  • MARK SHOULD BEING PRESIDENT OF USA WHO IS WHIT ME!

  • Can this by any chance be used with Marble Madness on Genesis?? I'm,guessing not, but its worth a shot..

  • After video of atari 2600 rewiew i really want this console

  • i have a kensington turbo mouse trackball with an ADB plug i need to find a way to get it to work on a PC usb

  • piece of junk

  • Hummm, I thought you think that was a complete piece of junk. I heard you said that while you was viewing the Wii Classic Controller and the Classic Controller Pro.

  • Cool

  • that is a atari 2600 JOKE

  • Don't take this the wrong way, but your not giving the controller enough credit, It isn't the best controller, not at all, but really, This was the 70s and 80s, what do you expect?

  • I WAS BORN IN EL PASO!!!! :D

  • Use that bad boy with Decathlon and you'll see that trak-ball in a whole new light....

  • Best thing about the old games you pretty much need to use your imagination intensely to "see" the game world. Your brain was working and there was real adrenaline fueling your fun. Nowadays everything is chewed for you, minced for you and prepared as an easy to digest compound so you might as well turn off you brain and perform few motoric functions to complete the game... That's why even best storyline won't engage as much as the world you create in your head when playing 2600 or NES...

  • @nowotnik Zork and other text adventures have the best graphics. Why? You think them up, and you can think up what they look like.

  • @TeamRocketReviews agreed. When aspect of visual responsibility in games shifted from our minds to developers studios it became a totally new era. I was thrilled playing text adventures (haha even written my own in XL Basic) yet I couldn't care less about bells and whistles in latest top-selling productions... It probably have something to do with growing up and loosing our visual imagination which is much more vivid when we are kids...

  • @nowotnik Commodore 64 and ZX Spectrum games were so creative and fun. Games like Attack Of The Mutant Camels would never happen today.

  • @nowotnik chilax granpa

  • Atari trackballs work best on the C64, particularly with the third-party version of Crystal Castes.

  • that thing is so PRO.

  • 2:41... "...and a mistery slot that you can put your finger into. Its like the painbox in Dune."

    lol

  • what about driving games eh????

  • will a collecovision trackball wokwith the atari with the colecovsion power supply in it

  • Oh look it's a Dust Collecter

  • From the way you describe this thing, it should be called "Crap Ball" XD

  • "did i eva tell you bout friend chris got on a treadmill with a sk8board boom shew"

  • i would like to see someone play sonic the hedgehog on genesis or matersysytem with this

  • I live in El Paso lol

  • I wasn't born in the Atari ages, but damnit I like them better than all this overhyped Halo shit.

  • @MrMakeman ...

Just because something old is considered a classic doesn't mean you have to bash new games.. I like old games pretty damn much, and my favorite old systems were the super nes or the sega genesis , but halo has a great storyline and solid game play, and obviously shits on the old games.

  • @AgrivatedKillah

    I don't like Halo.

I like retro games (like doom.)

    Put 2 and 2 together.

  • @MrMakeman FUCKING THANK YOU!!!

  • Wow, I used to have one of these! I used it on my Commodore 64... I used to lightly flick the buttons and they'd make this funny *boing* noise.

  • How does it work with Crystal Castles?

  • @jowrab you mean trackball mouses?

  • "She looks like she should be working at a diner." SHE DOES look like she works at a diner, LOL!!

  • I love how one can use Mega Drive/Genesis controllers on so many systems!

  • Skip ads 0:01

  • Turn it into a shell for a portable n64.

  • @IAmClearlyTheBest, what about the European Atari 7800 controller?

  • @Ollie7475 Those are like $80. Check on ebay. It is ridiculous.

  • @6Mega6Man6, I saw one that was $5.

  • @Ollie7475 You bought it?

  • @6Mega6Man6, No.

  • @Ollie7475 Do you live in Europe? because I live in the US and if I wanted to get it, I'd have to import it, therefore making it ass expensive.

  • @6Mega6Man6, I live in the US too.

