i knew he didnt come out till part way through filming but i hate the fact that he feels he needs to lie i mean he says he's known he was gay his entire life and to keep that a secret whilst playing a role so important to his lifestyle and sexuality must have been extremely difficult.

Robert probably wasn't out at that time of the interview. He went into the show in the closet but came out during the duration of it.
