I just started my water fasting today and I weight 175 just like u did and im 5'1. But I wanted to ask you how did you stay motivated and how did you keep your self from going to the kitchen and eating everything in the frig. I'm hungry already and just started, and did you exercise while on your fasting.

@syndicate2802 I don't know how much you weigh or are planning to lose, but don't forget that losing a large amount of weight too quickly can lead to sagging skin and muscle loss. And afterwards you'll have to readjust your caloric intake according to your new smaller size, because if you go back to how you ate before you'll put on all the weight again and it will probably be pure fat. I learned that the hard way lol so just some advice if you'd maybe overlooked these things.
@ACruz030809 there are many different types of fasts. First, research them and figure out which one is ideal for you. There are green juice fasts (blended veggies more for cleansing and changing eating habits. great for beauty and health), there's the 811 diet (bananas.. high carb fruits-- this is best for high athletic performance people); there's the raw vegan fast, meaning you eat whole raw foods. There's the master cleanse. I've done that one, it was great.
@ACruz030809 Thing is tho when doing the master cleanse organic lemons are not always easy to find. There's the Yogic cleanse. That one is specifically geared towards cleansing certain organs. Last I can think of is the organic coconut water cleanse. Just like water, this stuff is awesome. Coconuts are full of fiber and nutrients. You can youtube info on all these cleanses/fasts.
@ACruz030809 Some fasts, like water fasting and coconut water fasting are typically done every once and a while in 3 day increments because they are so intense. I suggest only doing them after you have completed a veggie juice cleanse or a raw vegan diet for one month. If you eat regular unhealthy food and go right into one it would kind of defeat the purpose. Green juice fasting or juice fasting you can do as long as you'd like, and the raw vegan diet is a lifestyle cleanse in itself.
@SardaukarNo1 there's a lot more to water fasting than anticipating weight loss. In fact most people who research the fast prior to doing it aren't in it for weight loss.
@TalaMary I recommend trying a green juice fast first, or at least trying out the raw vegan lifestyle for at least a month first. In other words, if you pre cleanse and prep your body first then the water fast itself will be less stressful and the benefits will be better felt.
Most of the weight at the start of a fast is going to be water loss if you continue you will start to acutally start to see the weight aka fat loss. Good luck in ur journey.
so im attempting to do a water fast for around 20 days and was wondering if zero calorie drinks will prevent ketosis andalso did you gain any water weight back when you resumed eating?
Hey, thanks for sharing your weight loss journey! One question: You've lost a massive amount of weight in one week. But is that mostly water loss or is it fat loss? Were you able to fit in your old clothes? Did you lose inches from stomach??
That's the burning question in my mind. If water fast can lead to fat loss (not water loss), then I am all for it. Other wise, there isn't really no point of fasting...... What do you think?
@TheOsmanSafdar The first week you lose water weight and fat. If you look at my channel page you can see the difference in my measurements. I definitely lost inches. I was 4 sizes smaller after the fast. You totally lose fat. There is more to fasting anyway, healing and cleansing are huge and even if you didn't lose weight those two would be a great point to fasting.

@jameswray50 I didn't take any pills. You really shouldn't take any pills while fasting anyway. Especially not without medical supervision. Just keep on doing what you're doing!! Good luck!!
@jameswray50 i sugest u to take vitamins, all different kinds try centrum 50+, vitamin B50, Vitamin D, and C and other kind of suppliments, u'll have more energy and u'll be healthier by the end of your fast! trust me missing vitamins and protein and minerals in ur body is very unpleasent and causes brain damage.! i woud no, i went threw it a while ago! GOOD LUCK!!!
Distilled water is best. Tap water has chlorine and minerals that clash with the de-toxifying stage and make it very hard to carry on after 3 or 4 days. Dont believe me? Google it up!

@lzebed Don't do that. You'll gain the weight back. Just drink only water, exercise 1-3 hours a day if you can at least 30 min. eat day and just run. You'll lose a pretty good amount of weight and end up keeping it off.
This isn't dieting...it's having no diet at all. When you drink only water, you will undoubtedly lose weight. However, you lose the nutrients your body needs as well. Your body is shutting down. Losing large quantities of weight at once is a body's signal to you that your health is in danger.
@keepcalmandpanic I wasn't doing this to diet. I was doing this to heal which in fact I did heal quite a few health problems. After just a little bit of proper research anyone can see that fasting is good for you when done properly and your body does not shut down. This is why people in extreme situations (like stuck in the middle of no where after an accident) can go without food - its our bodies natural defence against starvation. Love & light -Mindy
@sweetp888t I want to feel mor energized and overall better. I'm 14 and though I want to lose 10 pounds I just don't physically feel as energized anymore. Will this help me feel better after a week of fasting? Or maybe at my young age just 3 days? Will this make me more tired? I need all the study time I can get. Do you only drink water during this? I only drink water anyway but I'm not sure if you do anything else.
@Japansepuppy2481 At 14 the reason you are not feeling energized is because of what you are eating or depression. You shouldn't be water fasting, do not do it. You're growing right now & should not be fasting especially unsupervised. You need to make long term changes at this point or you will be doing this for the rest of your life. Try eating juicy ripe fruit for a couple days & see how you fee. Then add back in salads & other veggies. Go from there, message me if you want further direction.

