  • great composition....devotion personified...

  • Great composition.....such spiritualism in the song.....

  • very goooood

  • my father has seen the shooting of this film in bhagalpur, bihar. This scene is from bhagalpur, ganga ghat.

  • jarasandh´s immortal novel, directed by Vimal Da, with superb music by Burman Sr.

In which direction our creativity has gone??? I surprise, and how these classics are made for always.......

If she had been with jailor dharmedra, even then it would be a classic... as every one has its arguments.... all are idealists, only the situation makes them different.

  • I don't undersatnd the sacrifice if she has to spend all her youth and rest of life with a guy who is sick, old and may die sometime soon

  • Very touching.

  • o my god ya allah

how meaningful these old songs are!

    really touched my heart

  • O boatman, my beloved is on the other side I am left heart sick on this side This time please take me to the other side (refrain) Erase my name from your memory I was never known for strength of character Let my flaws fade from memory Today's separation Will remain with me even after my death Dont play or you will be burnt Says the fire burning in my heart I am a prisoner of my love I am the beloved of my beloved The edge of my dress is pulled back By each word that you utter, my dearest

  • OMG, beautiful. God bless you for uploading this. Old is Gold INDEED.

  • I have said befoe- bellztoll has impeccable taste. 'Man ki kitab se tum, mera naam hi mita dena. Gun to na tha koi bhi, avgun mere bhula dena'

Wipe me out from the book of your mind. Did not have any good points, please forget my bad ones ...!!

    GENIUS LYRICS

  • immortal claasic gem .even the whole movie !

  • the entire film - last frame included - is a timeless classic. May God bless all who made it possible.

  • Another gem, great one.

  • That is the beauty of the hindu culture... To love someone spiritually instead of physically, where love is equal to worship. Todays actress and producers should be shame of themselves. Just exposing nearly naked in sake of money.... Todays Indian film is just a big shame to the whole indian culture, they followed the western cultures but the western societies never followed the indian cultures. jai hind

  • Dude! Where is the connection between hindu culture, money or western influence in this video. Why not include all Indians and be patriotic rather than divisive and communal.

  • This movie greatly disturbed me when I saw it in my childhood, it somehow defied logic that someone should stay in an abusive relationship. The other choice that kalyani had was a young doctor, a better future, a more handsome love without any strings attached, relatively purer and more fun. She choice the idealistic alternative, an illusion of a higher concept, although it was proven to be weak and inconsistent caught in her own of idealism which has self torture as a part of it Bandini indeed.

  • Sounds like you found this to be an "effecting" song. Not sure if this song/rendition somehow raised more questions or not, but I hope that it at least helped provoke thoughts. Good luck!

  • what is the meaning of zukervati? effecting as in cause effect?

  • This is a superb situation with the best locaton in the scene. A man, some times cannot change the destiny. Relationship, if true, from core of the heart can never be broken. This is a strange philosophy & written DESTINY. So see the life,as it is .And what is inside you, remains the same. The relationship always exists. The scene will remain with me for ever, i watched NOW.Feel spellbound. The artistic skills in all the fields are professional & no words to explain 4 this professionlism. Thanks.

  • Dear NewEye2Word: Most of the songs were picturised in studios, in the B&W movietone times, based on the existing Hollywood models. Hence most of the "sets" followed a certin pattern, if you see more films you will understand(Pyaasa, etc) Hence the names also were in English, to lend the character. Also there is nothing like an Indian. We are Hindus who tried to accommodate everyone into our country, but most of us are now disillusioned and fed up, and prefer our nation to be a Hindu country.

  • Below mentoned my comment was in reply to grace 475. I watch this song quite often and I like it..

But, I could not understand one thing::

This is around 50-60 years back and then also, In this song that particular scene...hardly there would be anyone understanding english and its a small tea stall still the name of shop is GOODLUCK TEA HOUSE..Why Indians have mentality of keeping english names of even small shops..Why are we not proud of our cultue, heritage and language..Why?

  • I love this song...every time I listen this..It vibrates my heart..Wonderful song

  • Beautiful song on sustainibility of love. We can never suppress true love and it will bring to the person we love, no matter how much time, distance and other things come in between

SD, Ashok and Nutan, Bimal are absolutely brilliant.

  • Thanks for uploading this great song. Can you upload the movie in parts also? Where can we see Sujata and Bandini?

  • nutan is just about alright but, this role was tailor made for meenu ie meena kumari, she was supposed to do it;she'd have elevated the film and role to stupendous heights....she should have been there instead;

  • jiske liye jo hota hai..use vo mil jata hai...kiske liye kya tha..kaun kya karta...kise kya milta aur vo kya karta is par nahi balki isko dekhna chahiye...ki kisne us role ko chahe vo zindagi mei chahe film mei...jo use mile use vo bakhubi nibhana chahiye...

do not regret on who should hv get what...it was never theirs...so they never got it..

Life is to go with what you get and never to regret on what u dont have..

  • s.d.burman saheb, and s.d.burman saheb. what else. thanks mate

  • Nutan, Ashok Kumar, Dada Burman and Shailendra. This is a classic. Filmfare performance by Nutan.

  • it is reallty great effort by the composer & good collection forever

    hariom madan

  • The best thing about S. D. Burman's music is that all his compositions still sound fresh and contemprory. His use of indian musical instruments was exemplary.

  • awesome work by S.D.Burman that is it

  • actually, I think it's:

    Mujhe Aaj ki Vidhata

    Mujhe Aaj ki Vidhata

    mar ke bhi rahta intizaar

(It probably should be 'Aaj ka', but who's going to argue, given the rest of the song?)

  • It is not and should not be 'Aaj ka'.

    And it is not 'Vidhata'.

As I said it is 'Mujhe aaj ki vida ka'.

If you look for the meaning of 'Vidhata' and 'vida ka' it will make itself clear. If you need I can provide you with the meanings.

Further if you listen carefully there is a big difference in 'ka' and 'ki'. ;-)

    Take care

  • yes, that sounds right. I stand corrected.

  • it is aj ki vida ka, vida means to see somebody off so he says i would have waited for this (Aj Ki Vida Ka) see off day even after death.

  • gun to na tha koi bhi, avgun mere bhula dena...

what is the line after that? "mujhe......." cant make it out...please can someone post the next line here?

  • Here are the words

    Mujhe aaj ki vida ka

    Mujhe aaj ki vida ka

    Mar ke bhi rahata intajaar

    Mare saajan hain us paar

    HTH

  • That's perfect :0)

  • Thank you for posting this. One of my favourites, and very hard to find.

  • I wish I could add more to what other listeners have already said. The late lyricist Majrooh Sultanpuri said in a function organised by Bimalda's daughter in honour of Bimalda and Sachinda, that Sachin Deb Burman created his own school of music which nobody could ever copy, hence it just vanished after his demise. So very true !

  • gun to na tha koi bhi , avgun mere bhula dena.... one of the gretaest song ever composed :)

thanks for uploading this song on u tube :)

  • love this song....

  • sd burmans voice is also wonderful in the song " suno meri sathi re" in the movie sujata during the very brief romantic scene w/ sunil dutt & nutan.

  • yes sandhaeliya

i too love that song "sun meray saathi re"

the picturization of that song has an ethereal environment.

plz do let me know if we can see that song on you tube.

  • Burman da's immortal voice...so rustic..also gr8 performance by Dada Moni and one of the most talented actresses of Hindi cinema -- Nutan.
