Wow... I knew Jill wrote the tune and that they put Erykah on it because she was more famous or whatever (at the time) but I didn't know The Roots actually recorded a version with Jill's vocals on it. This is a rare gem! Thanks to whoever posted it!

I just learned jill scott was on this originally. Thats how it usually goes in the music biz...they pick whoever would bring in more listeners. Not that Jill Scott doesn't have a huge following but I don't think she was that big, I think she was just starting to breakout. Either way, both ladies did a fine job.

Yeah apparently the Studio forced the Roots to release this song with Erykah Badu since she was more well known than the the unknown Jill Scott at the time. Jill Scott's vocals are so much more soothing. Anyways, when the Roots toured, 90% of the time it was Jill singing.