Am i to young to try this? i want to try a 7 day Water fasting because Im just not really happy with my weight right now. Im 14 and i weight about 150 lbs :/ Losing almost 20 pounds in a week would be amazing. Nobody ever believes me when i say im 150 lbs, but i have DD's , soo thats were some of the weight is :P But i still really want to loose at least 20 pounds before Summer break, and to do it in one week would be amazing. So could any body give me any advice? Should i try this? :)
@OoMakeupForeveroO I'm sorry but no. Fasting should not just be used to lose weight. Too many people get this into their heads. If you are overweight at 14 you need to first look at your lifestyle choices. If you just fast without changing anything else you will put the weight right back on. How bout doing a fruit fast. Enjoy as much fruit as you want for a week - you will still lose weight. Add exercise & eat clean & raw. Please do not fast at this age especially unsupervised.
@sweetp888t It's just I have been known to have a few drinks every once in a while and I am worried about my liver working overtime for that long. Just thought if I gave it a break every once in a while during the fast might be a little safer. My doctor did blood work last week and he said everything looked normal, but I have heard some talk about permanent liver damage.
@jamesdewy2 Eating a meal will not help if you wait 4 days. What you can do is have fresh juice each day to slow the detox. I wouldn't worry though because fasting is actually the best way to cleanse the liver :D However if you get a headache then it has become too much for liver because you are not drinking enough water - so make sure you are drinking enough - that is the safest way to ensure no damage. What is the most damaging is not fasting :)
I am 30 years old and have 40 lbs to lose. I started the fast two days ago and so far it really is not a big deal. I have more energy then ever. The only thing I am worried about is breaking the fast. If I fasted for four days and ate one meal and then fasted again would that defeat the whole purpose? What would you suggest for that one meal? @jamesdewy2 Hi there!!! Congrats on making it 2 days. Why are you thinking about eating 1 meal? A special event or something? When breaking the fast you don't want to eat a meal more like some fruit or fresh juice. Personally I wouldn't be able to go straight back to fasting after that...I would find a way to keep "cheating" &probably lead to a binge...this is why its best to break w/ fruit because there isn't anything addicitive about it. Even if you do the fasting will still be beneficial!
Hey girly, well done! I started water fasting 2 days ago (today being my third), already lost 3kg (about 6 pounds). I have a weak black coffee in the morning and a herbal tea in the evening. Did you do any exercise during your fast? I mean 18 pounds in just 7 days is so awesome! Im planning to go for a week, break it for 2-3 days( my partner will be in town and i cant tell him im on water fast as he will kill me lol) and then start a 7 day raw food then 7 day juice fast probz. @AppleKhanoom I did do yoga the first day but cut that out as I just didn't feel it was necessary. You should do really good stretches and/or go for a brisk walk to get the blood moving. If you must have something other than water try warm lemon water - which will just cut mucus & not really cause other problems like coffee & tea. I hope you will be restricting the food you eat while your partner is in town otherwise you may reverse all the good you did. Good luck to you!!!
alright, well today i restart this fast. i'll just start drinking tons more water. it seems like after all of this i'll need to do some sort of intestinal cleanse to get rid any build up. if i remember right, that kind of build up is also another reason for feeling tired all the time and low energy. which is part of my problem. but i really want to see positive results in my skin and reduced scaring. so i'm going to give it my best shot. thanks for the help.
@eseec You really shouldn't need to do any type of cleanse. This is The Cleanse :) When you are fasting and your digestive system takes a break it also shrinks as its shrinking all the gunk falls off. When you break your fast you will have a BM in the first three days. It will be very intense and then everything will be good again. Please break the fast properly with fruit and give yourself plenty of time before you try any other type of fix. You will have boundless energy at this point!
so not having a bowel movement is a good thing? i didnt know that. i thought that having a healthy colon was an important part of the detoxification process? i was having nasty headaches. and it could have been from the coffee. i only did the flush because i thought we were supposed to still eliminate. so how different is water fasting from the master cleanse? does a master cleanse "lemonade cleanse" still allow your body to detox and restart the same way? i still really want to do this.
@eseec If you are eating you want bowel movements...when your not eating there is nothing to come out. I didn't have a bm for about 3 1/2 weeks but as soon as I started eating I was regular & everything was typical of healthy bowels. Coffee could definitely give the headaches & also not enough water. Since your drinking coffee which dehyrdates you would need tons more water. I did the master clease awhile ago without much research but water fasting is a better detox and a fresh new start.
i started my fast and i was losing about a pound a day. but after about 4 days i stopped having bowel movements :( i was drinking coffee in addition to help me have more energy to keep up with the kids and all. but no success in having a bowel movement. i took a day or two off to get more fiber. and things are slowly "moving" again. but even after doing a salt water cleanse nothing happened! that not how its supposed to go! so any ideas? i want to keep fasting to clear up skin and other things.
@eseec You want your bowel to shut down. that is the whole point of fasting so that your use the energy from digestion for other things such as healing and detoxification. I don't recommend coffee or salt water flushes so I don't know what to tell you about that. To clear skin up go with just water. You need to rest so if you have to keep up with kids maybe water fasting is not for you. Try juice fasting or smoothies.
Nice work some people don't see that during a fast the body goes into ketosis, which then uses ALL YOUR FAT RESERVES as ENERGY. During this state the body will be in " Muscle Sparing" as it does not want to lose all the protein at once so it chooses the Fat reserves instead. You will lose muscle but not that much during a 30 day fast about 1-3 pounds maximum of muscle everything else lost is a combination of water and FAT!
@kayla220220 Pain usually arises when the body is taking the time to "reheal" an old injury. I had a couple days where my knees hurt (I've always had problems with them) but other than that not really. No problem with electrolyte loss at all. Hope this helps & good luck to you!!

