Lucy Lawless doing Xena kind of stole the thunder of any WW reboot. Any remake of this iconic DC heroine that doesn't bother to work with her true origin as princess of the Amazons and modernizing all that mythology isn't really gonna fly.
When hearing that Wonder Woman was making a return to TV screens the other year, one of the names I heard a lot of, was Rose McGowan to play the lead. I've never heard of the person who they finally chose (maybe she's quite well known in America). Rose to me would be a much better choice, hope they dust the script down and try again, with a director who would actually put the effort into making the show, as the trailers I've seen look terrible
it's not the costume that counts, it's what's in the costume that matters. So far all the women suggested for the part of Wonder Woman were too skinny, small boobs, narrow hips and linky legs. Wonder Woman is supposed to be a curvacious Amazon babe, with lots of curves, in all the right places.

1. If a trailer doesn't give an story hints and it's just flash most of the time the movie sucks.
2. Not every freaking thing translates to other media. I don't give a crap if 75 milion people tuned in to watch it WW was a 1940's comic for a reason. On JL unlimited she's great...live action that mess is corny. Especiallt to today's more demanding less imaginative audience.

Very disappointed! NBC(Nothing But Cancellations) has already made me very angry that they cancelled a great show, "The Event" was a terrific program, and they pulled that away with a extreme secrecy, so I am not suprised they didn't have a good explanation for the WW cancelation. Oh well, maybe we'll get a movie instead, which would probably turn out better acting/writing.
Who cares if they try again. I wanted to see David E. Kelley write Wonder Woman! But I can totally understand why NBC had trouble finding room in the schedule. God forbid they don't air Law and Order five days a week. After NBC cancelled Studio 60 I decided it is against the law for NBC to have shows on that are original and smart. NBC even advertised they ripped off their stories from the headlines.
you can watch the entire pilot on the internet. Because the show was not picked up the special effects and wire work were never cleaned up. But even ignoring this roughness the show is awful and misses the entire appeal of this character. Wonder Woman uses her fame for cash and then actually kills one of the bad guys.
i like the actress i do not like the new costume or the writing and pretty much everything else david kelly and his team attempted to do. I think if a new pilot gets the green light i think lynda carter should be involved in it (not as her old character of course) and i think WW writers from DC could help a lot as far as story. The people who did Smallville could have done a better job. Remakes and re-imaginings need to look at this failed pilot and learn - some things you just cant change.
Part of the problem with modern society is that the truly beautiful and talented people never get out of the gate. Only wealthy children that are on the inside of political and show business families are considered. The best of them do not match the gifted naturals that come from working families. Acting coaches, medical enhancement and special effects make them stars!

It is far more basic than you're making it out to be. Its the costume. They fucked it up from the beginning, brought in another fucked up version and then people ask questions as to why it doesn't work? STOP CHANGING THINGS THAT WORK!!! The original costume was fine so of course they had to mess it up by putting unneccesary pants on it. Thats what defeated it from the beginning, early press shots of a new and stupid costume. The actress was a decent choice I suppose.

The direction and the story was so bad that it pretty much had nothing to do with the real Wonder Woman and what she stood for. They turned her into another "Independent Woman Tuff Bitch" girlly show. This show would of disgrased the creator of Wonder Woman. He would of sued. Wonder Woman was tuff like the guys, but she was supossed to of been loving and careing.... like the creator's mother... who he based it off from. I'm glad they canceled it. Plus they weren't going to have the JLA show up.
NBC didn't want to spend the money. The show was going to cost far more than they wanted. It would be cheaper to go back to a whole week of Dateline NBC every single day, which has been their problem for over a decade.
Hollywood's original ideas to come to a tv near you - Hulk, Spider-man, the Flash, Cheers, Seinfeld, Friends, WKRP in Cincinnati, and the Cosby Show. You studio guys really earn your money. Thanks.

The point has been made that Wonder Woman woudn't torture someone. I think that was left in because David E. Kelley (whose Bostin Public I liked a lot) wanted to equate her with "America" and incorporate an ugly policy. Didn't work. She has the lasso of truth in the hospital room and could easily slip it over the bad guy and get the info sans torture. A Joss Whedon version of WW would have been great because his heroines are terrific.
Robert Singer should have stuck with it. Or Joss Whedon. I didn't care 4 the new version. I only liked the breast plate and did not like the spandex bottom. Or whatever you call the tights concept. It's kinda hard to replace Lynda with her classic wasp waiste. And season 1 outfit and spin did not cut it. It had such potential but the writers eventually killed it. She needed to scrap and fight (female) villiass not entertain Steve Trevor. I would have like to see her fight Catwoman. POP!!! Whack

I watched the pilot and it was TERRIBLE. Adrienne Palicki wasn't bad as Diana, but the writing and directing were just bad. It made her a CEO with Ally McBeal's personality. David E. Kelley should stick to legal dramedies because he knows nothing about superheroines. Lynda Carter will always be the definitive live-action WW, and Susan Eisenberg will always be her best animated voice for her work on Justice League.

it didnt fit- was a way of saying they didnt need MORE crappy shows. The pilot was so poorly written and directed. The didnt even finish effects color and sound. As for the pants, in the last fight scene she has the customary shorts..(remember even lynda carters version had a wrap around skirt, and a cape..and undersea wear, bike riding gear and oh yeah the skatboarding accessories...but i digresss ;-)

@CalypsoCatnip I just found the acting and writing rather cheesy. It reminded me of those 90s shows, like Beastmaster (which for me isn't a good thing, not sure if anyone likes that show or not). Everything about it was just outdated in the way it was done. It would have just been open to ridicule and offering nothing but huge disappointment to anyone who gave it a chance. :/
There are things that still work from previous generations of tv, but nothing they did in this show really worked.
@elvickRULES I watched Beast Master, Hercules the Legendary journeys, Xena even that silly Misfits of Science (costarring Courtney Cox) and Covington Cross of these I think Beast Master was actually the best. MIsfits of Science and Covington Cross had potential but were done badly.

