  • La Dispute are lyrical geniuses.

  • This song is just fucking genius.

  • I'm the guy in the situation... and I feel like I'm viewing my relationship from the females point of view in this song

  • roles.. fucking... reversed

  • I hate comparing bands and debating genres, but ladies and gentlemen who enjoy A Day to Remember, yeah, this is hardcore.

  • you know that hope you're holding onto? it looks an awful lot like fear....<3

  • Its like Poetry and Rock came together and made a baby. i usually listen to hip/hop but this i

    is the shit.

  • Being completely serious, is the singer a homosexual?

Only reason I ask is he keeps saying boy.

  • @BryceRedix Probably singing from a girl's perspective.

  • @BryceRedix

It's a point of view change.

The beginning is sung from the point of view of some girl talking to a guy about breaking up with him because of his fear, probably of commitment.

Then the second half is the boy's response.

Bam! Total story reversal. I love it.

  • @AbstractLife13 Thanks for explaining it, because I wasn't trying to bash them or anything because I absolutely love them and their music, I just didn't understand what was going on. loll. :p

  • somebody told me about this band...and the more songs of them i listne to, the more i get excited to hear more of them

  • What i love most about them, is how the lyrics flow so perfectly. every song is like a perfect and beautiful story,.

  • Every single word in this song seems to be talking of me...

  • if you dont like the music, why are you here? fuck off.

  • These don't seem like songs, they seem like stories

  • @whiteharsh that's why i love them .

  • Don't you just love those songs that you can totally relate to? This is definetly that song. c:

  • oh my god This is song Is So Ammaazing!! Just Like the rest of their songs haha <333

  • if my fear has kept me here then only my fear can set me free <3

  • Every song by this band iv noticed has a variety of hateful comments. iv seen that people dis and love this band. we have our own preference. if you love this band you already know this is a different type of music. it will get dislikes just as much as it will get likes. Respect music, but dont get mad when people cant do that. Its better to let the haters hate. Sit back. Enjoy the ride

  • Too legit to fucking quit!!!! I'm a fan now

  • Such an ubelievAble song writer their lyrics is so beautiful makes me look at things and feel differently wow

  • Lava Spew

  • La dispute=questionablesexualitycore

  • it would be so fuggin amazing to see these live...they should be at warped tour

  • Seeing these legends in February! ^_^

  • The first time I ever heard them, I absolutely fell in love with their lyrics but didn't really get the singers voice. Now, they're one of my favorite bands. So yes, its an acquired taste. But my God, am I glad his voice grew on me. Such an amazing song writer.

  • @SouthON13 : My daughter's been playing this band for ages, and I was turned off by his voice, then I started listening to the lyrics... good stuff indeed... =)~

  • My girl, you must understand that fear is not some product that I made. It crept unwelcome in my head the day they had you torn away. It changed me.

  • Pretty good.

If you like these guys you should check out mewithoutyou, way better.

  • wow. so much love for this one :]

  • his vocals are so raw and the emotion rings so true in every song.

La Dispute is too dam amazing.

  • It doesn't get better than La Dispute.

    It just doesn't.

  • 0:52 amazing break down

  • You had my hand in your hand

You had my lip in your teeth

You had my heart on your sleeve

You had a chance to breathe

But boy, you wouldn't let your fear recede

    So I moved on....

That part of this song is bad ass

  • i love the vocals. It's unique, and you can hear the emotion in his voice.

  • @russellbolle1 look up the band saetia if you like his voice they sound alike

  • Good Lyrics, Good Instrumentals, Awful singing

  • @TheNannerPancakes think the singing is great. different with plenty of emotion

  • La Dispute has some of the most heartfelt lyrics ive ever heard. they are soo beautifully written its insane <3

  • This song blew me right fucking away. Never heard of the band before, thank god for Rock sound magazine and their article on these guys. Off to listen to every other song that they have ever made :)

  • this song describes my current situational catastrophe. i didnt realize that until i listened to it for the first time about 10 minutes ago and almost shit my pants.

  • fuck band !

  • @Raphael66652210 Fuck you.