I don't want to use fluoride toothpaste and god forbid I swallow some accidentally or someone said they used himalayan salt? What do you do?
@aniabutt Hi Anna!! Having your mom as a fasting partner will be awesome!! Good for the two of you!! Thank you so much for your kind words :) I didn't use anything other than water most days. Once a week I used Jason's Healthy Mouth tea tree toothpaste with no flouride. I found that brushing my teeth and tongue 2-3 times a day with water was enough and my teeth & gums actually felt stronger after the fast. I didn't want to introduce too many chemicals so that's what I did. Good luck!!
@jsabree3 During the fast I only had water. After the fast I had juicy fruit for a week, then incorporated easily digestable veggies. I follow LFRV so there wasn't much to add in after that other then avocados & nuts here and there. Hope this helps!!
I'm so happy I found your videos! I'm on day 3 of my water fast, my first one ever. I have the exact same starting weight as you do, 175. I lost 4 pounds the first day and one pound yesterday, but I think after watching your video I'm going to resist the urge to weigh myself everyday and just do it once a week. After you bought the scale did you start weighing yourself everyday?
@duckgirl1988 Not everyday but every once in a while I would take a peak. I really enjoyed the surprise so I tried not to ruin it. Also weighing every day is stressful!! Relax and let it go!!
@pertuia NO. Do not drink coffee while fasting. If anything just warm your water a little bit or put on a sweater. Coffee contains CAFFIENE and it dehydrates you.
The first week you should lose alot more than the following week because u had food in ur body, after digesting all that food u should start losing half of that every week.
@1LaDyPhReSH I drank about a gallon a day...I used a water consumption calculator and that is about right for my weight and activity level. While fasting I didn't exercise, stretching & brisk walk is about it. You should never be short of breath while fasting.
@JOEYSPRANKS 1-2 pounds is the standard when eating. This is because anything less than that and you are teetering around starvation mode. Your body needs at least 1200 calories to do nothing all day...then take into account everything else you do. when fasting you enter ketosis & are using the reserves as fuel. This is not starvation mode because your taking what you need from the excess you have saved up. When eating you shouldn't be in ketosis & so your only relying on food.

One of my friends did the water fasting before she went on vacation and she talked about minor euphoria. I know it relaxes you but I'm not sure what to expect as far as being tired or just wanting to sleep all day. @ButaflyMiss Euphoria - uhm yes!!! I really wish I could feel the way I did all the time while fasting. Sometimes it comes back to me but not as strong. Usually when I spent time outside in the sun I felt the most amazing bubble of happiness swallowing me up. Like I swallowed the sun and it was beaming through my skin. Ahhhh sounds so amazing!! I've been watching all of your videos because I am in deep need of a fast. I wanted to start this week (Monday) but I had fruit around 2:30pm that day. That lead to more eating the rest of the night it was all vegan but...I really want to fast. I guess if I really wanted to do it I would right? Maybe I will call this Monday/Tuesday prep days? Its cold here in Michigan so any advice about water fasting in the fall? I have a long past with disordered eating and fasting is suppose to help.
@Gingerlylove Hi there! When you are ready you will fast. Just believe in your body and feel the energy around you. If it feels right then do it. As the cold you must stay warm. Warmth during a fast is one of the most important things. The body is very busy during a fast and if it must work to keep you warm then detox will suffer. Good luck to you & you CAN do this!!!!

