love u maxi but Ali is the only one who can sing this song with that voice! my mum had this played at her funeral by jimmy cliff but i want mine by UB40 with alis voice!
I agree this song is one only Ali can pull off, that is why HE was asked to sing it as the anthem for GOAL4AFRICA and not UB40. I am not saying Maxi ruined the song or anything but there is no contest as to who sings it better.
As a UB40 fan for 30 years I am entitled to my opinion Its not that maxi was no good,but to me only ALI can sing this song its a beautiful song which should be sung with understanding and only ALI my main man can achieve this,and i do think that Maxi spoilt the ending.

Amazing - I absolutely love this song. Maxi gives it a different vibe. He really can sing brilliantly!!!! Not dissing Ali (he's the definitive version), it's just different.

This is JIMMY CLIFF'S song, with Cocker's version next, then Ali's. No one has ever done it better than Jimmy Cliff.