  • everyone who say these guys are a heavier version of mewithoutyou obviously havent followed the band through its past. There not like mewithoutyou

  • @DanalnWondrland my thoughts exactly.

  • I can't even get over how fucking amazing this band is.

  • at first, I didn't like this band. but they have grown on me and now I can't stop listening to them.

it's amazing how much they help me think.

  • They perfectly emulate their recorded sound live, I'll give them that.

Saw them with Thrice tonight. So many people were really energetic about them, it was invigorating just to be around it. I don't see what people like about them, other than the quirky vocals...

Still, they put on a good show.

  • @TentativeTitle1 The bands emotion and lyrics are what's so good about them.

  • This suck!!!!!

    NOT!

  • love this song. its so great. the beginning is almost like a southern hardcore kind of sound. incredible:)

  • There like a heavier version of mewithoutyou

  • i think that everyone should stop saying certain music sucks....if you are a true lover of music you would respect all types of music instead of being closed minded. :) just because it sounds different and you are not used to it doesnt mean you wont end up liking it :)

  • awesome song .....thumbs up for the drummer.last album kick ass too.

  • i think ill stick to screamo, metal and rock, nothing against anyone who likes la dispute just not as hardcore as i hoped anyways enjoy ur music ill stop trolling now lol (if anyone would een concider ths trolling)

  • @WOLFGANGFIGHTER52 I don't. I enjoy Hardcore Punk in all forms and I genuinely think it's wrong to call certain screamo bands hardcore. Even though it's a subgenre of hardcore some bands do so much with their music it's wrong to classify it in to one catergory. I mean listen to this followed by why it scares me followed by nobody not even the rain, no way you can put them in one genre

  • shit blows hard.

  • Its doesn't really matter to me if people think he sounds like cat dying....its not ment to sound like a chorus of angels....it's poetry.....he's singing what he feels....Most music these days is about sex...or getting drunk. This to me is like listening to a mad genius....

  • I can't believe this was on a related videos list for Man Overboard when I was listening to "Dylan's Song". I was curious, @0:30. When the vocals came on. I automatically stopped listening to it. Sounds like a cat trying to sing.

  • Wow !! really pretty bad

  • One of my favorite things about this band is all the immature haters... people who cant be open mindedso instead the hate on a great band that has actual purpose... go start shit somewhere else

  • I agree with spidershane1 fuck this music these guys should just cut a little deeper so we dont have to listen to this shit

  • @Swantar120 and just like SpiderShane1 you have a terrible disability called downs

  • @Swantar120 Sometimes, no one really gives a shit about whatever you think, hence making it totally unimportant and useless.

  • @Swantar120 no ones forcing you to listen to it....if you dont like it dont listen. the people who like it will listen.

  • @Swantar120 Dude, I get the whole "Everyone has their own opinions" thing, I can respect that. But that's a fucking disgusting thing to say, and for God's sake you had better be ashamed of it. I don't see how anyone could think a fucking suicide joke would be funny. That's just fucking pathetic.

  • (':

  • @SpiderShane1 Of course. Because La Dispute and Limp Bizkit have so much in common... o_0

  • @SpiderShane1 Anyone ever tell you you're ugly?

  • @Dthe3d Nope. I actually look quite good. I might put a picture up on my profile one of these days so you too can see how acttractive I am. Thanks for the concern though, buddy ;)

  • @SpiderShane1 Congratulations! :D

  • @Dthe3d Thanks! :D

  • @SpiderShane1 Poor poor boy... you have nothing better to do than hate on others. Get a life sir. (:

  • @UmmEhhGah Respect this man. He may not agree with you as far as music is concerned but he sure as hell knows how to deflect a troll.

  • @SpiderShane1 For your information, these guys are some of the best people you'll ever meet and talk to. And their music is way more than good. You don't see me talking shit on your favorite songs, do you? Don't like, don't listen. Sorry to see that a band with actual potential scares you.

  • @Wrior These guys are so cool! i dont understand people who have to hate on bands, because it isnt like everyone likes the same music! thanks for telling that guy off!

  • @SpiderShane1 can someone explain how in any way they sound like limp bizkit... anyone... anyone... beuller?

  • I'm gonna get a tattoo on my back that says "You were wrong"

I wait anxiously for that day..