  • @Ollie7475 oh okay.

  • i live in el paso too

  • Awesome review!!!!

  • try using the super trak ball and the colexco roller controoller they work just da the same

  • So, you don't like it?

  • hey do u know were i can find a Atari 2600 RF coacsule

  • did you people ever see the angry video game nerd he was talking about this pro line track ball for atari 5200 and the cord fit in the 5200 but it didn't work or any other controllers

  • el paso tx.? hey I live there!

  • I'm wanting to do a MOD to change mine to USB.. anyone know where I can find a tutorial on it ?

  • so you like it when stuff was "pro" in the title?

what about my "gravis pro analog joystick"?

  • I hate Yar's Revenge!

  • I used to own another Atari trackball. Rather than round buttons, it had rectangular ones at the very left and right top edges. The trackball was black.

  • i have this but mine doesnt say 2600 or proline but its starting to die in a way since trackball part on the switch doesnt work properly so i have to use joystick mode wich works ok but it does say on the back made in mexico

  • The games you tested this with have been hacked by the wonderful folks over at the Atari Age forums to make proper use of it.

  • get the wico trackball that what when you press the button the whole controller doesnt flop around

  • I think I prefer a Joystick.

  • Great vid. I have just picked up a NOS CX-80 trakball. Tried it with 2600 Centipede and was very disappointed. Thought my Trakball was broken through lack of use. Plugged in my 7800 and 7800 Centipede was great! That's more like it! 2600 Missile Command also very good! Guess 2600 Centipede just not that good with it. Thanks for the hints/tips. Keep the great vids coming!

  • The 2600 had A LOT of different controllers.

I wonder if it was expensive to have one back in the day.

  • WHEN ARE YOU GOIN TO DO A REVIEW OF the ATARI - LYNX

  • That trackball makes me hungry, looks like a juicy jawbreaker! yum!

  • haaaaaaaaaaaa

  • @qaizali eddy

  • The YouTube spam is pretty lame, but man, that's funny shit lol.

  • remember sega master system had a trackball? would that work on the 2600?

  • so the video doesn't work?

  • It didn't work for me, but then I put it in HD and it worked. Then I switched it back and it still worked!

  • i love the scratch thing at the beginning and then some salsa music

  • Me too, and yum, now I'm thinking of the food salsa...but I have a cold, so that makes me sad...

  • Huh. It works when I switch to HD but then I can switch back and it still works!

  • It only works when I put it into HD!

  • same here

  • Huh... It's odd, eh?

  • @MrPennysPop Huh! I feel good, nanananananana, I knew that I would, now....

  • Lol, that was random!

  • I can't say it enough u guys in Classic Gameroom are the best, I consider myself pretty knowledgeable when it comes to classic gaming but you always pull out things that I never had a clue exsisted...like the Vextrek, etc. keep up the excellent work that you all do. It is appreciated!

  • Pssh..."pretty knowledgeable" and you didn't even know about, and still cant spell, Vectrex. HAHAHAHAHA

  • dude just chill out, k

  • my bad, i didn't know that you tube had a spell checker...Dick!

  • check out dommiesan from classicgamesrevisited, hes awesemest

  • @oldscool75 well said man

  • @oldscool75 Its VeCtreX not vextrek or whatever you call it.

  • @oldscool75 You mean Vectrex?

  • @oldscool75 You consider yourself pretty knowledgeable when it comes to classic gaming...but you didn't know about the Vectrex?! Shame! ;)

  • @oldscool75 You are just correct! CGR made me get my sega megadrive fixed up and started me up with classic games again! THANKS MARK!!!

  • @oldscool75

    its vectrex not Vextrek...

How can you consider yourself pretty knowledgeable to classic gaming if cant even spell vectrex right...

  • nm... it works...

  • She looks like a Judy.

  • He does because if you watch the video where he buys a new console you see him at work editing the videos.

  • I wish my 2600's mains adapter still worked. :(

  • I like your latest reviews, true and classic. You definatly review some more of the old gaming hardware!

