  • i Love OZZ it's such beautiful Country. I have a family in Western Ozz closely in Perth. I Waiting till I finish med school then i will pack my bag and move to Australia, the greatest ant most incredible Country in the world. Greetings from Poland BTW You have really good speedway racers Jason Crump and Chris Holder

  • Wonderful series. I watched them in Spain, while it was titled "El Pajaro Espino".It had to be Australian, off course. We want more Australian and Canadian shows rather than such Anglo-american cutural Imperialism.

  • men can be be men, but please honour your wows to the Church as much as you would to the woman you marry. Not eat and keep the cake.

  • I loved this miniseries when my mom introduced it to me. She introduced me to North and South as well. I love them both so much! :)

  • @umm6990 north and south? from john jakes?

  • I have no idea why this theme song means so much to me. I NEVER failed to watch it, every year, when they played it on TV. Its so weird, I have found myself humming this song for the past week, and just on a larck, I thought it would be on youtube. This is so cool!!

  • love this song

  • Just before my Father died in June 1983 The Thorn Birds mini series played .... My Dad loved it so much, and this music too, we played it at his funeral .....

  • this song is uplifting especially in these times we live. in it reminds me tomrrow may never come and for the days that have past it reminds of the people and the times we had together and hopefully will have again for why else do we struggle on.we forget how short life is just remember how long ago you first saw this an the things that have happened since.time goes way to fast, this song reminds you live.......

  • I always feel so calm after listening that music! And I like it!

  • Men are men. They are not God. They have their needs especially when they are young and sex is a very natural need. The fact that priests are not allowed to get married is wrong in my opinion. It was a selfish act and decision of the church in ancient time which should be abolished. Men can do a better job when they have a happy sex life.

  • @pierremiriam I could not agree more. It seems unnatural to deprive any person of the love that we are born to appreciate. Nobody should be forced to choose. Of course this Priest did stray from God but the guilt he felt was crushing. No God would ever force a man to live under such torture in my opinion.

  • @pierremiriam men are all cheats no matter what anyone says. They aren't capable of being mentally true none of them!

  • @pierremiriam totally agree with you

  • @pierremiriam Actually it was decided by Church because priets at that time (12 or 13th) behaved really badly and had several mistresses and illegitimate children. And that was the way Chruch decided so.

  • Thats true, they are happier, stronger and better

  • i saw this film when i was a teenager and wow i had chest pains watching it because i cried so match with the series. those years where the best miniseries ever " North And South" "The far pavilion" They were memorable.

  • @pierremiriam You are soooooo right my friend!! I was 9 years old when i saw this moovie and i hade the same opinion 20 years (aprox)

  • @pierremiriam Yes, and this practice is not based on the Bible. This is a Catholic tradition that has nothing to do with true Christianity.

  • is a good novel, the movie is better, but the song is the best.

  • The reason of why I like this music and this story, is because, this story makes us realize that, sometimes , if the love have no pain, it is not worth to get it. and we will never understand the beauty of love.

  • nice way to explain it...but sometimes its not really nessasary to get themselve in this kind of pain...;-(

  • This is the story of the bird that nails itself in a tree thorn to sing its most beautiful song because it knows that only with great pain it can get the best from it.

  • This is a holy movie. Not only does it transmit the Spirit of Jesus to the viewer better than everything else out there, it is also a blueprint of the human drama. It should be used as a conversion tool for Christianity. Mel Gibson's Passion has failed miserably.

  • No, this is a -tragedy-. =P

I never once got the impression to go to church while watching this movie. In fact, until Dane came in, it seemed like the entire movie was trying to pit people against religion and people who would throw away their lives for it when you should be taking care of your family, etc. etc. etc.

  • Although many get put off by the adulterous part of the movie, I find that Ralph's conflict, Dane's personality, Drogheda, and Marcini's music communicate the true spirit of Christianity better than most churches I've been to. I think the whole movie is a priceless glimpse of heaven.

  • littledeadbear ..Is a history about love . About how difficult life can be and how many different kind of love we can withhold within our heart so who we are to judge or assume about Love the church is only a building the real temple is inside us so no I dont need to go to church .. a tragedy ? a tragedy is so many priest being a paedophiles ..that is a fact .. so please get real .. religion ? you got all the answers inside you .. and yes Family always comes first .. grow up !

  • Grow up?

    Are you kidding?