@urbanrootz Check out my video Common Questions, Answers & Tips......quick answer: orange juice & watermelon for 3 days...other fruit for days 4-7....after 1 week add in easily digestible veggies....this for the same amount of your fast (10days) then reincorporate exercise & begin whatever diet you find satisfactory hopefully much cleaner then the diet before fast so all that effort isn't wasted :)
@sweetp888t Thanks for the tips... I am 21 hours into my water fast. So far I have become weaker, getting occasional cold sweats, heart beating harder and feel light headed.. BUT, not really feeling hungry! -- Are these symptoms normal for the first day? When do they tend to subside? Thanks :)
@urbanrootz Normal but the first day really shouldn't be that bad....I guess it depends what you ate yesterday....if your lightheaded you need to drink more water though. You should be sipping all day long.
@labenesegurl4real Well it just depends how much you have to lose...I don't recommend fasting for weight loss because unless you make actual lifestyle changes you will probably gain most of it back. If you have enough to lose, drink tons of water, clear the lymph, and rest then your results should be similiar.
@sweetp888t well im planning on loosing about 10 to 15 pounds because i already have lost abt 27 pounds i only wanna loose 10 pounds now..but i havent been loosing anymore weight this past couple of days i think my metabolism is very slow thats why..but do you think if i just drink water and work out for one week i could lose 10 to 15 pounds??
@labenesegurl4real Well you don't want to"workout" while fasting. You should never be out of breathe. Brisk walking, light rebounding are fine. During fasting its more about clearing the lymph so your body can continue to detox & use up the junk. After the fast you will want to start working out to maintain the weight loss. In a week you should be able to knock off 8-10lbs or more depending on your %BF. The less you have to lose the less you will lose.

Im on day 7 today YAY! I have a question- I plan to do the alkaline "diet" after my 40 days of fasting and I am also planning on fasting for 24 hrs one day a week permenently, my question is - after your extended fasting is it easier to fast for short periods of time cos i remember when i was eating a SAD diet I thought I would die of hunger while waiting for my double whooper with cheese! lol
@EyeWearMySunglasses I just recently did a 5 day fast and it wasn't hard but I also had a ton of people supporting & fasting with me...I'm really addicted to my morning banana smoothie so that's what made it a bit difficult. If your eating correctly fasting once a week might be overkill.....I would definitely give yourself a month after your extended fast before beginning that ritual though - get back to normal first. Congrats on one week!!!!
@ashley10124487 I drank about a gallon a day...sipped throughout the day and made sure I was peeing clear 10-12 times per day. If you feel dizzy, irritable, or spacey drink more water. I didn't do anything other than drinking water, sunbathing, skin brushing, resting, sleeping, and relaxing.
oh ok thank you.also is chewing sugarfree mint gum ok to have during this fast?im on day one and i couldnt find the information i wanted and didnt want to chew any b4 i knew of something
@sunshinalicious "Sugar free" gums contain aspartame which is a cancer causing chemical. I wouldn't chew it fasting or not. The only thing I recommend is lemon in your water if it is a must!! Not more than a couple times a day at the most. Good luck!!
@sunshinalicious Some experts recommend lemon juice in the water especially for thos with lots of toxins stored up. A glass in the morning will help cut the mucus. If this doesn't apply to you I would just say save the lemon for when you can't stand the taste of the water and please make sure you use fresh lemon juice!! If you must add lemon its the best option as far as adding things into your fast. Good luck!!

I drink about 7-10 16 ounce glasses of water a day with no food, and the water is just starting to taste freaking horrible to me. Like.. bleach and chlorine, or something.
I'm on my 5th day, I think. And I've lost 16 pounds.

Some tips...drink a ton of water so you pee clear 10-12 times per day, if you feel dizzy/tired/irritated drink more, clear the lymph nodes (rebounding, massage, hot/cold showers, dry skin brushing), REST REST REST, clear your mind before you try to sleep & stick with your sleep schedule, get fresh air and some sun would be amazing. @urbanrootz The majority of the time I had distilled but I got to a point where it started to taste so horrible so I switched between that & filtered water.
A water diet? U can't be serious. U do know that the weight will pile right back on the moment u go off it right? We eat for a reason, control it and there's no reason u can't lose the fat.
@JennelleBelle Its not a water diet - Its a fast & I didn't do it for weight loss although that is one of the easiest things to track and show - I did it for healing. I actually have not gained the weight back infact I continue to lose inches & weight still. I follow the 80/10/10 diet and love all the benefits I received from my fast including tons of energy, higher metabolism, efficient elimination, and a wonderful life :D to name a few.

