They are just going through the motions with their "good cop/bad cop" senators to give the appearance of bipartisianship....before they seat a Democrat in that seat. They know the law. It really sucks that we probably will end up with this douche as a Senator. I realize it's expensive but we should never have a position as high as Senator appointed by anyone. Also, the Illinois Sec. of State is derelict legally for refusing to sign the appointment.  Blago has only been tried in the court of public opinion so far, and the Sec. is pretty much mandated to sign the appointment of a sitting governor.

I know nothing about Burris other than he's being jerked around for matters not of his doing.

I don't see how they can refuse to seat Burris. He was legally appointed by a governor to fill the seat. Blago may be scum, but he's still untried and still the governor, with governor powers. All the hand-wringing in the Senate about "standards and tradition" is BS, I mean they gave a 7 felony Alaska Senator a standing ovation. There's your precious standards.

Legally appointed, Sec. of State signature not legally required, seat the man and get to important matters.

reid's downfall on this came tuesday when Diane Feinstein said the law is on roland burris's side. when a major player like difi deserts him, he's got to back off.

which begs the question, why did reid display this recalcitrance last week, before he even knew what the law would be?

More specifically on the national level it was Senator Harry Reid who responded out of turn without apparently knowing all of the facts last week. Then by the time that Reid appeared on "Meet the Press" this past Sunday, he was already having to walk back some of his commentary on Burris. Reid and Pelosi should be replaced with new leaders.
