Racist people aren't really "bad" people, they have a skewed view of what people are... it's their created reality.
My brother is somewhat racist (we're latino by the way) and he's in his late 20's. I try talking to him about his ways, but from constantly talking to him, I come to some understanding of why he is the way he is.
Still, I don't agree with his views; I always tell him to get over what's happened in his past & "color" is not how to view the world. Steve did good with Gary.