@aizacity Hehe! That made my day :) The first few days will only be as bad as your previous diet & lifestyle choices. Just think about how great you will feel once you hit days 4-6 and do things to help your body eliminate (skin brushing, rebounding, hot/cold showers, deep breathing, sunbathing, and of course REST!!). Sleep was probably the worst part the first week so just stick to it the best you can. Good luck on your journey!! <3

i've tried the water fast several times but i've always ended it on day 3 with binging... i really want to complete a 1 week fast but the temptations always get me... any suggestions? also, can i take a multi-vitamin everyday while on the fast? or would it ruin the weight loss? I'm not too concerned with the health, i just want to lose some pounds before summer!
@LovinJae12 Best advice I can give you for cravings is drink more water and/or surround yourself with health - you can research your new lifestyle, new exercise program, get active on a health concious forum, or watch movies to remind you why your doing this: Fast Food Nation, Food Inc, Processed People, Earthlings, Meet Your Meat, you shouldn't want to eat for weeks after that :)
@LovinJae12 As far as vitamins during fasting - I say no - the average person has enough stores for 6 weeks without food. This is what you want your body to use while fasting - you want to get rid of the extra junk so don't add more. @darkfeather111 I wouldn't drink just straight tap water but that's me. I have a brita filter on my tap so I did drink that during the fast although I switched between that and distilled. @syndicate2802 I don't know how much you weigh or are planning to lose, but don't forget that losing a large amount of weight too quickly can lead to sagging skin and muscle loss. And afterwards you'll have to readjust your caloric intake according to your new smaller size, because if you go back to how you ate before you'll put on all the weight again and it will probably be pure fat. I learned that the hard way lol so just some advice if you'd maybe overlooked these things.

@ACruz030809 there are many different types of fasts. First, research them and figure out which one is ideal for you. There are green juice fasts (blended veggies more for cleansing and changing eating habits. great for beauty and health), there's the 811 diet (bananas.. high carb fruits-- this is best for high athletic performance people); there's the raw vegan fast, meaning you eat whole raw foods. There's the master cleanse. I've done that one, it was great.

@ACruz030809 Thing is tho when doing the master cleanse organic lemons are not always easy to find. There's the Yogic cleanse. That one is specifically geared towards cleansing certain organs. Last I can think of is the organic coconut water cleanse. Just like water, this stuff is awesome. Coconuts are full of fiber and nutrients. You can youtube info on all these cleanses/fasts.

@ACruz030809 Some fasts, like water fasting and coconut water fasting are typically done every once and a while in 3 day increments because they are so intense. I suggest only doing them after you have completed a veggie juice cleanse or a raw vegan diet for one month. If you eat regular unhealthy food and go right into one it would kind of defeat the purpose. Green juice fasting or juice fasting you can do as long as you'd like, and the raw vegan diet is a lifestyle cleanse in itself.

@TalaMary I recommend trying a green juice fast first, or at least trying out the raw vegan lifestyle for at least a month first. In other words, if you pre cleanse and prep your body first then the water fast itself will be less stressful and the benefits will be better felt.

Hey, thanks for sharing your weight loss journey! One question: You've lost a massive amount of weight in one week. But is that mostly water loss or is it fat loss? Were you able to fit in your old clothes? Did you lose inches from stomach??
That's the burning question in my mind. If water fast can lead to fat loss (not water loss), then I am all for it. Other wise, there isn't really no point of fasting...... What do you think?

@TheOsmanSafdar The first week you lose water weight and fat. If you look at my channel page you can see the difference in my measurements. I definitely lost inches. I was 4 sizes smaller after the fast. You totally lose fat. There is more to fasting anyway, healing and cleansing are huge and even if you didn't lose weight those two would be a great point to fasting.

Distilled water is best. Tap water has chlorine and minerals that clash with the de-toxifying stage and make it very hard to carry on after 3 or 4 days. Dont believe me? Google it up!

@lzebed Don't do that. You'll gain the weight back. Just drink only water, exercise 1-3 hours a day if you can at least 30 min. eat day and just run. You'll lose a pretty good amount of weight and end up keeping it off.

This isn't dieting...it's having no diet at all. When you drink only water, you will undoubtedly lose weight. However, you lose the nutrients your body needs as well. Your body is shutting down. Losing large quantities of weight at once is a body's signal to you that your health is in danger.

@keepcalmandpanic I wasn't doing this to diet. I was doing this to heal which in fact I did heal quite a few health problems. After just a little bit of proper research anyone can see that fasting is good for you when done properly and your body does not shut down. @Japansepuppy2481 At 14 the reason you are not feeling energized is because of what you are eating or depression. You shouldn't be water fasting, do not do it. You're growing right now & should not be fasting especially unsupervised. You need to make long term changes at this point or you will be doing this for the rest of your life. Try eating juicy ripe fruit for a couple days & see how you fee. Then add back in salads & other veggies. Go from there, message me if you want further direction.