I think some fans don't know what they are saying, when talking about actors and actress, of course we all want to see a very good looking Wonder Woman and acting fantastically, but even a wrong actor/actress can sometimes do a fantastic job and a great famous top movie star (though this risk will be less) can disappoint, it's a human thing.

Why? let me tell you: the story was a ground up re-hash of "Sex in the city" with her character being a blend of all four characters. instead of Mr.Big, it was steve trevor. the succesful part: C.e.O. The mascara cosmetics company. the slut part, her super heroine persona. the lame part: her at home...

Wonder Woman is suppose to be about 2700 years old so could have been around during time of Hercules, ect. so a prequel could be in order where she fights Ares, Circe, Hercules, etc. Could be revelaed myth about her being formed out of clay and that Hercules is her father and Hypolita erases that memory.

Very disappointed! NBC(Nothing But Cancellations) has already made me very angry that they cancelled a great show, "The Event" was a terrific program, and they pulled that away with a extreme secrecy, so I am not suprised they didn't have a good explanation for the WW cancelation. Oh well, maybe we'll get a movie instead, which would probably turn out better acting/writing.

Who cares if they try again. I wanted to see David E. Kelley write Wonder Woman! But I can totally understand why NBC had trouble finding room in the schedule. God forbid they don't air Law and Order five days a week. After NBC cancelled Studio 60 I decided it is against the law for NBC to have shows on that are original and smart. NBC even advertised they ripped off their stories from the headlines.

you can watch the entire pilot on the internet. Because the show was not picked up the special effects and wire work were never cleaned up. But even ignoring this roughness the show is awful and misses the entire appeal of this character. Wonder Woman uses her fame for cash and then actually kills one of the bad guys.

i like the actress i do not like the new costume or the writing and pretty much everything else david kelly and his team attempted to do. I think if a new pilot gets the green light i think lynda carter should be involved in it (not as her old character of course) and i think WW writers from DC could help a lot as far as story. The people who did Smallville could have done a better job. Remakes and re-imaginings need to look at this failed pilot and learn - some things you just cant change.

It is far more basic than you're making it out to be. Its the costume. They fucked it up from the beginning, brought in another fucked up version and then people ask questions as to why it doesn't work? STOP CHANGING THINGS THAT WORK!!! The original costume was fine so of course they had to mess it up by putting unneccesary pants on it. Thats what defeated it from the beginning, early press shots of a new and stupid costume. The actress was a decent choice I suppose.

They turned her into another "Independent Woman Tuff Bitch" girlly show. This show would of disgrased the creator of Wonder Woman. He would of sued. The point has been made that Wonder Woman woudn't torture someone. I think that was left in because David E. Kelley (whose Bostin Public I liked a lot) wanted to equate her with "America" and incorporate an ugly policy. Didn't work. She has the lasso of truth in the hospital room and could easily slip it over the bad guy and get the info sans torture. A Joss Whedon version of WW would have been great because his heroines are terrific.

Only the 1967 pilot movie by William Dozier tops this mess or even the 1974 Cathy Lee Crosby tv movie...WW does not sell big titted Wonder Woman toys that fund her crimefighting activities. she isn't Batman. She doesn't threaten people, torture, or whatever. We want a real true Wonder Woman, not this David E. Kelly MESS! Maybe they should have gotten an actual WW writer...

I watched the pilot and it was TERRIBLE. Adrienne Palicki wasn't bad as Diana, but the writing and directing were just bad. It made her a CEO with Ally McBeal's personality. David E. Kelley should stick to legal dramedies because he knows nothing about superheroines. Lynda Carter will always be the definitive live-action WW, and Susan Eisenberg will always be her best animated voice for her work on Justice League.

it didnt fit- was a way of saying they didnt need MORE crappy shows. The pilot was so poorly written and directed. The didnt even finish effects color and sound. As for the pants, in the last fight scene she has the customary shorts..(remember even lynda carters version had a wrap around skirt, and a cape..and undersea wear, bike riding gear and oh yeah the skatboarding accessories...but i digresss ;-)

@CalypsoCatnip I just found the acting and writing rather cheesy. It reminded me of those 90s shows, like Beastmaster (which for me isn't a good thing, not sure if anyone likes that show or not). Everything about it was just outdated in the way it was done. It would have just been open to ridicule and offering nothing but huge disappointment to anyone who gave it a chance. :/
There are things that still work from previous generations of tv, but nothing they did in this show really worked.

I think some fans don't know what they are saying, when talking about actors and actress, of course we all want to see a very good looking Wonder Woman and acting fantastically, but even a wrong actor/actress can sometimes do a fantastic job and a great famous top movie star (though this risk will be less) can disappoint, it's a human thing.
I believe the most important is the story to be exciting

Wonder Woman is suppose to be about 2700 years old so could have been around during time of Hercules, ect. so a prequel could be in order where she fights Ares, Circe, Hercules, etc. Could be revelaed myth about her being formed out of clay and that Hercules is her father and Hypolita erases that memory.
