Having heard some of the screenplay's differences with the book, I'm not sure I still want it to be made. John's said that he got Q and Lacey together. He's of the (admittedly unpopular) opinion that a movie doesn't have to be exactly true to the book.

Of course it is fairly impossible to get a movie to be exactly like the book, but to not even attempt this and combine two characters who's personality would be drastically altered when said combination would be made also goes a bit far, for me. The wikipedia article remains vague on the subject, but I am on the whole thankful, I believe, that there is no such thing as an unsatisfactory movie adaptation of this witty and insightful novel.

@LittleWhiteLy Of course. And I think this is one area that the Harry Potter series got fairly right - managing to condense quite large books into two-and-a-half-hour movies, without losing too much. Yes, they cut large chunks, but still managed, as the producers say, 'to keep the spirit of the books'. My 2c.