Am i to young to try this? i want to try a 7 day Water fasting because Im just not really happy with my weight right now. Im 14 and i weight about 150 lbs :/ Losing almost 20 pounds in a week would be amazing. Nobody ever believes me when i say im 150 lbs, but i have DD's , soo thats were some of the weight is :P But i still really want to loose at least 20 pounds before Summer break, and to do it in one week would be amazing. @OoMakeupForeveroO I'm sorry but no. Fasting should not just be used to lose weight. Too many people get this into their heads. If you are overweight at 14 you need to first look at your lifestyle choices. If you just fast without changing anything else you will put the weight right back on. How bout doing a fruit fast. Enjoy as much fruit as you want for a week - you will still lose weight. Add exercise & eat clean & raw. Please do not fast at this age especially unsupervised.

@sweetp888t It's just I have been known to have a few drinks every once in a while and I am worried about my liver working overtime for that long. Just thought if I gave it a break every once in a while during the fast might be a little safer. My doctor did blood work last week and he said everything looked normal, but I have heard some talk about permanent liver damage.

@jamesdewy2 Eating a meal will not help if you wait 4 days. What you can do is have fresh juice each day to slow the detox. I wouldn't worry though because fasting is actually the best way to cleanse the liver :D However if you get a headache then it has become too much for liver because you are not drinking enough water - so make sure you are drinking enough - that is the safest way to ensure no damage. What is the most damaging is not fasting :)

I am 30 years old and have 40 lbs to lose. I started the fast two days ago and so far it really is not a big deal. I have more energy then ever. The only thing I am worried about is breaking the fast. If I fasted for four days and ate one meal and then fasted again would that defeat the whole purpose? What would you suggest for that one meal? @jamesdewy2 Hi there!!! Congrats on making it 2 days. Why are you thinking about eating 1 meal? A special event or something? When breaking the fast you don't want to eat a meal more like some fruit or fresh juice. Personally I wouldn't be able to go straight back to fasting after that...I would find a way to keep "cheating" &probably lead to a binge...this is why its best to break w/ fruit because there isn't anything addicitive about it. Even if you do the fasting will still be beneficial!

Hey girly, well done! I started water fasting 2 days ago (today being my third), already lost 3kg (about 6 pounds). I have a weak black coffee in the morning and a herbal tea in the evening. @AppleKhanoom I did do yoga the first day but cut that out as I just didn't feel it was necessary. You should do really good stretches and/or go for a brisk walk to get the blood moving. If you must have something other than water try warm lemon water - which will just cut mucus & not really cause other problems like coffee & tea. I hope you will be restricting the food you eat while your partner is in town otherwise you may reverse all the good you did. Good luck to you!!!

alright, well today i restart this fast. i'll just start drinking tons more water. it seems like after all of this i'll need to do some sort of intestinal cleanse to get rid any build up. if i remember right, that kind of build up is also another reason for feeling tired all the time and low energy. which is part of my problem. but i really want to see positive results in my skin and reduced scaring. so i'm going to give it my best shot. thanks for the help.

@eseec You really shouldn't need to do any type of cleanse. This is The Cleanse :) When you are fasting and your digestive system takes a break it also shrinks as its shrinking all the gunk falls off. When you break your fast you will have a BM in the first three days. It will be very intense and then everything will be good again. Please break the fast properly with fruit and give yourself plenty of time before you try any other type of fix. You will have boundless energy at this point!

so not having a bowel movement is a good thing? i didnt know that. i thought that having a healthy colon was an important part of the detoxification process? i was having nasty headaches. and it could have been from the coffee. i only did the flush because i thought we were supposed to still eliminate. so how different is water fasting from the master cleanse? does a master cleanse "lemonade cleanse" still allow your body to detox and restart the same way? i still really want to do this.

@eseec If you are eating you want bowel movements...when your not eating there is nothing to come out. I didn't have a bm for about 3 1/2 weeks but as soon as I started eating I was regular & everything was typical of healthy bowels. Coffee could definitely give the headaches & also not enough water. Since your drinking coffee which dehyrdates you would need tons more water. I did the master clease awhile ago without much research but water fasting is a better detox and a fresh new start.

i started my fast and i was losing about a pound a day. but after about 4 days i stopped having bowel movements :( i was drinking coffee in addition to help me have more energy to keep up with the kids and all. but no success in having a bowel movement. i took a day or two off to get more fiber. and things are slowly "moving" again. but even after doing a salt water cleanse nothing happened! that not how its supposed to go! so any ideas? i want to keep fasting to clear up skin and other things.

