1975 the year I graduated from high school...I thought this album was their best. Practially wore it out! This song brings back so many great memories. The whole album does...ELO brought rock and classical to a new level. Rock On!
Listening to this song I understand why I thought wheen I was a teenager it is one of the best ELO albums. How they contrast classic and rock voices, fusioning them; how they pronounce the instrumental transitions, making two of them in a second like at 0:54. What a beauty.
I severly injured my leg many years ago, sold my car bought a bike to make it recover, many nights riding my bike home , it was this song in my head that pushed the pedals. Awesome....and my leg is fine thirty years later.

never seen them live but seen some concerts and got almost all of there albums on vinyl been a fan since about age 15 and still are Jeff lynn is simply one of the best composers and produsers
this is very new to me. i was in the subway one day and heard these guys playin music...they sounded so much like the Beatles(I mean, really) and the lead vocals were great. Then they started playing THIS song which at the time I've never heard before.I fell in love with it right away.I approached them when they were done and asked who wrote the song and now I'm here. awesome song by an awesome band.
@jokerjunior2 I saw them right after the "Time" album was released. By that time they were kinda going with a catchy top 40 style. They were still awesome but I liked their "New World Record" and "Face the Music" stuff better.
@Stevetheperformer i saw them do the time album to in philly at the spectrum. i agree by then they were changing alot. the new world record album was great. and so was out of the blue. i saw them do that tour to in philly. 1978 or 79 i think.
OMG.... i loveee this songgggg i coulddd listen to it over and over and over againn :D (8) holdd on nightrider, baby, hold on, you're a nightriderrr (8) how did ELO comee up withh this kindd of stuffff It is... The singer and bass player of this song, Kelly Groucutt, just died on Feb. 19, one day after Edhi Handoko, an indonesian chess grandmaster whose Elo rating was 2,520. If there is a god IT must have some sense of humor.
@You got that right....well behaind the Beatles.....but then the Beatles were a huge influence on Jeff Lynne...and can you believe ELO is not in the rocka and roll hall of fame!! Talk about a disgrace!! They should definitely be in!!

at 3:14, the string part in Evil Woman can be heard backwards
CDEFoxtrot 2 years ago 2
3:16, but yeah - definitely noticeable.
AlexRGravlin 2 years ago
Actually, the string part in Evil Woman is what's backwards. This is going in the normal direction.
ChrisK42 2 years ago
That is what I was trying to say :)
CDEFoxtrot 2 years ago
Well, sort of, but it was the other way around. Nightrider had the string part going the right way. Evil Woman had it recorded backwards.

It sounds evil....HERE:
Take this Avice:
1. put your finger on your nose
2. hold your breath for 5 seconds
3. say the name of your love
4. that person will ask you out on the next Friday
5. you will have the best day tomorrow
6. if you don't copy and paste to 2 other videos you will have bad luck and die in 2 days