  • Comment removed

  • I totally agree with @VanityGoreKillsKid

I would most likely get some of their lyrics tattooed on myself as well.

  • His voice is cracking. If you can't hear it you're deaf.

  • @MrSination we can hear it, thats what we love about the music. raw and passionate

  • i just found la dispute while listening to pierce the veil and im kinda obssesed with such small hands and this song..... if you have ANY sugestions let me know :3 PWEASE

  • @shortysofia50714 Alexis on fire , Sleeping with sirens , circa survive

I would set myself on fire for you, check that band out. They aren't around anymore, which really sucks

  • @iggykiller mm kay thanks for your help <3 :D

  • The lyrics aren't bad, but why does he sound like he's going through puberty?

  • @MrSination I actually feel like punching you in the face.

  • @ITSxNOTxREAL lol thanks 4 the free replay buttons

  • @nataliev95 Psh, of course. This songs amazing.

  • This is my favorite song by La Dispute. <3

  • Wish i had listened to this album earlier in life it would have helped alot

  • REAL eMo Music!

  • @WoltaireAnarchist not emo in the sense of pathetic little whiney kids who scratch themselves for attention, but emotional and passionate music... that better be what you meant, right?

  • @dograbbitbeaver That's nowhere even close to eMo, don't you try stereotyping the sub-culture of a great Genre. eMo has nothing to do with slefharm, and most of the time it's not for attention but emotional disorders. eMo means emotive-hardcore and was a sub-genre or an offspring to hardcore-punk in the 80s where kids picked up the speed and vocals from hardcore-punk and changed the lyrics from political to personal. I don't self-harm, most of those who do are posers that have been labeled

  • @WoltaireAnarchist i was simply asking if you meant the stereotype i was referring to or not, unfortunatly most people dont think of emos as what you described, they think of what posers done to it which is what i said...

  • @dograbbitbeaver Oh, sorry for the misunderstanding then, no i didn't mean the stereotype, i'm one of those that tries to bring hardcore violence back to Emotive Hardcore instead of fucking up the genres like the media did. Real eMo died in the 90s but this band proves that it can be brought back to life, the media mixed up emotive hardcore with indie that had emotional lyrics

  • @dograbbitbeaver That's actually the REAL definition of emo as well, it was a term picked up by the media back in the 80s to describe bands such as Rites of Spring, Orchid, Saetia, Pg.99

and the fans were called emos. The sub-culture didn't rise before the 2000s, anybody that says they're emo and means that it stands for emotional, i'm just saying beat the real shit into their heads. People have forgotten the DIY style that once was in eMo. I can find a page for you that describes it pretty good

  • i was introduced to this music by a german on omegle. great stuff.

  • @kjfld hahahahahah

  • @kjfld That's fuqin awesome!

  • am i the only one who thinks getting song lyrics tattooed on yourself is extremely overrated. i get some lyrics can mean alot to you, but its kinda like plagarism to me, your getting someone elses words that they worked on etched on your body. and people will see that and think your deep and ur really not, u can just look up song lyrics. just do what i do and if u get certain lyrics stuck in your head, carve them in your wall with a screwdriver =]

  • @freakenjew It's very common to get lyrics and quotes as tattoos. Lots of people know that, so lots of people won't just assume she wrote it herself. Most bands appreciate things like that. I would personally see it as like the highest form of honor to know that someone liked your work so much they had it permanently become a part of their body. It's flattering. I have yet to hear of a band sue a person for getting their lyrics tattooed on them. It's not overrated if it truly affects you.

  • @EliAmbrosia could not have said it better myself. If i ever made something special enough for someone to get it tattooed on themselves, i would feel so accomplished to inspire someone to that degree.

  • This is the only music that can make me feel so much alive under 3 minutes.

  • La Dispute needs to quit writing songs about my life.

  • they are sick, pretty awesome

  • fuck yes... i always wondered what this song was... and now i realize... this man is a genius.

  • sort of expected a Gang of Four cover...not that I'm complaining or anything.

  • 0:51

  • nope, still don't see why people like them. instrumentals are pretty sick, vocals are balls

  • Can someone give me their 'Top Ten' La Dispute songs?

