  • great song

  • I think this video was filmed at John's house

  • HOLY BEARD!!!! XD Love you Ringo... like CRAZY!!! O_O <3 <3

  • The story I heard was that Boogaloo was one of McCartney's nicknames among the other Beatles. Ringo was fed up with Paul's legal wranglings after the group split up and ripped him a new one via this song.

  • @ezandycle Don't dis Macca Man. Yoko broke up the band.

  • @cindiloohoo552 To some extent, that was probably true. But I think Ringo was pissed off over McCartney's legal moves AFTER the band broke up. Things like Paul suing to legally dissolve The Beatles in 1970. But just a year later, McCartney wrote a song for the RINGO album, so the bad blood didn't last long.

  • "Back off Boogaloo" was a phrase the Ringo's friend Marc Bolan of T-Rex used to say.

  • @Zebred2001

It sounds like Mike Bolan has co-written the track. Because of the use of octave-different voices in the chorus.

  • Paul sure pissed off Ringo for Ringo to do this song.

  • @53moreHP yeah it was about Paul..... Paul was struggling musically at the time and getting savaged by music critics before he redeemed himself with Band on the Run...

  • @53moreHP Haha! LMAO Ah Paulie and Ringo.... they're my favourites XD Aww well they're good now :P

  • @2:29 : si ves algo, di algo.

  • You may not believe what this song REALLY means. Find out at the blog SongSense.info. Seriously, I'm not trying to sell anything.

  • great song

  • GET YOURSELF TOGETHER NOW AND GIVE ME SOMETHING TASTY,EV'RYTHING YOU TRY TO DO, YOU KNOW IT SURE SOUND WASTED. YOU THINK YOU'RE A GROOVE, STANDIN' THERE WITH YOUR BOOGIE SHOES AND YOUR SOCKS THAT MATCH YOUR EYES.

  • @dragoonee

    oh. yeah.

  • @icemangcoy Paul?

  • i want that back to mono button

  • I love this song!!!

  • when they hug each other , Ringo is so tiny and cute xDDD

  • HAHAHA I love ringos sense of humor!

  • this song go hard fo real yo

  • wow awesome video XD

  • Great slide guitar by George Harrison. The solo is my one of the favorite ones he ever did, awesome!

  • It says a lot about Ringo's character that in this day and age of gangsta rappers and manufactured American Idol stars he still wants to promote the concept of peace and love. That he retains this belief at 70 is commendable. Some cynics or sarcastic snots might lambast him as a foolish old hippie for doing this, but that doesn't make him a fool.A former colleague of his who perished unnecessarily did this as well,as did a fellow many millenia ago who got nailed to a tree. They weren't wrong either.

  • Happy 70th Birthday Ringo. He seems to be a down to earth guy opposite todays stuck up stars.

  • happy birthday richard

  • Ahh! For some reason I love Ringo's solo career! Anyway Happy Birthday Ringo! Peace and Love. <3

  • Happy Birthday tomorrow !! the big 7-oh !!

  • Very Abby-road sounding drums, which makes this song for me. Right on ya mate!

  • It's all about the Rock, the drumming, kind of Lennonesque, kind of sign of the times, kind of silly, kind of fun, all things missing from todays music and cool cool without trying to be cool. Just fun song.

  • I'VE GOT BLISTERS ON MY FINGERS!

  • Wait... is the monster his girlfriend? Oh, Ringo, I love you, and whatever crazy director came up with this. Brill.

I'm also totally digging Ringo's look for this vid (no sarcasm!) The cut of his coats is very nice, and whatever the haters say, I love his beard and long hair! And that it's before he started wearing sunglasses all the time--they hide his beautiful blue eyes and I love his half grey eyebrow. :D

  • "Ringo" fans.... I hope U will check out the video for my song " RINGO ". It's a very retro video with Beatleish touches. It was done as a labor of love and with the utmost respect for the Fabs. The song and video is my attempt at putting a little bit of the Beatle spirit out there for Beatle fans. It's also my tribute to George Harrison's slide playing as well as Ringo's unique style.

    Peace,

Vinnie Zummo, former Joe Jackson guitarist

  • I can't believe this is the best selling post Beatles song wow I mean its ok, but wow

  • Mr. Ringo Starr is a LEGEND!!!

THANK YOU so MUCH Mr. Starr, for your autographed/photo, before your autograph BAN in 2008!!! AND I will NEVER sell it on Ebay!!!

  • All I Want To Do..Is Boogaloo

  • He was still on the peak of his Hippieness and ruggedness in this time, 38 years ago.

  • Ringo is my fav beatle :D

  • What is a boogaloo? I'm not doubting Ringo's mad skillz I just wanna know(:

  • @dracoswoman Marc Bolan (of T.Rex) was over at Ringo's one night and constantly used the word Boogaloo and it stayed in Ringo's mind.

  • This video is full of "Paul is dead" clues!!!!

  • Ringo + George = Magic

  • @subg88 George was my favorite. With Ringo he was so awesome. This song is so great.

  • What's scarier, the monster or Ringo's beard

  • This song speaks volumes about Ringo...

  • this is the pet of ringo?

  • It was my number one....now I know whYYY

  • thanks stawberry for this !

he is an living icon !

    comming to easton pa ..

  • @pheildcorn Back when Ringo was not so self absorbed and egotistical as he is now...

