  • Sarah Chang is a Korean who came to America at a very young aqe. She is very famous and classic. She is kind and very confident in her words and about herself.

  • @suchoi1958

Sarah Chang did not come to America at a very young age as you quoted....In fact she was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on December 10th 1980. Her parents are Korean who emigrated to America. sarah has never in fact lived in South Korea, although she has visited there many times. You can always use google search and Wikipedia for any research on any subject.

  • she is SO HOT!! GOD WHY???

  • @BFL0W ok.......

  • Beautiful

  • "it's a technical nightmare! but a funn piece to play"

    you're musicallly spoiled :P

  • Sarah is the the ancient Hebrew word for "princess, ruler" and the modern Hebrew word for (woman) minister. A beautiful name for a great artist and a beautiful lady.

  • Sarah Chang...*getting down on 1 knee*...will you marry me? *taking out a ring*

  • @zucchini2007 I think shes already married. Good try though, I give u credit for that

  • @LucielStarz123 She's not married, but maybe she has a boy friend. :)

  • @LucielStarz123 She's not married, but maybe she has a boy friend. :)

  • she's such a joy to watch her play and talk,i feel like I know her lol and her smile kills me

  • good to get a little insight into her wonderful life. BEST PART WAS THE PASSPORT!

  • Such a great interview!!!! I watched her perform the Brahms Concerto w\ the V.S.O I thought is was the most powerful performance every played by anyone!!

  • Lol I use to do that... put pictures of friends and family in my violin case :)

  • does anyone knw what violin case she uses ? :D

  • Sarah Chang could have been a great doctor or lawyer but fortunately she chose the violin. She plays intelligently & doesn't distract from the music. She's most beautiful while playing even though she's certainly very attractive otherwise. Why do all of today's violinists use a shoulder crutch? Eugene Fodor made fun of them. Heifetz disallowed them. For a long neck? Paganini had a neck like a giraffe yet never used one.

  • That violin is amazing....!! And it looks like a viola..! lol its huge compared to her.

  • She is so good at what she does WOW... and her soul and heart is so pretty and i wish she was my wife I fall in love with her even more when she is playing her music wonderful

  • i already love her as a violinist, and now having watched this she seems like such a kind and humble person which makes me admire her even more

  • I love you Sarah!

  • Every time I see a video of her I get more and more excited for her performance with the LA Phil on the 24th :) can't wait to see it!

  • I just found her last night... She got a new fan... The way how she talks is just lovely. For years, the violin was not my favourit instrument. But that has changed. Due to her and another Lady from Italy who is the violinist in the Band of Max Raabe. Yes, I am aware, he perform another music. But it seems, there are some people, who are grown together with their instrument, like it is a part of their body. I can't say more than I admire this young Lady.

  • She look like one of the Korean singers in this vid...lol

  • Her violin is an oldy; i dream more of Sarah and you cannot do such mistaken' ! She's a dream with a dreamful carreer behind !

  • Wow?

  • what was the name of the concerto that the guy wrote for Sarah Chang.

  • @kuvhlubkojibleegxwbo The concerto was called Fantasy and it was by a composer called Christopher Theofanidis

  • @kuvhlubkojibleegxwbo

I was at that concert ( Barbican 2010 ) and the concerto by Christopher Theofanidis which Sarah played was awful and was panned on youtube and cannot be found there to be viewed anymore which is no loss at all !!

Pick of the night was the Franck Violin Sonata and also the Elgar Salut D'Amour.

  • Chang's pianist should be a person of Color, not just another boring privileged straight white christian male. People of Color, specifically those of African heritage, are marginalized in euro classical and should be getting these jobs.

  • @dawg00000 Or Korean or Japanese or Chinese or Hispanic. Chosen by talent, not by anything else.

  • @whitedogsrule, We need to remedy the racist past (and present--not quite as bad, but almost as bad).

  • @dawg00000 Unfortunately, Western European classical music is dying quickly in the USA and not quite as quickly in Europe. However, it's alive and kicking butt in Japan and both Koreas! Interest is growing in China, too. So, it will be carried into the future by people of color, if Asians count as such.