    Thanks.

  • @mpa1121 just get the CD somewhere in the river between Vega and Altair and you won't be disappointed.

  • My bf introduced me to this band and I have loved them ever since!

I cant even begin to explain how much I LOVE La Dispute.

    Also

    @VanityGoreKillsKid Best tattoo ever! =]

  • If its not such a big of a problem for you guys, check out this band called THE LOVELESS. I am just a fan trying to help out.

  • watch?v=e9Lqeew5nL

  • interesting is that a band that is more post-hardcore than screamo considers itself to be screamo :D

  • @Therojo "Screamo" isn't a real genre. It's a shit term people came up with to describe music with screaming in it. e___e

  • @breath3easy Actually it's a real genre, but the term's usage has gotten out of hand. Check out Orchid and Saetia for the original REAL screamo bands.

  • @Therojo NO!

  • @Therojo screamo isn't a genre.

  • @Rectangularification Screamo is a genre... it came from he early emo, hardcore and noise rock scenes.

  • k so what i'm getting from this song is that he fell in love with a guy while he still loved a girl..?

  • @RIPGLITCH jesus christ you're dumb

  • @Rectangularification fuck you

  • @RIPGLITCH I don't really see it ... and I'm someone who can find homoerotic subtext in everything.

  • lol wtf? ga....y

  • @AmvNightmare sorry for my laguage but "fag"

  • @pyropandaXD sometimes just "sorry" isnt enough

  • amazing song. can anyone tell me what album this is off?

  • @HCTK11 they only have 1 album I think. Its called Somewhere At the Bottom of the River Between Vega and Altair

  • @HCTK11

    thanks heaps!

  • It's like an even more pre-pubescent-angsty Linkin Park...and I didn't think that was even remotely possible :/

  • @SpiderShane1 You obviously know nothing about this kind of music.

  • @TheCoolster Sure I know about this kind of music, you weren't the only one who had the freakin Limp Bizkit CD when you were 13. This is like a Limp Bizkit/Linkin Park mash up.

  • @SpiderShane1 Do you mean that seriously?

  • @SpiderShane1 LOL I hope you're a troll. If not then you just dont understand how wrong you are.

  • @SpiderShane1 You are comparing them to Linkin Park and Limp Bizkit? Those bands don't play at all. This is Post-Hardcore; the kind that sounds like it did when it first started. I think it's the vocals that are hard to get used to.. I would love this band if the singing wasn't so harsh, but the playing is nothing like LB/LP.

  • @SteakDoll The vocals sound just like Limp Bizkit, and the music sounds like Linkin Park. And just like Linkin Park, the lyrics are super teenage angsty, constantly complaining about some vague other person who is always wronging them. This just reminds me of something that a 13 year old boy would blast in his room and pout to after his mom yells at him and takes his playstation away.

  • @SpiderShane1 Limp Bizkit and LP have nothing on these guys. The lyrics are deep and meaningful in most of their songs and the music is just great. Listen to more of their stuff. It's all a little different.

  • This band is amazing -

No one ever tell me differently.

    La Dispute ♥

  • This got relevant since the last time I listened to this.

  • :D

  • Does this band hire a sixth grader to write their lyrics?

  • @mbdafool

    Die.

  • @mbdafool YES! This fucking comment.

  • @mbdafool no they found the next best thing to jesse lacey or shakesphere

  • 0.52-0.56

    Wow.

  • Comment removed

  • People shouldnt only listen to La Dispute - look in the bottom right hand corner - No Sleep Records Logo = LISTEN TO ALL THIER FUCKIN' BANDS ('cause theyre all really good)

  • interesting....reminds me of mewithoutyou

  • @jascrystalspike early mewithout you, actually. they left the intense, emotional music aside to make songs about foxes.

  • "How could I risk holding your heart in me while still in love with her"

Legit what my ex told me...

This band-3 their lyrics hold so much meaning

  • @CookieMonsterrr381 Who's band 1 and 2??

  • i wonder if all these songs are geared towards a specific person.

  • suck it

  • Does anyone else feel this was inspired by The Paper Chase?
