  • Try fruit smoothies with a carat and hemp protein don't use water. Welch's juice grape red or white. Apple's kiwis , strawberry, blueberries, bananas, and pomegranate . goji berry . Take a multivitamin and it in the blender with the fruit ,. Tried to do a 80 to 90% rawl diet .

  • An apple (hopefully an organic one!) can help curb a sweet tooth. It also takes awhile to eat an apple, so you might realize you're full from whatever else you've eaten recently in the time it takes you to finish the apple. Maybe put some kind of nut butter on it for fat and protein.

  • One more thing -- I haven't had to fight a craving in months due to 1. volumetrics, and 2. eating before I'm hungry (people who aren't hungry/craving don't think about unhealthy food choices, nor miss them in leu of veggie/fruit/lean protein based food. I don't suggest eating raw carrots, but tipping a diet toward volumetrics is the most effective, healthiest eating decision a person can make.

  • Volumetrics obliterates cravings. Your body is a weighing machine; it craves more food when you don't eat enough high density food (pizza and cinnamon rolls are low density, vs fruits and veggies). Fruits and veggies contain high, high content of water, which is zero calorie. Therefore your body accounts the no-cal water in fruits and veggies as food when "weighing in." You can't drink water with food for this to work, the water has to be integral in the chemistry of the food.

Chcken soup boiled for a couple of days? All nutrition is going to gone if you boil it for so long. Try salads. BTW Greens fill you up. Cashew butter also full of fat. So is coconut oil - although this is definately the best thing nutritionally on your list.

    cheese;dairy is good but also high in fat and cream is not good for you.

    that bone broth soup has alot of sodium in it

    coconut oil like i said it very bad for you, and its oil so its fattening.

    sorry, but i would never try any of these foods to satisfy myself. i would probably gain more weight eating those, than i would eating the original craving.

  • Cleaning up cat vomit also instantly gets rid of all food cravings (discovered that tonight) for a very long time. Getting kicked in the junk also works. I must admit though, these ideas sound infinitely better.

  • You should look into food sensativities such as gluten and dairy. I have completely eliminated these from my diet. There are medical doctors suggesting that we can become addicted to the very foods we are allergic to and they can have an opiate-like effect on the brain. I am basing this from my own experience, medical doctors opinions, and your choices of binging, which are cracker, pretzels (wheat) and butter (dairy).

  • Catherine, I hope you take the criticisms in stride. Nutrition is a complex field. The bottom line is that fat, protein, and fiber help you feel satisfied, and refined grains and sugar drive your hunger incessantly. MOST people don't have the time or inclination to wade through all the confusing information and various programs (most of which have value but contradict each other heavily). A simple stepwise approach tends to result in lasting changes, which often results in wanting to know more.

Yes, you have some facts straight but u r treading on dangerous ground because the reduction of food cravings should not be the center of any eating plan! Health is about understanding what vitimins, minerals, amino acids, enzymes, pro-biotics etc u r "low" on & other very technical issues such as acid alkali balance, eating what's right for your body type, eating certain things at the right time of day etc

  • @menderfire9 you are perfectly right! Our body is very complex.

    To help reduce cravings I use some chromium picol. which will help with stabilizing the blood sugar and helping utilizing the sugar and therefore reducing/suppressing cravings.

  • @menderfire9 You are correct about the vitamins and probiotics however this is not a trend but how we have eaten traditionally. Fats from butter, dairy coconut, avocados and healthy oils provide all of those nutrients and probiotics you just mentioned. The real fad is getting it all from a bottle of pills.

Aside from proper rest, water, and exercise health is about supplying the body with healthy foods. Healthy foods will supply all the needed components of nutrition that you reference. Understanding or knowledge does nothing for health...rather it matters what you consume.

    Reduction of junk food cravings is exactly what any eating plan should be based upon.

    Your acid alkali balance will regulate itself if you give your body the nutrients it requires. By snacking on healthy fats and cutting carbs and proteins to just what's need it, you are stimulating your body to actually do the work necessary to acquire its nutrients. The advise healthyfitmom gives is the healthiest option you can find anywhere. Check the Rosedale diet.

