The Vtec on VFR's work a little different than on a car. It runs on 2 valves per cylinder, and then on all 4 when vtec engages. While in a car, the motor runs on all 4 valves, but when vtec engages, the cams switch to the larger lobe and push the valves down further for more air flow, and gas of course. I have a VFR and the vtec kicks on these harder than any other vtec i've ever felt, (b16, gsr, h22, k20, etc)....if i were to even compare it, its similar to a K20...times 2 =)
@superdancdc007 nooooooo i like that music, really with the background sound of that beatifull v4, just saying that if u remove the images and the music ... u will think that is not a vfr and its a gp bike :D
I remember my first day of riding lessons and what my instructor said.
Dont worry about your speed, just stay safe and withing your limits. Unless there is police, then look at your speedo. The best part was that he was a retired cop.
Hey dude, What about if some of my buddies got together with some of your buddies and we could re-shoot that homo-erotic volley ball scene. I could get my hair done to look like ice man (Val Kilmer) and you could skip off and jump on the VFR in the background. Oh, I'm nearly 50 and about 240lbs. Instant youtube hit, d'u rekon?
@dhmtnbikeman boost like car yes, but not like car. Car has variable valve timing. Bike works on 2 valves til about 6,000rpm then on 4. 2 valves is for torque. 4 valves is to feed the horses. Wooowww neddy.
It all depends, if you have the gas whacked open in the straights, you can certainly feel the kick, it pulls like a raped ape! Over in a corner with a small throttle opening, it is almost un-noticeable. I have also noticed with my 02, it is more noticeable with ethanol gas, there's a hesitation. I usually run non-ethanol if I can find it.
It's not the same tech. Similar feeling it goes from using 2 valves to 4, but the mechanism is very different. The VFR uses oil pressure to move a pin to activate the v-tech and it kicks in about 7,000RPM depending on the year of the bike.
hi all, my dad have a VFR Vtec from '09, before that he had a VFR Vtec '04. The first day i went on a ride with him, i almost went off the bike 'cause of Vtec, the acceleration is awesome. i don't know why did honda took off the Vtec on the new VFR 1200, the worst mistake they made. Superdanc, nice vid, and make some nice trips on that MONSTER!!!!
I just got an '06 VFR...lots of fun, & I like the VTEC kick. The riding position took me a bit to get used to, as I was used to a more upright position; but it's a matter of using your core muscles & squeezing the tank a bit with your legs to keep yourself more upright & get the weight off your hands. Then it's no problem.
I've had that problem myself. I either need to invest in some leather racing pants, or some tank stick-on grip pads, Jeans are not conducive to comfort!
And the VTEC is such an ass kicker! I can't see why people complain!
Yes you are right ... this bike has more potential than that .. I am not a highly experienced pilot And especially I want to stay alive. But you might as well go fuck with your stupid comment
Don't worry about it...there are always 'super-drivers' out there that think that they can do better if they had the same vehicle (which they themselves can't afford). Ferrari owners get it all the time. "I can drive that Enzo better than you". Blah, go back to your trailer home with the 4 kids and the rusty pickup truck...lol.
All VFR since 2002 -2009 are Vtec and on 2002 the vtec stat at 7000 rpm, and It's very funy, the feeling is like a turbo, great sound and more power... but onder 7000 rpm, this bike is very freindly to drive, The most negative aspect of this bike too much weight on the arms and hands The position is a bit too radical. But this bike has all qualities to drivelike a competition bike.
i agree with what you said. i tested this last weekend and found it a lot of fun and good to ride but under 7000rpm it doesn't sound too good and thats puting me of abit. looks great though!!!!
This bike is wonderfull onder the rain... over 40 miles/h you are dry... no rain at all execet. feets. Onder the wind, not bad... but the windsheild is very good for the driver. I had a FZ6 2004, and the VFR was mutch better...

WTF, the RPM was at 10,000 and 11,000, and it seem like a moped...is the VFR that slow?

Love the bike , i'm gonna buy one hopefully this summer . Red is the right color for the VFR , Black is also nice.
I have a Suzuki Bandit 1200 N at the moment but i can't get used to a naked bike.
Too much wind at high speeds. My arms are a couple of inches longer after a year on a bandit. Lol

So you're saying, if I follow your math, that a VFR 800 is at least 40km/h faster than Rossi's F-1 Yamaha?
Yeah, I'm being snarky.
