  • or you could just get an apc 40, a launchpad, and a monome128 mahogany like i have and rape the universe. oh wait i forgot you have to know how to compose music , arrange, and map masterfully, like myself for example

  • really good tutorial, but if I ever got my hands on an apc 40 and 20 I would never do this to them, too risky.

  • haha the german work for subscribe is Abonnieren... a bonnerin'

  • Seems like a bad idea though.

  • Crazy

  • This is very inspiring, BUT, I must admit I'm kind of disappointed that there is no internal wiring/merging. How does ableton respond to having both apc plugged in? Do you have to assign who gets to control the scenes and who just remains a MIDI map controller?

  • @icondetroit Not only will Ableton recognize inputs from multiple controllers at once, but the APC's were programmed to work along side one another. It just creates a larger grid for the user. It's featured in a video on Akai's website on the APC 20 page.

  • Fuck warranty. Yeah.

  • Creative but 600 bills gone

  • meh im still waiting for an apc 120 :) nah just kidding this was great :D !!!!

  • Neat!

  • It's all about microprocessors, nothing new under the sun....

  • German precisity. :D

  • wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • so you not merging it in the software its just together now and you still have to plugin 2 controllers and configure them?

  • seems pointless to me

  • why don't you just buy an apc40 and an apc20 and then plug them both in...

  • @aszy4527 Though that would be an easy solution, you'll have to carry two pieces around. this mod is just one piece to carry... ;)

  • @aszy4527 And because its fucking cool man. Why not, if you got the cash. Some people enjoy doing this type of stuff. Its rewarding

  • i would put something in between the 2 joining plastic sides to stop the plastic from bending

  • i dont get why you would do that? sure it looks cool but it'll still needs to be connected seperatly. so all you got is 2 controllers but stuck together... i dont see any advanteges

  • @SHOOTNDEAD i agree, looks great, would b nice for travel, but no technical advantages

  • Very, very cool! We must have one! We have a 20, just ordered a brand new 40, and we are most definitely going to void that warranty just as soon as we assemble all the parts! Thanks for sending to schematic to us! The guys at Rokhead.

  • If you didnt destroy your warranty the first time you will the second time! lol GOtta love them germans

  • this is the second time you void your warrenty now rofl!!! sick controller but what you gunna do that will need that many scenes weres the apc exstraw nobs video???

  • OMG !

  • This is so handy haha and to think I was going to through away all those leftover APCs that I have ... thankyou so much

  • I haven't watch it all just yet, but why would you go to all that trouble, and risk actually breaking them both, and voiding the warrantys when you can just put them side by side? but the final product does look pretty awsome i must admit

  • @lcfc201094 cause its cool

  • Learn maths ! 40 + 20 = 60 not 80 lol

  • @EstonianMusicTeam 40 Clips + 40 Clips = 80 :)

  • @delamartv Yea, but still 40 + 20 = 60 :)

  • @EstonianMusicTeam And 1 + 1 = 2

  • @Whofacesmiles Yes, also 2 + 2 = 4 :)

  • @EstonianMusicTeam Learn English math isn't plural !

  • @Raheem737 yes it is actually, I would suggest that you learn your English before you start handing out that suggestion to other people. mathematics=maths (British English) aka (proper English)

  • @EstonianMusicTeam learn englishes!

  • Great job mate!

  • I used black tape when i made my APC 80

  • That is sick!

  • i made an APC 60 instead with duck tape

  • @tomsawyersucks To mix a bunch of quack loops

  • Or you could save yourself the trouble and just put an APC 40 and an APC 20 next to each other...right?

  • This is really nice and i'm so gonna do this,.tanks a bunch,.. but,. why exactly did you remove all buttoncaps on the apc40 when u only unscrew the apc20 pcb?

    Did i miss something?

  • 40 + 20 = 60 though :o

  • @deathper They're counting the total amount of buttons... the whole 8x5 grid, doubled. That equals 80.

  • ''available at dub dub dub dot''

  • I'd like to thank you very, very much for this video. I did something very stupid - decided it's safe to eat some salad near my gear and ended up spilling a great deal of the dressing on top of the APC :S a rookie mistake! Fortunately, I found your video showing how one dismantles the APC40 and following the instructions I could open it and then clean up the mess and bring my APC back to life. Whew, so I was lucky, everything seems to be fine. Thanks again, and keep up the good work!