  • What is with Youtube lately? Mark's videos load up to 20 seconds and then freeze while it's still buffering. I know it wasn't always like this..

  • was happening to me to!

  • Pro-line?

That's almost as good as world class.

And the clothing that the chick is wearing on the cartridge is so late 70's.

  • I love ur reviews.

Anybody that can make a 7min review on a product like this needs to get paid and rewarded for their efforts.

you sould be paid by sega and nintendo to review their new products

  • Comment removed

  • No he get's a 10th of a penny per view...

  • Why was this thummed down?

  • Well he's a youtube partner so he does get paid. Although not much.

  • I like playing with my Trak-Balls...

  • @sovietchimp my girl says tha same thing too lmao ;)

  • Looks really like a fun job! xD

  • There's a modified version of 7800 Centipede that properly supports the 2600 trackball for better control.

It might only work with certain versions of the TB though. I've never tried it myself, and I'm not sure if/where it's available anymore.

According to the programmer who modified it, the original game code natively supports a better 7800 trackball that never got manufactured.

  • I may get this...if I can find a cheap one

  • Awesome review Mark

  • i got super lucky and found an actual atari2600 track ball made by atari. it works great and the ball is very responsive. found it in a swapmeet and to my surprise it was well taken care of.

  • Does it work with games that use paddles?

Since a trackball is really closer to an analog joystick than a d-pad, although perhaps it emulates a discrete joystick/d-pad and ... doesn't?

  • I had one of these hahaha, I can't even remember using it though

  • i remember a arcade game with a trackball where you had to do militairy things, like a cours where you had to run over and around obstacles (don't know the proper name of the game). but that did not worked as preceise neighter.

the first centipede game you showed looked to benefit the most from the controller. i never was good at the game :-D

  • i think her name is Velma, Mark... seriously. thanks for posting!

  • Shit the first minute of this video i thought the trackball was a console itsself

  • I had a different trackball than that one for the Atari 2600. It was heavier and a little bigger.

  • Yars revenge. You are a fly.

  • just wondering are you ever gonna do the MAG beta? its amazing.

  • I don't see how you can really spend almost 8 minutes on this track ball but I Like it.

  • Youtube, STOP REPEATING COMMENTS!

  • @Ketorulz hey what are u going to do right...

  • Petition. what else? If we managed to complain about the "code system" after excessive commenting, surely we can eliminate repetition.

  • Hahahaha you're like the avgn except you find something good about everything.

  • @ImperviousMason Sooo..he's the complete opposite. Only thing alike is that they both review games/consoles and drink beer

  • *wtf face*

  • T_T

  • Offtopic: I found the missile commando catridge artwork resembling of a much newer game, Star Wars Episode 1 Racer

  • a mystery box you can stick your finger in XD

  • are you sick your voice sounds different

  • Wont the colecovision roller controller work with it? They have the same cord

  • I have 2 atari 2600s in old shoeboxes somewhere and a ton of games for them. I dunno what happened to my controllers though, i've only got the wheel controllers with the pong logo on them.... could always use a megadrive one i guess....

  • A PRO accessory for a PRO system!

    5/5

  • Lovely reference to Dune

  • HORRAY! you went back to your old video camera!

  • @vasquez123100 He has a set of interview videos with the both of them

  • This is the second incarnation of the show, the first one with Mark and David went under in the early to mid-2000's. Since then Mark produced a documentary called "The Rise and Fall of the Game Room" that explains what went wrong and where Dave went. Mark thankfully brought the show back on his own.

  • where did you find "The Rise and Fall of the Game Room"? I wanted to watch it

  • @bsilver887

    Amazon(dot)com.

  • he was hunted down and killed by Leonerd Nimoy for killing and torturing Seaman.

  • what the fuck thats crazy it was made in my city :)

  • ATTENTION!! if the video is not working put "&fmt=5" at the end of the url, it may be in crappy quaility but it still works

PS: dont thank me thank nairbzaid, for finding this out

  • Thank you!
