  • in Lancaster, Massachusetts we see wood frogs in large puddles in forested areas =]

  • i hear wood frogs and chorus frogs

  • Besides the peeper and the wood frog, you might also hear the upland chorus frog (Pseudacris feriarum) in March there. If you google the Virginia Herpetological Society, you can find a website where you can hear recordings of Virginia frogs, as well as maps showing where they are found. Good luck!

  • So, the high cheerping sound is also made by the woods frog or they are the spring peepers?

  • @evalewis1

The wood frogs make the 'clucking noise'. The high pitched trills that you hear are made by western chorus frogs (Pseudacris trisariata).

Spring peepers are also present at this site. However, spring peepers mostly sing during the night, and western chorus frogs mostly sing during the day.

  • @mfb99 Thank you very much, it was very helpful! We live in Northern Virginia. How many kinds of frogs could sing early March in one pond where wood frogs and spring peepers live?

  • @evalewis1

    Which county are you in?

  • @mfb99 Fairfax County, Runnymede Park. :)
