how can they take baseball out of the olympics and keep table tennis where only one country dominates. USA didn't even win gold in baseball or softball! China swept the medals in table tennis and will continue so for a long long time..
I think wang hao also ''cho-ed" so much to show respect to persson. If wang hao screams cho after each point he makes against a legend like persson, it means he actually has to work hard for his points which in return is giving persson great respect for what he is. persson can look back at that match with a great feeling because wang hao, number 1 of the world had to give his all to win. Screaming cho in this match was mentally helping wang hao and also giving respect to his legendary oponent
why are ping pong players (or table tennis, is it offensive to call it ping pong? o.o) so excited after every single points? even badminton players or tennis players don't yell like that after a rally. The only sport I recall where players get fired up like is curling......
in such a technically demanding game the mental aspect is incredibly important. celebrating the point is a way of lifting your spirit and putting your opponent off at the same time.
the chinese do this the most because of their philosophy of winning by any means.
also take into account this was the olympic semifinal and taking the win was very important. in some less important matches wang hao wouldn't have "choed" so much.
stupid to say something like that qwerty3862. Persson played his own game, he tried to make points himself which is great against wang hao. 4-1 looks like a big difference but its actually not. If you play your own game and try to make points on your own and not rely on the mistakes of others only, then it doesnt matter if you lose or not, then you learned something and did the best you can do and thats it. But persson didnt get owned in here and no im not a persson fan, im a wang hao fan...
poor perrson.. not bad for an old timer though

"cho-ing" is all about mental games.

Table tennis is extremly mentally demanding. Sounds a big strange, but it's 100% true.
