great documentary! wow i've loved david bowie but i didnt realize how much of an influence he really was.. and how he went through so much hardship and stuff
Thank you so much for this <3 This is a real gem I mean, I've read a lot and seen a lot things about David but this documentary is so good, it contains many interesting facts of his childhood I didn't know and many rare photos I haven't seen before. Seriously, I'm very happy with that new knowledge I received from watching this. Thank you again <3
Many thanks. I appreciate the way you ended each section at a logical point, rather than just cutting off randomly after 10 mins like most posters do.
Thank God he went to Berlin, once. Thank God he's met Iman.Thank God he's still alive. Hope he's very well by now and may appear again , soon .... Love !
I was introduced to David Bowie by Trent Reznor when he talked about how he influenced him, so I did a little music search, and I...THE Starman blew my mind literaly, I mean, I acknowledge David Bowie as the most important musician of our time, I love bands like NIN, KMFDM, Ministry, (HED) p. e. (my current love HED p. e!!! ), Atari Teenage Riot, HORSE The Band, Deftones, Tool and many more and I still listen to Bowie a lot, but its diferent its kinda like im doing something spiritual
As a fellow musician and artist, this entire documentary involved me nodding my head at the pain of an artist, which is an essential motivator I think. It forces a person to rebirth themselves and that process of rebirth is the art they create and give to the world. It's always my biggest question whether or not the creation truly comes from the artist or is divinely inspired. I am loathe to give this process to something outside myself but it's ironic that outside forces shape the artist.
He tried to make crazy look normal & normal look crazy in order to even up the imbalance he felt inwardly due to his brother's mental state & his genius. His drive came from his brother's lack of ability to have it. He gives his soul to us who watch. It's comes from watching someone suffer, feeling useless to do anything about it. He came into this life to help his brother & show us how to overcome adversity. He is one of the most talented human beings that has ever lived Beautiful voice & face
my mother is 61 and i am 39 my daughter is 20 we all seen david my mother saw him in the ziggy days and david jones and david bowie and i seen him all my life i showed my daghter him to we all love him and even my daughhters daughter seen to love him she sayed david as her 2 word i love him and she is just 7 can you belive that well i just love him so much and i wish he was on tour but his daughter needs him so i cant complane
@SherunswiththeVampir Add Nina Hagen and Laurie Anderson to your Gaga statement and you've hit the nail on the head.. Ga=Ga-Gag is one of the worst performers of our time and kids think she is origional *LOL*
@AngeLsLuv are you crazy?? ga ga's keeping the pop/glam/performance thing going! she could so easilly gone down the corporate r n b road- & she acknowledges bowie, klaus nomi, prince as major influences.
Just finished watching all 10 parts. Thank you so much for posting! I have been very interested in him since a friend bought me an album about six months ago and this gave me a lot of insight into the life of my idol!
Thank you for the post. I have indeed gained greater understanding of the Bowie phenom that has fascinated me for all these years. He is an inspiring artist, for all the people who feel that there is something special in his work and all those yet to find out, have a great journey and enjoy!
Great program :) I first saw Bowie w/ I'm Afraid of Americans and thought he seemed interesting but didn't pursue his music until I got his album Outside at a garage sale.. lol He's just amazingly talented!
That was excellent elfadelvento. I watched the whole thing, and loved it. I thought at first, oh boy..ten parts? But watching it...I want more. That was terrific.
