Actually it is the camera disfunctioning. Sometimes they mess up. See the full Monsterquest episode. They set up a highspeed next to a normal camera and record the same rod. On the high speed, it is a moth. The camera just stretches the image.

No, if you watched the documentary closely you would have realized that they debunked most of the rod video EXCEPT this one. This one is far too large to be a "bug". It goes behind a cloud that is 5000 ft. in the air.