For stating my own opinion, that I didn't feel the need to go to church after watching the movie? That I felt this movie was scorning the old, harsh traditions, and instead opted for just plain love instead?

I don't think you got what I was saying. I don't think you read it right.

I meant it was a tragedy in a theatrical stance. Meaning, the heroine and protagonist never get together in the end.

You, my friend, need to stop jumping to conclusions. =)

  • This is a beautiful video--The movie was the best I've ever seen, I've watched it many times. I loved all characters in this movie; and, the musical score is simply outstanding!

  • Bryan Brown without a shirt...gorgeous!!!!

  • Is James Gallway the soloist?

  • I hated in the movie Raplph for how he tortured Meggie... Change love of real person for someone who maybe does not exist! Well, if he decided so, at least he could let her peace, but he could not... Selfish man. Wanting the both caused tragedy. But beautiful movie, and Mancini s melodie is great.

  • I have to disagree. Richard Chamberlain is a classically handsome man physically and in demeanor it seems. He was superb in his role as Father Ralph.

  • The entire score is so beautiful.

  • I've never seen the full movie because I've always been afraid that it was too emotional for me. But I remember when my mother was watching it and the great music was always in my head and helped me to stand the most disappointing moments of my life.

It's amazing to see that mankind can be cruel and stupid and on the other hand can create such great kind of music.

  • Csodálatos!!!!!!5********

  • My favorite music over the past 20 years. Thanks a lot!

  • is there anyplace I could purchase the sheet music on the flute for this specific rendition of the chart? thank you

  • this movie is one of my favorite movies of all time. and this music fit the movie so perfectly. I can close my eyes and see them walking to the cemetery and this music playing. The music just pulled the emotion from you. The ending broke my heart. I agree with charminsouthernbelle what a serenely beautiful song for a heart wrenching movie.

  • AAAAAAAHH..Mancini!

  • Szép zene !

  • can some one pls tell me the name of the melody

  • I read the book by Colleen McCullogh and thought the story absolutely fascinating and gripping from the moment I read the first page. I've downloaded this particular piece of music by Mancini on iTunes as well and may purchase the dvd soon

  • my favite file.I like this very much.Thank you for let me remembering a lot.回憶 記得

  • Meggie's Theme. Beautiful song.

  • Seeing this made my heart ache for my childhood. This serie was on telly once a week when I was a youngling, and the whole family loved watching. Happy times, joyful memories.

Thank you for making and posting this video.

  • Thank you! Thank yoy very much for this film!

  • Kocham ten film i muzyczkę !!

  • There's a remarkable similarity -though not identical- between this theme and the first bars of the ritornello from the main aria in "Nulla in mundo pax sincera" (RV 630) by Vivaldi. Just as a curious note.

  • Really? I didn't know that. (Well, composers do borrow bits and pieces from other composers sometimes...and borrowing from classical is fairly usual when writing themes for TV, I think! ^_^) I just noticed how in the middle of this video the mood and the music both get lighter at the same time! ^_^ (circa 2:00) (Actually the bit from the middle to the end is almost a flute solo [with extra trills that aren't in the TV version! ^_^].) (Very nicely played. ^_^)
  • I assume that it is Sir James Galway on the

flute, as someone else already said it was

(he does play a lot of stuff by Henry Mancini! ^_^).

    =^___^=

  • not another sound like him. :)

  • J'adore cette musique, elle est vraiment reposante.

  • It is a great song, Henry mancini is one of my favourite composer. But I do not understand the video at all. frankly I still like this video, it is well-done

  • This is really nicely done...I haven't seen anyone tell the story chronologically in still photos before...I wish the video were even a bit longer (instead of shorter which is what I wish some videos were! ^_~). CUTE views of the sheep, near the end. ^_^ Nice roses near the beginning, also. ^_^ (Lots of people show the roses at the end, of course. It's nice to have them earlier on also. ^_^) The black-and-white photo of the family, very near the beginning, looks nearly real. ^_^
  • does someone know if i can get this song on the piano??? cause i'd love to learn it for my dad :D !!!

    thank you :) !

  • Can someone send this melody on my mobile number PLEASE... +420 606 628 568

This is so BEAUTIFUL heart touching...

  • what is the name of the song?

  • Performed by sir James Galway.

  • One Of The Most Beautiful Series Ever, Settled In The Amazing Ozzy Land !

  • Looks hell of a dusty to me

  • Great song and great film=]

  • i love this theme song! this series is wonderful.
