I love the kids & I love your work! And I love the fact that you show the world how great it is to be a music teacher =) I'd love to see you and the kids working together.
A very warm 'thank you for your work & inspiration' from Germany
In chorus they learn by rote. In my general music class they learn theory and notation. Of course I do my best to integrate the terminology and theory they learn into their choral instruction wherever possible.
As someone just said to me, toddlers need to talk before they can read. Accordingly children their age need to make music before they can read it. It'd be self/student-defeating to approach choral directing otherwise at this stage of development, and in a public school setting.
i am so amazing still that children can sing in harmony! it's so difficult to have different parts but they do it so well. i am so proud of them, they are amazing. :) hopefully one day they can sing one of my songs too. keep it up kids, you are the future. :)
as great as the kids sound in harmonies, wouldn't allowing them to learn popular songs from radio or tv spread this talent to a variety of people? i dont think the views are depicting the attention these kids should be getting.
iceydealer: Have you seen the other videos? They sing tons of pop music and have garnered international attention. Also people probably take these videos and put them up under different names, so the view count you see here is only so indicative.
Absolutely amazing. Best of luck to you and this year's new chorus. Have you ever thought of doing the Hebrew song Al Shlosha D'Varim? I think your kids would do phenomenal with something like that. Or Starlight by Muse? Keep up the great work!
That was a pretty challenging song! But they aced this one too! Thanks for sharing. Good luck to the 2009 singers as they move on. They will have tons of happy memories to cheer them up when things are rough.
i appreciate your acknowledging the difficulty level. their ears astound me that they were able to pick up some of the more dissonant changes so easily and deliver them with accuracy. half steps are not fun with elementary school kids as a rule.... but they nailed it. i'm glad to hear that people are enjoying this.
Wow!!

Besides the music and the children and the teacher, I think what I love the most is the trust and inclusiveness.

Yeah something by muse would be good. Maybe invincible? Could do some nice harmonies, which is what the kids seem to be really good at. :D