  • @whitedogsrule, You are partially correct because Asians hae been brainwashed by straight white christian males. However, their children will be enchanted by the beauty, subtlety, grace, and charm of hip-hop and then euro classical will be moribund among Asians too.

  • @dawg00000 Hip-hop? Just another form of degenerate American Cultural Imperialism.

  • @whitedogsrule, Communities of Color around the world have produced hip-hop, not just ameriKKKans.

  • Comment removed

  • @dawg00000 @dawg00000 Oh, wow, thank you for your racial emendations. Aren't we past that? Why should you decide what person of what race should get a job? Do you realize what a pretentious clown you sound like?

  • @FieldMarshalB, Past racism? Pehaps you are the clueless one.

You need to read your Malcolm or Cornel.

  • @dawg00000 I would no sooner read Malcolm X than David Duke. What I am sure of is that there is something wrong with a person whose first impulse upon hearing beautiful classical music is to inject identity politics into it. See, identity politics is the source of racism, not the remedy.

  • @FieldMarshalB, Identity politics is the beginning of your redemption. And equating Malcolm with duke is a hate crime. I hope you don't live in ameriKKKa where such evil remarks are outside the law.

  • @dawg00000 Are you daft? While the US can't really be called a free country, as we do not own our bodies and cannot choose to smoke a joint, and we are no longer allowed to own any but the most feeble weaponry, and we no longer enjoy the right of due process, one of the things we still do have is freedom of speech. Even if we didn't, how would you arrive at such a conclusion? In your world, any criticism of any minority's work is "hate?" Your views are deranged, and you've been brainwashed

  • @FieldMarshalB, At least you're enlightened about the repressive status of ameriKKKa outside of free speech. You're wrong about free speech in ameriKKKa. See how much free speech you have at work to criticize workplace policies. See you on the welfare line.

  • @dawg00000 I believe that you are misunderstanding the whole concept of rights, as it was originally written, and from the viewpoint of natural rights as a limitation of things the government can do to you, and was never meant to have relevance to what private individuals or organizations can do to each other. Therefore, your workplace can fire you for criticizing it, but couldn't lobby to get the government to enact a law that made it illegal for you to criticize it and put you in jail for it.

  • @FieldMarshalB, No. I believe that u misunderstand. Your _government_ fires government workers 4 criticizing the government jobs when it concerns supposedly official duties. Try criticizing policies of your ameriKKKan government job by sending out a questionnnaire amongst your fellow employees, or by criticizing a government affidavit if you're a government lawyer. Your government censors whistleblowers. The idea that natural rights limit only government action iz phony in ameriKKKa.

  • @dawg00000 And, no. Identity politics is the road to ruin. Collectivism is the genesis of all destructive ideologies, from the Nazis to the Soviets, to early racism in the American Continent. All can be traced to collectivist philosophies. Great for gaining power over the peonage, great for abuses and Balkanization, horrible for freedom and justice. Individualism is the only chance for the US or the world to ever be free.

  • @FieldMarshalB, ameriKKKa is a mosaic of rich and diverse peoples, or collectivities, if you will. That's why the boy scouts can exclude gay men in homophobic ameriKKKa.

  • @dawg00000 Of course, I have nothing against gays, but I do believe that the Boy Scouts are a private organization, and should have the (natural) right of freedom of association. South Park did an episode that I thought nailed it. Of course diversity is fine, but I am speaking of the whole political paradigm. The more base, primal impulse of collectivism vs. the more enlightened and refined perspective of individualism. And I guarantee you, collectivism is the genesis of most organized evil.

  • Always very interesting to hear comment by Sarah about instruments

  • Always very interesting to hear a great artist like Sarah Chang and her opinion about master pieces of violinmakers: Giuseppe del Gesu Guarnieri, tested with little fragmen of Max Bruch 1st. viol. conc. Remember that Paganini played one and also the owner befor her, the great Isaac Stern. She has a tremendous repetoire, but ther is piece without any comparisson: GLUCK: "Melodie"

  • "I could live out of my case ... I could basically survive with everything I have in my case ... I've got music all the time.." Doesn't mention anything about typical necessities. This woman lives and breathes music, it's absolutely all she needs.

