People who sign on to the armed forces--VOLUNTARILY--then decide that they made a mistake are NOT 'resisters'. You can't compare these people to those who fled conscription in the 1960s, who really had no choice. These 'resisters' probably wanted the scholarships and whatnot that accrue from military service. Then, they found out that out that (shock!) it's about killing people and/or getting killed/maimed. Just send these idiots back, to deal with their own stupid mistakes.
It takes the utmost of personal integrity and courage to speak out against something. These are not cowards. These are the stewards of peace and justice. These men are the most bravest of men. A coward would hang his head and pull his trigger.
There are more Canadians who oppose the US invasion of Iraq then there are who support it. Over 1 million people have been killed violently in Iraq as a result of the invasion. These soldiers who stand up for moral integrity and for justice are to be commended. They are the ones who will ensure a bright future for our children. They will ensure that people will not die in the name of money and greed. We need more war resisters! Soldiers have a moral obligation to disobey unjust orders! THANK YOU
there are many Canadians, (Like myself) who want to go to Iraq and do their part. Yet our government doesnt wish us to go there. I'd be more then willing to go in the US army for training, then to Iraq under the name of an American who wishes to reside in canada for the duration of "my/his tour" Once "my/His" tour is over, he can then go back to the usa and me back to Canada, nobody would be the wiser. Thjere are many who would do the same here in Canada.
Bite Me! Caveman, I'm more Canadian then youll ever dream about. 1984 olympian, Canada Games athlete! 6 generations Canadian!Including Jakatar Canadian Indian heritage. Comments as yours just show you as two things;(1) A dumbass caveman,(2) a dummy who tries to stifle thoughts of others, despite our, (Canadians) beliefs in allowing all to speak their minds and have thier own beliefs. Maybe you should leave, I doubt they'd want you south either, maybe Afghanistan would be a good place for you!
If you know people in the military who want to get out please have them call the GI Rights Hotline who will help them with Conscientious Objector Claims and more... 800-394-9544