@eseec You want your bowel to shut down. that is the whole point of fasting so that your use the energy from digestion for other things such as healing and detoxification. I don't recommend coffee or salt water flushes so I don't know what to tell you about that. To clear skin up go with just water. You need to rest so if you have to keep up with kids maybe water fasting is not for you. Try juice fasting or smoothies.

Nice work some people don't see that during a fast the body goes into ketosis, which then uses ALL YOUR FAT RESERVES as ENERGY. During this state the body will be in " Muscle Sparing" as it does not want to lose all the protein at once so it chooses the Fat reserves instead. You will lose muscle but not that much during a 30 day fast about 1-3 pounds maximum of muscle everything else lost is a combination of water and FAT!

@kayla220220 Pain usually arises when the body is taking the time to "reheal" an old injury. I had a couple days where my knees hurt (I've always had problems with them) but other than that not really. No problem with electrolyte loss at all. Hope this helps & good luck to you!!

@aniabutt Hi Anna!! Having your mom as a fasting partner will be awesome!! Good for the two of you!! Thank you so much for your kind words :) I didn't use anything other than water most days. Once a week I used Jason's Healthy Mouth tea tree toothpaste with no flouride. I found that brushing my teeth and tongue 2-3 times a day with water was enough and my teeth & gums actually felt stronger after the fast. I didn't want to introduce too many chemicals so that's what I did. Good luck!!

@jsabree3 During the fast I only had water. After the fast I had juicy fruit for a week, then incorporated easily digestable veggies. I follow LFRV so there wasn't much to add in after that other then avocados & nuts here and there. Hope this helps!!

@pertuia NO. Do not drink coffee while fasting. If anything just warm your water a little bit or put on a sweater. Coffee contains CAFFIENE and it dehydrates you.

@1LaDyPhReSH I drank about a gallon a day...I used a water consumption calculator and that is about right for my weight and activity level. While fasting I didn't exercise, stretching & brisk walk is about it. You should never be short of breath while fasting.

@JOEYSPRANKS 1-2 pounds is the standard when eating. This is because anything less than that and you are teetering around starvation mode. Your body needs at least 1200 calories to do nothing all day...then take into account everything else you do. when fasting you enter ketosis & are using the reserves as fuel. This is not starvation mode because your taking what you need from the excess you have saved up. When eating you shouldn't be in ketosis & so your only relying on food.

I've been watching all of your videos because I am in deep need of a fast. I wanted to start this week (Monday) but I had fruit around 2:30pm that day. That lead to more eating the rest of the night it was all vegan but...I really want to fast. I guess if I really wanted to do it I would right? Maybe I will call this Monday/Tuesday prep days? Its cold here in Michigan so any advice about water fasting in the fall? I have a long past with disordered eating and fasting is suppose to help.

@Gingerlylove Hi there! When you are ready you will fast. Just believe in your body and feel the energy around you. If it feels right then do it. As the cold you must stay warm. Warmth during a fast is one of the most important things. The body is very busy during a fast and if it must work to keep you warm then detox will suffer. Good luck to you & you CAN do this!!!!

@urbanrootz Check out my video Common Questions, Answers & Tips......quick answer: orange juice & watermelon for 3 days...other fruit for days 4-7....after 1 week add in easily digestible veggies....this for the same amount of your fast (10days) then reincorporate exercise & begin whatever diet you find satisfactory hopefully much cleaner then the diet before fast so all that effort isn't wasted :)

@sweetp888t Thanks for the tips... I am 21 hours into my water fast. So far I have become weaker, getting occasional cold sweats, heart beating harder and feel light headed.. BUT, not really feeling hungry! -- Are these symptoms normal for the first day? When do they tend to subside? Thanks :)

@urbanrootz Normal but the first day really shouldn't be that bad....I guess it depends what you ate yesterday....if your lightheaded you need to drink more water though. You should be sipping all day long.

@labenesegurl4real Well it just depends how much you have to lose...I don't recommend fasting for weight loss because unless you make actual lifestyle changes you will probably gain most of it back. If you have enough to lose, drink tons of water, clear the lymph, and rest then your results should be similiar.

@sweetp888t well im planning on loosing about 10 to 15 pounds because i already have lost abt 27 pounds i only wanna loose 10 pounds now..but i havent been loosing anymore weight this past couple of days i think my metabolism is very slow thats why..but do you think if i just drink water and work out for one week i could lose 10 to 15 pounds??

@labenesegurl4real Well you don't want to"workout" while fasting. You should never be out of breathe. Brisk walking, light rebounding are fine. During fasting its more about clearing the lymph so your body can continue to detox & use up the junk. After the fast you will want to start working out to maintain the weight loss. In a week you should be able to knock off 8-10lbs or more depending on your %BF. The less you have to lose the less you will lose.