  • @menderfire9 nutritionist speak in circles, if everyone did what you say, we would be in opposition to what another nutritionist says. ive been taking the coconut oil daily for weeks now ive lost like 5 pounds my lower abs are popping out and my skin is clearer, i get complimented on my skin tone all the time now, plus i dont think about food all day, much less binge. your stuff doesnt work. sorry. if it did america woulded be so damn fat.

Just because I disagree with folks who focus on busting cravings doesn't mean u know where I am coming from. I 2 use CO daily, eat lg variety of raw veg, Wild Salmon, grass fed meat, seeds, lots of ACV. I follow my body type menu. I don't have cravings. Been eating well all my life. I am now almost 70, have never been to doctor except to give birth. BTW, I cook for sick elderly ppl & I make them well.

  • It looks like you tongue is coated with white stuff and you have dark eye circles. Try raw vegan. Maybe your mind will get a little sharper and you won't talk so slowly. Good luck.

  • @koaislove Sorry but Raw vegan almost killed me I ended up in ICU for 2 weeks. Vegan is a moral diet and not a diet for ultimate health. Not all foods are good when raw and cause digestive and endocrine dysfunction. I have never in my life seen a vibrant & strong looking vegan. The few that look ok live on supplements from a can because there is no way they can get what they need from there unhealthy diet. There was never in history people who survived on raw vegan food.

  • from the way you are describing, I think you're on atkins diet?:) me too. my secret to stop hunger is drink hot tea. it tricks your stomach and your body gets the feeling that you are full:) try it and it's very satisfying and you won't feel bloated:) and also tea is zero calories;)

  • A lot of people 'comfort eat' because today we are greatly subject to stress, tension, anxiety, and boredom on an daily if not hourly basis.

  • I do this too. I had a *huge* problem with binging. I would binge for days. I still have those moments were depression overtakes me and I go for nasty food. What I do is if I want crackers or pretzels I eat them with lots of butter. This stops me from eating the whole box because the butter will satisfy much more easily than the box of crackers.

  • @healthyfitmom Wow I binge too I can go for weeks without eating junk and then one day its like my brain says you are gong to the store and you are buying a coke and chips and you will eat every last bit... and I can't stop myself! ugh! that is such a good tip about eating it with butter, and I will be doing the coconut oil thing, I just don't want to experience too much die-off of the bad yeasties all at once.

  • You only get food cravings when your body has been denied proper nutrients. You can eat as much carbohydrate as you like but you will still have food cravings because carbohydrates don't supply the necessary nutrients in the amount that the body needs.

    If you switch to a high fat low card' diet then you can say goodbye to food cravings.

  • I eat lots of fruit and never have cravings. We don't need to trick our bodies by eating fatty foods or more protein when it's the simple sugars we crave. Eat fruit and lace up the running shoes. Then eat some more fruit.

  • Excellent!! I love brie! Stock is perfection. I just started making it, I grew up on MSG. Just got back from the asian store to buy dried fish flakes for fish broth, nearly all the crap in that store has MSG in it and it says clearly on the labels because they know no one reads it, or cares. I will try the cashew butter, I soak the nuts first, then roast them and make my own butter but it needs to be refrigerated. I do take coconut oil, just made an interesting tapioca pudding out of coconutmilk

  • You can find it at your local health food store. If they don't have it you can search amazon for unrefined, extra-virgin, 100% pure coconut oil.

    Lots of folks are recommending Nutiva brand Coconut Oil because of its taste. I have not tried their product but I think I will put in my order when my stuff runs out. They have great bulk prices.

    Do a Google search for "Nutiva".

  • Switching from nonfat to whole milk dairy products has done wonders. I can't stomach the coconut oil but started drinking 1/2 cup of canned coconut milk instead. I can go 3-4 hours without feeling hungry. For someone who gets hungry an hour after eating, this is great.
