This is quite an awesome severe Tstorm..the shelf-cloud, the loud frequent thunder, the high-winds, the whiteout downpours..nice view of the marinas, BTW... Normally southern LI NY seldom gets severe Tstorms due to the proximity of the Tstorm-depleting sea breezes...but this one's exceptional...I too had some thunder videotaped and YouTubed also on SUN 6/8/08...but nothing compared to your own awesome video....I'm from southern RI...I did get a biggie here 7/1/09, though! i love to trace and follow storms and i just love when lots of rain lightning and thunder comes i was in the car in houston tx when it was 104 degrees then as fast as 5 minuets black clouds just surrounded us the street and traffic lights went down and we were stuck it was scary i was holding on to my couson for dear life lol
June 9, , and Just had a small thunderstorm go right through Rochester NY. at 1:15. rained, and thundered for 30 minutes. It's over now. Nothing like this storm.
i was going to my camp during this storm. they made us walk in the rain and in my chorus class it sounded so weird with the singing and the thunder. lol
I remember that storm! I was doing homework durring it lol. I remeber my genius brother went outside with his friend and my mom was freaking out and my brother said he saw the rain spinning in like a clockwise direction..like a tornado. A tree fell down in my back yard. That storm was insane.
been having very very very bad storms on LI latly not used to it hail the thunderstorms was awesome but the sounds u guys made where priceless haha i keeped on laughing i live just off off east islip not much hits here but all around us is very bad

Nice! I see you have a Davis Vantage Pro2 station there. What was the recorded wind gust of that storm? The highest I've had on mine is 57 MPH, and I live in Wyandotte, MI.
NJ had this too, about 2 days later, on the 10th. We lost power for 2 days. It SUCKED.
I'm seething over here too because I hear thunder cracking in the background right now as I type, once again, the weather report says severe storms are possible.
I like a good thunderstorm, but when they knock down trees, ruin property, and knock out power causing you to lose food that goes bad in the fridge, that SUCKS.
yes it sure does! there were tornado warnings for the Hudson Valley earlier this evening, and now theres a bow-echo of storms headed for me again. theres been lots of severe weather so far this season!
i posted a video of the other night... poor quality but you can see the wind was pretty bad. not much rain though - we need a good 2 inches. send some. :)

I remember this storm, I live in East Meadow, there wasnt a tornado. I would remember if there was since I love experiencing severe storms.

My family and I were stuck in that exact storm in a car. It was terrifying, and we pulled over because the rain and wind was so fast we couldn't see.

I recorded a gust to 36 mph, but I estimated winds at 54 mph based on wind damage.