  • I went to the Barbican to see Alex Proir and his 4 prodigies

  • OMG I LOVE HER! BABY I LOVE YOU I LOVE YOU!!!!!

  • @BlueMoonLightDreams

Sarah Chang is a wonderful gifted Violinist and very nice person. It annoys me so much when people bitch and snigger at her talents, pure jealousy and often blatent racism are behind it all.

  • @lovesarahchang WHAT??? ah...i love this woman too? i love her talent if i was anywhere near her standards i will not doubts and marry her, thats if she wants to marry me hahaha but anyway why u saying this to me? and racism? i fucking hate those fucking white disgusting pigs! racists human cancer.

  • She's absolutely beautiful!

  • Gifted. Beautiful. Sensitive. Soulful. Intelligent. Educated. Why are these Hollywood dimwits more famous than her? Why?

  • @misslanvin Because Ms.Chang has class, something the Hollywood dimwits are unable to obtain !

  • Hey Lee.. add TWO ZEROS and you'd be closer.....That's right, TWO zeros

  • Her violin must cost so much money!

    +$10,000.00?

  • omg....I'm in love with her and her violin too!!!

  • I always enjoy her interviews. I find that she has many interesting things to talk about.

  • Hottest woman on the planet.

Keep your pop stars, I like musicians with class and talent.

  • hey wait a sec, woods it's just hitting a ball!! nothing to do with her..

  • @25736600 First of all, she went to Honk Kong in April and Secondly, if you knew Sarah Chang better, you would have known that her brother's name is Michael (so you wouldn't need to use all the xxxxxxxx).

  • Despite all this anti-Sarah Chang bash, she's one of the best players in the world today. I went to her concert four times in the last twenty years, and only Hilary Hahn (nearly) impressed me as much in overall talent and precision for female players.

  • I saw Sarah Chang at the Barbican tonight. One word: breathtaking!

  • I am very lucky to meet Sarah on the back stage after she gave a concert in Hong Kong. She autographed on her CD. She asked whats my name...I said xxxxxxx. Oh,you have the same name as my brother. She wrote..to xxxxxxx, with love Sarah. I love her play and she is one of the greatest violinists of our time....just like heifetz,Menuhin,Milstein, stern in the 60s. All the best Sarah..hope we will meet again someday.

  • @25736600

    are u kidding?

she got a concert in HK in Feb?

Her Bruch concert in HK should be held on April!!!

  • thanks thanks thanks for posting!

  • mkeysou812 that is ^^

    dunno why quote didnt work

  • Sarah seems so nice and sweet. I wish I could meet her...

  • she replied to meail..YEAHHH..I asked her whether her violin was the master's early work, since hers is the only del Gesu made before 1720. here's what she said " Thank-you for the sweet email. Yes you are absolutely correct. It is the master's early work. I found it through Isac Stern before he died, it's a true gem"

Hope you guys are enlightened. :)

  • YOU ARE SOOOO BEAUTIFUL AND TALENTED AND JUST AN UTTER BLESSING TO HEAR PLAY. i have been playing for 15 years, im 18 right now and you among Itzhak Perlman are my pure inspirations. • Thank you rigoja93!

  • I've heard Chris Theofanidis's viola concerto performed at University of Houston, but not the violin. I wonder if they are separate pieces.

  • You are sad. I wonder what happened to you.

  • Huh? no clue what you're talking about..sorry

  • OMG, she's so beautiful.

    Serpent

  • she's so.. adorable!

  • oops, sorry.... I mean 'specimen'.

  • Can she sing too? She has a beautiful speaking voice. If she could only sing half as great as she plays the violin, she'd be a perfect species of a woman!

  • me too.. She is so nice.. I actually was able to meet her!!!!!

  • Sarah Chang is very charming. I would like to be friends with her.

  • live in london on 12 FeB 2010 ..WTF you are talking? now it is only 2009......are you on cocaine?