  • Vorsprung durch Technik

  • "Welcome to Delamar...fuck"

  • How many toasters did you destroy as a kid?

  • how many people did this

  • thumbs up it you took a knob off your apc 40 just to see if this worked

  • amazing bro, are you co-developer with akai? think about this

  • could you do this with 2 apc40s?

  • HI welcome to delamar.. fucK!

  • i wonder if you could also do a small Mod on the internal power connections so you only need one AC adapter to power the whole thing plus the 2 usb is fine. but sometimes in a club 2 big adapters are just not ideal. any ideas? i'm thinking of doing this with mine too.

  • Thanks for stateing that this voids the warranty :)

  • you still need two usb chords and two power sources

  • should be called the apc 60 ^^

  • german quality heh

  • Maybe Akai can create some type of connector for the 2 units?

  • And that's how you build the heaviest controller on the market.

  • @dansemacabre17 And one of the finest I'd say :)

  • @dansemacabre17 wow that looked easy!

  • @dansemacabre17 You've had the NS7 from Numark

  • @dansemacabre17 HA! Heavy? Obviously you've never worked with REAL hardware other than cheap plastic toys.

  • @icondetroit Ass, u. Me. Obviously, heavy equipment doesn't make you any better as a musician. Also, controllers haven't been heavy, unless they were hammer action keyboards, since the late 80's early 90's.

  • @icondetroit Ass, u. Me. Obviously, heavy equipment doesn't make you any better as a musician. Also, controllers haven't been heavy, unless they were hammer action keyboards, since the late 80's early 90's.

  • @dansemcabre17 - You're obviously talking out or YOUR ass with no experience to back your arguments. Take your uneducated ass to guitar center and go lift the 61 key midi controllers before you start running your mouth looking like a stupid ass.

  • @icondetroit Really? Talking out of my ass. Sure, I didn't work at an online music equipment store for 2 and half years. Sure, I never gigged as a musician carrying heavy gear. Go on. Tell me what else I haven't experienced. I'm not sure what 61 key controller you've been lugging around but they aren't heavy. 20 lbs at the most. Especially when compared to say, a 61 key synth. Try again.

  • @icondetroit Also, pretention about the age, weight, cost and or difficulty of the gear that is used to create music doesn't some how validate anyone as a musician.

  • @dansemacabre17 Sorry. Not at most. On average, controllers of that size are 20lbs. There are controllers that exist that are heavier. The Akai MPK 88 is 67, but I doubt that very many musicians are carrying that beast beyond the studio.

  • @dansemacabre17 Musicians or DJs that use ableton to warp tracks. The point of doing a live set is to have many parameters available at your disposal. That takes a lot of metal and circuit boards, not a wimpy 10lb controller with a couple knobs and pads.

  • @icondetroit You've obviously never used the APC. It natively controls the entire daw and easily allows for infinite knob turning.. The weight of something does not imply it's power. If that were true, guitars would be secondary to an amp.

  • @dansemacabre17 Tell that to Skylab2000 the Godfather of Live PA Trance Tech and Headliner of many Massive Raves over decades.

  • @icondetroit Great. I'm glad he can do that. Not everyone has the resources to gig with 100's of lbs of gear. I'm detecting the same arrogant overtones from your trolling posts as the same ones used by musicians over 20 years ago, in regards to electronic music as whole. Technology changes, and so does music. I'm glad you have a preference to certain gear. Until there is substantial evidence that specific gear use inherently makes someone a better musician, your position is mute.

  • @dansemacabre17 ok, you go play with your 12" casio keyboard and keep telling yourself that a djs records dont matter it's how you mix them lmfao

  • Can you combine 4 ipad become an iBoard?

  • funny how 40 and 20 adds up to 80 xD but well well done, nice fucking job!!!!

  • this is why germans are awesome.

  • @DeliciousIcE132 They have great solutions.

  • Are you connecting the circuit boards too? do you actually have to connect 2 usb's to get them to work?

  • does this void the warranty ?

  • @tbonesixtynine i bet!

  • @tbonesixtynine 5:48 Have you watched the whole video??

  • @tbonesixtynine naaah... no way, no how.

