Hydro dams cause flooding, wind turbines present a range of issues when near residential areas, solar farms are restricted by cloud cover and prohibitive start-up costs. Canada's oil sands are presenting serious health risks to communities downstream. I think the way to go is to have small-scale systems in each dwelling to ease stress on the grid and pocketbook. Rainwater collection, small scale solar/wind, and a woodburning stove in the winter is what i use.

Also if you look at the global climate graph, global CO2 levels go up AFTER global temps. (800 years or so). Al gore's 600 000-year graph doesnt show that little detail.
@maluorno You are right and wrong. The trigger is a temperature increase for whatever reason, ranging from the earth's orbit or a hole in the ozone layer. Nevertheless, it is this increase in temp that causes the oceans to release more CO2 and that is where your hypothesis falls. It is a cascading effect. We humans have directly avoided the initial temperature trigger and have increased CO2 production. I look forward to your answer, I find discussing these things interesting.

@in8chro you're missing that completely undeveloped land is being removed at an accelerated rate AND that land which continues to be undeveloped actually now has a large carbon footprint. Mine-extraction & clear-cutting is counted as "not developed" because it isn't a farm or a city. Until someone does put a farm or city there.
We burn off more CO2 from industry than volcanoes do in a given year.
Special exception for giant supervolcanoes but we aren't seeing any yet.

I've seen a fairly convincing presentation showing what most of the warming data conclusions are based on, and it seemed to me very one-sided, overreaching, and ignored some glaring variables.
Then there were all those leaked emails of people saying how the data gathered didn't portray the emergency situation they wanted, so they needed to re-work the study...

Also if you look at the global climate graph, global CO2 levels go up AFTER global temps. (800 years or so). Al gore's 600 000-year graph doesnt show that little detail.

@maluorno You are right and wrong. The trigger is a temperature increase for whatever reason, ranging from the earth's orbit or a hole in the ozone layer. Nevertheless, it is this increase in temp that causes the oceans to release more CO2 and that is where your hypothesis falls. It is a cascading effect. We humans have directly avoided the initial temperature trigger and have increased CO2 production. I look forward to your answer, I find discussing these things interesting.

solar panels and wind energy are so costly, they're barely worth it, or are not worth it in most situations.
I want things to be green and nice like any liberal, but I don't wear rose colored glasses.

Cooler temperatures were measured, and it was thought that mankind was responsible for it. There were dire predictions made. CO2 levels following warming, not the other way around. And since Al Gore was totaly wrong about global warming, we are now cooling, you all changed the name to global climate change. Human/breathes: Earth/Climate Change. Get it? As long as the Earth is here it's climate will be changing. We exhale CO2, it is not a greenhouse gas, in fact CO2 encourages plant growth. 1) Recent warming follows CO2. In the past tiny shifts in the earth's tilt and orbit (Milankovitch Cycles) have slightly warmed or cooled the planet. These are regular and predictable. Slight changes in the earth's orbit led to dramatic changes in climate. Why? because of the feedback effect. Recent warming is not connected to Milankovitch cycles and comes AFTER a CO2 rise.

All aerobic life excretes shit too - and if we had too much of that we'd be in trouble! It is not the natural CO2 that is the problem - it is the additional CO2 caused by burning fossil fuels that is warming the earth. We know that the amount of CO2 is increasing because we can measure it accurately. We know where it comes from because of it's chemical signature.

Half-truth and |myth
Humans emit more than 100 times more CO2 than volcanoes. Volcanoes also emit particulates that temporarily cool the planet by reflecting sunlight back to space. This temporary cooling lasts only a couple of years. CO2 lasts for thousands of years. CO2 levels have been fairly stable over the whole of human history - until now.

Yes, they have but this is how we know how different the world has been in the past. You were quite right to point out that this was before humans existed - the climate , temperature and atmosphere have only been suitable for human life since we evolved. CO2 levels have been at about 280ppm ever since we evolved (with occasional dips during ice ages). They are now at 390ppm.
