Years from now we will learn the truth about ABBA.....that they and their music were sent down from the heavens to save us all from ourselves.........well...........either that, or they just happened to end up being one of the GREAT pop bands of all time; one that gave us ALL so much great music to be thankful for!
If yoy watch the Abba story from 1999 Frida admits she was envious of the choice of Agnetha for the leads very gracious of her to admit and she recently said she wished her voice was like Agnethas and she admired her as asinger more than anyone else! very very gracious of her! lovely lady Frida is! and Agnetha is always praising Frida in interviews also re her work on stage dancing her voice and one of her favourite Abba songs being lead by Frida Our last summer x.
1 S.O.S 2 Name of the game,3 Take a chance on me,4 Chiquita,5 Gime Gime,6 Winner takes, 7 Lay all your love,8 One of us, 9 Head over heels, 10 The day before you came,11 Under attack,12 Thankyou for the music ! all leads by Agnetha. Frida also did some solo passages on Name of Game but most was done by Agnetha!
Hi i agree that Agnetha did most of the leads on the Abba hits thats fact! if you go through the list she did 12 leads to Fridas 5! the rest shared but Abba had 19 no.1 singles not 9!!!! you must be talking just about u.k only! which is only one country! i also agree that Agnethas voice was the strongest force in Abba! x.
Agnetha was a great singer. The most distinctive thing about Abba is her voice. Not to belittle Frida and the others, but most of the hit songs were sung by Agnetha
@keftakabab Not true at all! These are the ranking of biggest hits in Britain with solo leads
FRIDA LEADS
Super Trouper - (no 1)
Knowing Me Knowing You - (no 1)
Fernando - (no 1)
Money Money Money - (no 3)
So, Frida had THREE ABBA lead No 1s and 4 Top 5 hits In comparison Agnetha had only ONE vocal lead No 1 (The Winner Takes It All) and ONE other top five hit (One Of Us - No. 3)
Please back up your facts when you say "most of the hit songs were sung by Agnetha".
@woutch You have right for a "commercial" reason.. Frida sung more than Agnetha in this case.. but i think keftakabab just say "Agnetha song much more in all ABBA discography" - in fact, is true! I really hear her voice much more than Frida One. Obviously each other are SUPER, in two different ways: Frida have deep, mature and sophisticated voice, Agnetha has sweet, kind, more "childish" voice.. Together these women make the history of ABBA. At least, they are super women.
@RoseDelfineValentine Oh, totally agree with you. I adore both singers equally. They are incredibly unique. It's just I was defending facts. He said most of the "HIT" songs were sung by Agnetha, and this is not true!
@michaelleacy You're right. But when I realised the mistake I remembered that I left out Agnetha's No. 3 hit Gimme Gimme Gimme, so with Frida's I Have A Dream added it still puts Frida lead vocals higher than Agnetha's when it comes to the "bigger hits"!
Can remember watching this and was so upset when the show was cut short before Abba finished their song. This was such a poignant moment. Thanks for posting.
Man! That's even worst..! the uncertainty of not knowing...!a living torture... the never ending expectation...! At least you have your own memories to cherish... unfortunately, people like me can only relate to Abba's music through YouTube and electronic devices... I guess it is better than having nothing to remember.
It feels sad to witnesses the end of ABBA's life performings... eventhough I'm watching it 27 years later! Can't even imagine how it felt at that time for their fans all over the world! At this moment I feel nostalgic and sad... damn...
@gupr731122ks4 Well, we never knew it was "the end" at the time. And even the following year (and beyond) they just said they were "on a break" and there's be more records "in the future". Apart from the 45 minutes of unreleased recording that came in the 1990s, we're still waiting for that "break" to come to an end. !
You don't attain global pop music status, be guests on a show, and not expect to sing, hence the guitar and keyboard. A bit of showmanship on the host's part, I suppose. Mic or no mic, Agnetha was a real trouper and bent over for the key and made best with what she had...her voice. And no surprise, everyone picked up on it with harmony almost seamlessly. True stars without equal.
O mundo teria sido muito mais triste sem os ABBAs. O sorriso de muitos, inclusive o meu estaria "apagado, sem brilho"!!! - Obrigado ABBAs por voces existirem!!!.
The BBC have made a number of Cock Up's - EG: erasing rare performances & TV shows, One of the biggest must be cutting this show short. Just who was the idiot that did not allow this live edition of The Late Late Breakfast Show to over-run it's time slot by just a matter of 50 seconds?
Now nearly 27 years on we can finally see the performance in full.
At least Aunty did not wipe this tape - But it shoud have been aired in full in the first place - Thanks so much for uploading - A real Gem
Aggie (not Aggy, LOL) was asking Bjorn if he had a micophone, to which he shakes his head and looks grumpy. The boom-microphone tries desperately to pick up her voice. Later she says the Noel Edmonds that she was "looking for the microphone" to which he replies "I think it was picked up on the boom okay."
Hey Alex,,,Exactely what's wrong with Aggy? I'm sure the United States ( along with many other countries ) and the United Kingdom have different ways of spelling things, but to mock a fellow Abba fan just isn't right! My channel is faithfully called "Aggy Productions USA* " and I don't think Agnetha would object in the slightest way.
Oh no, I am not mocking. I did find the odd way of spelling Aggie funny though. To me, to spell it as Aggy would be to pronounce it as Adjie, which was why I laughed! I do know that Americans spell their words differently, so there's nothing wrong really and I certainly wasn't mocking you! However, it is a criminal offence for you to type ABBA as Abba! :-)
I certainly wasn't referring to myself when I wrote the comment the first time and I definitly wasn't trying to come across as nasty because that's not my nature at all......but I have to take offence to your last paragraph. You didn't type that in your original response to me ( not posted here on this video ) did you decide to add this so all could see?
I am really sorry, I didn't think you were coming over as nasty at all, and neither was I. I had a smiley face on the post!
I didn't think my reply to you had appeared which was why I typed it out again. I wasn't aware that it had gone to you privately.
I don't know what you mean, however, by you taking offence at my "last paragraph" as I can only see ONE paragraph, except for my sign-off which said "warmest regards", and I am sure that you weren't offended by that?
The last comment here is what I was talking about....I type ABBA as Abba because there are times when it looks too big and bulky in certain situations.
@ji61m Indeed, amongst all the big ABBA fans I know here in the UK, we have always called her Aggie, and it's a term of endearment more than anything!! No need for anyone to get pedantic or sniffy about it. We love Aggy!
@DistantCousin Hmm, I don't know if you find this relevant at all, but "Aggie" sounds a little ugly and harsh in Agnetha Fältskogs native language. Perhaps because it reminds us of words like "hagga", which is "mean bitch" ;)
Thank you for this last bit of Abba goodness....What I would have given to have been in the audience just then. Is there anyone out there in Abbaville who was at this particular show? I would love to hear about it.
I would give you hundreds of stars for the brilliant stuff you are posting, Woutch! I think I have an article in one of the old ABBA magazines about the show, as experienced by the chap who was on the stage. I will dig it out.
Thanks very much. I am trying to post things that nobody else has, or stuff that I use at the fan club. I know that Kevin Munn (the fan in the video) used to subscribe to ABBA fan magazines including one I was involved in a few years back (ABBA Report).
Bill's a great guy from England who also appreciates Agnetha and the group very much. He shared your video with all his friends because he liked it very much and wanted us to see it. They're probably thanking him for the share.
What a treat -Thankyou so much for posting it.
