nutritious soil?

    You're an inspiration to thousands.

  • I bet the potatoes love it.

Thank you very much for your kind words.

  • vining plants like the squash family need a deep hole full of compost and organic matter to feed on during their long life. Just don`t plant them too close, or you may get an infestation of squash vine borer, if there are borers in UK. Waltham Butternut is naturally borer resistant.

  • You had a good harvest there....=)

  • Yes I'm quite chuffed.

  • Have a wonderful Winter Claire !!!

  • You too.

  • my pumpkins were just planted too late I guess and did not make it..they did flower but never put on any fruit..will try again next year in a different spot...Happy Halloween Claire, hope you & the kids have fun! -=-)

  • Some years things work and other years they don't. I'm determined to grow a really huge pumpkin 1 year.

  • @quazzard I'm not on Facebook, but if I blog the weights, then hopefully others will reply and we can see how they did.

  • My pumpkins are just coming up...I am hoping to have plenty.

  • Let me know how big they get.

  • What do the little ones taste like?

    Five Stars!!

  • They taste quite sweet, like butternut squash.

  • My pumpkin did not do well this year, I dont know why?

  • Try again next year. That's what I'm planning on doing.