  • No. She's going to be playing there.

  • I want that violin. I mean, I have a pretty good violin, but DAMN.

  • She has a beautiful heart and soul, that's evident! No wonder Sarah Chang's talent is so awesome!

  • Nice voice too!

  • Who is her lucky beaux?

if so.. it's her brother.. i watched a korean show called 황금어장 and she was a guest and she shows her case

  • she's so modest about the fact that she has worked with the biggest names in classical music, i like

  • You're lucky to have that violin... we're lucky you have that violin.

Pretty bow, sounds good too... ah, but does shoot arrows?

    I'll get my coat...

  • I'm just asking how much it is, I didn't say that I was going to buy it. read carefully,

  • how much is sarah chang's violin

  • 3 million Dollar 1717 Del Gesu but Stern had her to mostly perform it off than pay it off and alot of her family helped out with the money. I just asked her that question 30 minutes ago. :)

  • what, you know sarah chang. are u just a fan or a close friend. or family.

  • No...sort of a friend/ Fan because I see her almost every year with the festival that I am at...she has this meet and greet type of thing every year in my city and I ask her questions and things...nothing to big.

  • where can i buy bows like hers? where in the internet, because here in the ohilippines, the bows sold here are either carbon fibers or those normal woods that are china made, pls help me...

  • her bows are 19th century Dominique Pecatte

    They're like $5,000+

  • ++*

  • Does anybody know what kind of case that is?

  • looks like a concord elite.....

  • what is the pieces that she's talking about.

  • Sarah,

    My Darling,

I love you so much that my heart is filled with hope and love.

It was once filled with jealously and hatred, but when you came into the picture,

I opened my heart and let you in. Trust and believe in me, I will take you to my heart,, deep inside my heart where we can share happiness forever.

  • Hehe you just made me giggle =)

  • I adore her. She is so nice too. I once sent her an email and she replied.

  • OMG! That is so cool! Can you give me her email address? She is amazing, both in terms of her music and her personality!

  • I think you can send her emails through her website there is a Q & A section. If she is ever performing in your town try to hear her she sounds amazing live and very nice and gracious in person if you meet her afterwards.

  • Moestube: Thank you. This is useful information.

  • omg what is her email address!!

  • torlean: Sarah uses Twitter, which she updates regularly. Go search for her! Anybody can follow her!

  • finally she made a new video

  • why isnt her violin known as the ex-___???????????? normally allviolins like strads and Del gesu's are known like that..

  • I recently asked her if she'd ever seriously considered another career. She said, "Maybe for one day, but not really." Knowing what I do now I'd say she probably had that thought at age 6.

  • of course, being a violinist, you need hard, detailed work all the time. I really wish Sarah would get enough personal time. from the video of her 6 old performing, we all know how much work she had being put in. I noticed Sarah keeps a long nails in her left hands in this clip, how come? or I was wrong?

  • The short answer is - because she can!

  • nonsense, you didn't give any answer.

  • Sarah Changs violin is one of the most beautiful isquisit violin on earth...

I prefer Guaneri Del gesu because it has a warm rich tone quality with a suttle warmth........

I really admire sarah changs playing because her technique on the violin is isquisit above her level when she was a kid

AND RIGHT NOW I'M GONNA SHUT UP...

    LOL I'M SORRY....

    I'M REALLY WEIRD SO THERE....

    HOW DO U PEOPLE FEEL

  • very detailed information about her violin and bows...wow...

  • it must be amazing to be with her in the same room speaking to her and looking at her violin and bows etc. that closely :):)

  • well, I was for a moment in the same room with Sarah, after I saw her perform last year, she sat in the lobby signing; I got her autograph. I allow no one, even myself to touch that page on the program she signed, as there is a trace of her body oils where she rested her arm to sign her autograph - IS THIS HERO WORSHIP?

  • She is very sweet in person isn't she? She was so gracious when I met her.

  • agree with you. if I were you I probably would do the same thing. I want to keep that trace of her body oil too :) Sarah is a lovely and amazing girl.