  • @tbonesixtynine did you seriously ask that? didn't you hear the gigantic boom with the sign that said WARRANTY VOID. ?

  • Comment removed

  • @tbonesixtynine no, it extends it by a factor of two

  • @tbonesixtynine at 05:50 warranty is voided

  • hahaha that warning was sick

  • how about two apc20? should work in the same fashion right?

  • ahaha i love this iv got the apc40 but dont like it aestheticly because its not semetrical win

  • 2:04 Do all germans make that noise when they work hard?

  • i did this and my knobs easyly come off now not as sturdy as before

  • this looks.... massively expensive.

  • @ProjectEndgame `? it isnt

  • Warranty is now void :(

  • Nice work on that APC mod!! I do not own any of those but I plan to buy them soon!! Good to see the Bosch Screwdriver, since I am a Bosch Power Tools Engineer!!!

  • now try it with yours one guys...

  • Great idea

  • hi Raycivoltz.

    nice video.

may i suggest to create the APC 80 decal for the face...

that would be the finished touch...and nice work.

  • Is it possible to combine two APC 40s in a similar fashion?

  • @WodensRaven It is possible to do it with two APC 40. I just heard yesterday about it. We haven't done it for ourselves though

  • Shouldn't it be called an apc 60?

  • this only make your apc's harder to carry..pointless

  • there is absolutely no reason to do this. All this does is make 2 easily transportable pieces of equipment into 1 big hassle.

  • You freaking rock! Great work :)

  • yo seriously, how about to pay you an make me one...

  • How about I just Pay you to make me one lol

  • What size of screws do you need?

  • "just grab the knobs... Ahh AhhhhAhhh!"

  • Thanks heaps man made my apc80 and its the fuckn sic ill put vid on wen iv done all my new midi mapping

  • sick stuff :)

  • Absolutely Awesome!

  • yeah just put them next to each other and you still have warranty.

  • youre crazy mannn....... why ?! ?! whyyyy

  • they should just sell APC80s. damn that looked so neat i drooled.

  • Wow.. great job! And that heated knife was like an upgraded weapon.. wow!

  • So pro and awesome, greta job man!

  • @frydae like I got explained it's more like: 40 clips + 40 clips = 80 clips :)

  • i wouldn't dare to do this, i don't want to mess my controllers up, ill stick to putting them besides eachother...

  • 40+20=80

  • @JIMVOMIT yea, haha...it's more like: 40 clips + 40 clips = 80 clips :)

  • @delamartv sorry i didnt count each pad

  • So, very obvious question.... Can I send you an apc20/40 and pay for your talent?

  • Awesome, I just got me a 40, so a month or 2 I think I'll be havin a pop at this one. Nice one Ray!!! Awesome.

  • i'm blown out. ...need to get an apc 20 like... NOW!

  • Lmao i cant wait to see when some connects annoter abc 20 to each side of that lmao u could just keep going and have a huge controller props on doing that man

  • @Chied420 Not sure this will happen any time soon :)

  • DAS IS SOWAS VON EPISCH!!!! ;) weiter so!

  • massive!

  • APC60*

  • the new future decks for digital dj...amazing :D 1 music 1 button :D

  • @IcarusTuga7: I might go for it some day. who knows ;)

  • aWESOME !! ******

  • Cool

  • Wow this is incredable i swear wooooooooooooow hahah your amazing and got some balls : P or just money i would try this if i had extra cash to fork out for another apc40 if need be :P but i have faith inmyself i dont think i would mess up :D thanks for this great video and tutorial =]

  • @LucidSpore It's not that difficult...best

  • @delamartv Now can you go about telling me how to configure two APC's to ableton, that way one can run as master lets just say, and the other is programmable just like any other midi controller? :D thats all i need to know hehe

  • Ok I just got an APC 20 over the weekend at GC for $99. I managed to get it open and remove the side panel on both the 40 and the 20. Befor I go any further I need to know what size bolt screws your using and the screws for the bottom plate. The bottom plate is 50cm x 20cm can you translate to inches so i can go to a metal shop and have it cut for me.

  • @Antonio229: follow the link to the delamar website - there is a PDF on there that contains all the info you need.

  • what a great, informative video.

    thumbs up!

    cheers

    ~Eleven