Im on day 7 today YAY! I have a question- I plan to do the alkaline "diet" after my 40 days of fasting and I am also planning on fasting for 24 hrs one day a week permenently, my question is - after your extended fasting is it easier to fast for short periods of time cos i remember when i was eating a SAD diet I thought I would die of hunger while waiting for my double whooper with cheese! lol

@EyeWearMySunglasses I just recently did a 5 day fast and it wasn't hard but I also had a ton of people supporting & fasting with me...I'm really addicted to my morning banana smoothie so that's what made it a bit difficult. If your eating correctly fasting once a week might be overkill.....I would definitely give yourself a month after your extended fast before beginning that ritual though - get back to normal first. Congrats on one week!!!!

@ashley10124487 I drank about a gallon a day...sipped throughout the day and made sure I was peeing clear 10-12 times per day. If you feel dizzy, irritable, or spacey drink more water. I didn't do anything other than drinking water, sunbathing, skin brushing, resting, sleeping, and relaxing.

@sunshinalicious "Sugar free" gums contain aspartame which is a cancer causing chemical. I wouldn't chew it fasting or not. The only thing I recommend is lemon in your water if it is a must!! Not more than a couple times a day at the most. Good luck!!

@sunshinalicious Some experts recommend lemon juice in the water especially for thos with lots of toxins stored up. A glass in the morning will help cut the mucus. If this doesn't apply to you I would just say save the lemon for when you can't stand the taste of the water and please make sure you use fresh lemon juice!! If you must add lemon its the best option as far as adding things into your fast. Good luck!!

God, I wish I could afford to buy a filter for my water.
I drink about 7-10 16 ounce glasses of water a day with no food, and the water is just starting to taste freaking horrible to me. Like.. bleach and chlorine, or something.
I'm on my 5th day, I think. And I've lost 16 pounds.
I can't believe I've been doing this regularly, and I still feel like total ass.

Man, you are gorgeous! I am planning to do a 7 day water fasting as part of a candida cleansing program. Any tips you can give me to prepare for it, or after I finish it? (I'm thinking of taking probiotics for a month after I break the fast). Peace of mind to you :)

@urbanrootz Awh!! Well thank you! Some tips...drink a ton of water so you pee clear 10-12 times per day, if you feel dizzy/tired/irritated drink more, clear the lymph nodes (rebounding, massage, hot/cold showers, dry skin brushing), REST REST REST, clear your mind before you try to sleep & stick with your sleep schedule, get fresh air and some sun would be amazing. @sweetp888t Thanks for the advice :) Do you use distilled water for your fasts? As I have heard, tap water is essentially useless because of the toxins/impurities it contains.

A water diet? U can't be serious. U do know that the weight will pile right back on the moment u go off it right? We eat for a reason, control it and there's no reason u can't lose the fat.

@JennelleBelle Its not a water diet - Its a fast & I didn't do it for weight loss although that is one of the easiest things to track and show - I did it for healing. I actually have not gained the weight back infact I continue to lose inches & weight still. I follow the 80/10/10 diet and love all the benefits I received from my fast including tons of energy, higher metabolism, efficient elimination, and a wonderful life :D to name a few.

I started my 1 week water fasting today and I am not looking forward to the 3rd day which I heard is the hardest. Any advice you can give me would be greatly appreciated!

@aizacity Hehe! That made my day :) The first few days will only be as bad as your previous diet & lifestyle choices. Just think about how great you will feel once you hit days 4-6 and do things to help your body eliminate (skin brushing, rebounding, hot/cold showers, deep breathing, sunbathing, and of course REST!!). Sleep was probably the worst part the first week so just stick to it the best you can. Good luck on your journey!! <3

i've tried the water fast several times but i've always ended it on day 3 with binging... i really want to complete a 1 week fast but the temptations always get me... any suggestions? also, can i take a multi-vitamin everyday while on the fast? or would it ruin the weight loss? I'm not too concerned with the health, i just want to lose some pounds before summer!

@LovinJae12 Best advice I can give you for cravings is drink more water and/or surround yourself with health - you can research your new lifestyle, new exercise program, get active on a health concious forum, or watch movies to remind you why your doing this: Fast Food Nation, Food Inc, Processed People, Earthlings, Meet Your Meat, you shouldn't want to eat for weeks after that :)

@LovinJae12 As far as vitamins during fasting - I say no - the average person has enough stores for 6 weeks without food. This is what you want your body to use while fasting - you want to get rid of the extra junk so don't add more. Plus most vitamin pills are not easily absorbed by the body so you would just be adding to the problem.

@darkfeather111 I wouldn't drink just straight tap water but that's me. I have a brita filter on my tap so I did drink that during the fast although I switched between that and distilled. I would just say try to drink the cleanest water possible :) Good luck & let me know if you have any more questions!!