  • haha great song here

  • I wonder if Ringo has considered suing Franz Ferdinand for plagiarism on their massive hit, - 'Take Me Out'?

Back Off Boogaloo- (I Say Don't You Know)

  • hehe I doubt it, Ringo comes from a time when bands used to cover other artists songs all the time and no one cared!

  • True, but you get royalties if somone covers your song, not when they pinch your riff. George Harrison was found guilty of plagiarism for 'My Sweet Lord' (unfairly I thought), said to have ripped off 'He's So Fine', by The Chiffons. Cost him dearly. Nowadays, millions of songs later, it's almost impossible to not sound like something else.

  • @custer1959 GEORGE is next to GOD!

  • I hope so. And he sang seeing God would - 'Take So Long My Lord' . But it didn't, and we miss him so much. George was Heaven sent. God bless you George.

  • I love this song.

  • wats freaky is he is my favorite drummer and when i was lil boogaloo was my nickname....wierd!!!

    ILY RINGO!!!

  • great song. Ringo Starr rules.

  • pete best NEVER!!!

    LOVE Mr. Ringo Starr FOREVER!!!

  • @rbky04 yeah Ringo is the best of the beatles

  • Hey uncle BoogalooStein!...heheheh

Thatanks for the share J....R*I*N*G*O* baby.

  • 1972 single by Ringo, produced by George Harrison, and was a big hit.

  • Sammy, I think that was Franky at the start of the video. :) Thank you for the share. You are a sweetheart.

  • Judas!

  • Nice!

  • I disagree..his later..much later material wavering between average and awful..then again Paul McCartney who should know better has produced some diabolical offerings..Paul could write .....Ringo could write maybe only half a dozen decent toons..this is one of them.

  • Ringo is awesome i wish more people realized that he was an actually good song writer and drummer!!! by far my fave. of the Beatles!!! :D

  • well he wasn't much of a song writer but he was a great musician

  • One of my favorites...

  • LOVE YOU Ringo!!!

    MY FAVORITE Beatle EVER!!!

  • this was filmed in the house he bought off lennon...the imagine white paino place

  • Ringo and Frankenstein hugging, dancing and prancing, sipping cocktails, eating fried chicken... and how about Frank's facial reactions, flexing, and flowers? HILARIOIUS!!!

A decade before MTV, low tech to the max, this beats anything I remember seeing on that channel.

And best of all, this song KICKS ASS.

  • Ringo and Frankenstein, best buddies.

  • Herman Munster and Ringo

  • @55102 Cool twosome.

  • thanks for the comment

  • SOMEONE HELP!!!!

Who did the popular cover version of this song, sometime in the late 80's, or early 90's? It got a bit of airplay in the U.S., and had a pretty big sounding, heavy, big budget production. Cant seem to find it anywhere, or figure out who the cover version was done by? It sounded awesome. Wish I could find it.

  • Ringo had some good songs of his own..

  • Ringo was ahead of his time. This video came out in 1972. Young Frankenstein came out in 1974, LOL.

  • One of the tunes that made the spring of '72 a great time!

  • Fraud!!! Not Ringo!!!

  • Ringo's being STAWKED...

  • Ha your funny.

  • Haha no seriously yer giving the chuckles you funny bastard.

  • im the greatest :im 32 and all i want to do is boogaloo" ringo

  • "im 32 and all i want to do is booogaloo:" ringo starr

  • Showing my age probably, but this video was shown on TOTP at the time. Interesting to see it again 37 years later for the first time. Thanks for posting.

  • Ringo has a mullet.... lol

  • Ringo & Marc Bolan are soooooo cute goofing around in 'Born to Boogie'!

  • If you listen on headphones-you can hear Marc Bolan singing backing vocals..

  • Back to mono, maybe. Back to analog sound, for sure.

  • This was obviously filmed at the home previously owned by John & Yoko...You'll see a little house on the island at 2:50 which is also in the film Imagine..John & Yoko are shown having their crew bring the materials for the house out there..in it they discuss where to build it..The Beatles also did a photo shoot at the main house in 68/69. The Beatles 'Hey Jude' album used these shots..Anyway, for what its worth :)

  • If I'm not mistaken George Harrison produced this and plays guitar on it.

  • Yep

  • Is that Mal Evans playing Frankie?

  • Yes! Old big Mal Evans playing a perfect Frankstein!

  • Didn't Bolan play guitar on this?

  • Marc Bolan inspired the song because he always said, "Back off this, back off that. . . .."

  • actually Harrison played on it ,and on" IT DONT COME EASY" [SLIDE]-Ringo was relly into,T-REX ...aT THE time...

  • I'm still convinced it was written by Marc Bolan...It's pure bolan tune & lyrics

  • DOKK212 This writing of this song is accredited to Ringo Starr, it's typical of his style too. He & Marc Bolan were mates though & it's possible that he had some influence. The phrase Back Off Boogaloo was Marc Bolan's though

  • Thanx for the pleasant reply..not like some.

  • Ringo Starr - what a legend!

  • Ringo is the best.

  • Ringo is the best baatrísta of command, this song is good on Frankenstein far I like the rhythm that, Ringo is worth gold

  • The most talented Beatle by far...

  • the most talented beatle?.are you serious?I mean he's fine but..alright your opinion

  • Je vois que tu aimes Ringo Starr beaucoup très bien!!!

And if you speak English, pardon my attempt at French, but I think we both will agree

    RINGO STARR ROCKS!!!!!
