  • depends on hardware on mobo even though i am a bit of a nvidia fanboy at moment i have ati and i feel ati better images but nvidia better oc. so nvidia 580gtx OVERCLOCK edition ftw!

  • who cares as long as it downloads my porn I'm happy......what

  • you to are really stupid ! and Arabian boy i using a Nvidia GT 460 but i Know that ATI cards are way better

  • you to are really stupid ! and Arabian boy i using a Nvidia GT 460 but i Know that ATI cards are way better

  • you to are really stupid ! and Arabian boy i using a Nvidia GT 460 but i Know that ATI cards are way better

  • Hey!

I bought mine XFX GTX 260 in April 2009, but now it's an old video card and I'm about to buy the GTX 480. The thing is that I can't buy the card, I wanna defect the card somehow and send it back and buy the new one. Is there a way to destroy the card so it looks like a warranty issue?

    Thx in advance!

  • @Computerlover1994

the 5970 is actually better than the nvidia cards.

i've looked at them and ati's have had better benchmarks and overall better performance.

  • @ms205 Yes it's faster, but it comes with the possible multi-GPU problems such as bad drivers, microstuttering and bad minium fps.

  • @Computerlover1994 No one thumbed up, now you feel stupid. Intel's i7 is better than most because of its stability and over-clocking capabilities. Nvidia however is not better than ATI, as ATI has the better cards out right now as benchmarks show. You do sound like a fanboy, and I bid you good day.

  • @DiDolRuChagi this is what i said can't you read i said intel is better than amd "better" i hope you understand english

  • @Computerlover1994 You, mate, are stupid. But what expect from 15 y.o. reek :-/

  • @Skeptik247 you are the stupid one the new 400 series is the best in the market right now you are the fanboy not me i tried both nvidia's and ati's vga cards and it was very clear that nvidia is better

oh i almost forgot :) go to hell you retard

  • @Computerlover1994 Quit wasting my time, prat. 15 years old fjortis from our ex-colony in Nowhere just told me "I'm stupid". You're obviously very naive, because Fermi is NVidia's worst line ever. Could you go back to your hole and stop teaching me about things you didn't ever saw?

  • @Skeptik247 it's a waste of time talking with a retard like you

  • @Computerlover1994 Your replies are nothing but whining of a little abused child, you witless arab scum. Keep dreaming about any of those graphic cards in your backward third world craphole.

  • @Skeptik247 What do you want from me i don't know if talking to me is a waste of time and if i am an Arabian scum so why are you talking to me what do you want to prove this is my last comment i am not gonna continue replying to your comments am sick of this stupid conversation

go to hell you and your country

  • Bull shit ati fucking shit, Nvidia will kill all espiclly cause of CUDA I do video editing. Ugh fuck you fan boys

  • this is how it goes: if youre rich and seek perfect quality, get ATi. if youre the usual gamer whos interested in playing games no matter what, get nVidia.

  • I can't believe PC gamers fight amongst themselves, AND with console gamers, it's like you don't want any friends who just enjoy the same pastime.

  • @HighLevelPlayer

It's a love hate relationship. . . Just like europe and America, we hate each other until there's a war and they're always together.

  • i had a nvidia card and it was fucked up and now have an ati one and it rocks!

  • i must know, does amd mobo/cpu + nvidea gtx 460 = work???

  • i thought intel was good, until i used my friends pc with an NVIDIA card. WOW gaming so smoothly on games my intel chipset was lagging so badly on

  • stupid son of a bitch.. i myself have experienced using both cards.. but no offence gtx 260 a bit better than ati 4870.. im not being biased here.. im just telling what i have experienced

im using a x3 720 (unlocked 4th core) a redfox mobo with 790 chipset on it... i tried using 4870. but im on to the gtx 260...

  • 4870 Crossfire is even slightly better than HD 5850. but 4870 doesnt support DX 11... if i were you im goin to buy a 5850 then crossfire it soon its the best bang for the buck for GPU

  • why are your vids so short? :/

  • OMG.... you call this a QnA? wasted my 50 seconds.

  • so you cant sli on a amd motherboard? I had people tell me you cant and I had people tell me you can, does anyone know?

  • @TheDman52 you can crossfire, not SLI

  • @TheDman52 As long as it has a pci-e16x2 it should run on amd or intel. Although Nvidia works better when the mobo runs dual cards at 8x each, where most amd mobo's don't support, well the 700 series didn't have many.

  • serioulsy, ati has some crappy ass drivers

  • ati is better

  • I have the 260 and it's working great. I remember when I had ATI's 9000.... god that was a horrible experience. I've had 4 Nvidia chips since and never had any problems... It doesn't matter what card you have, as long as it works for your systems and what you're doing..

  • @thiskory99

Ati 9000 was a low end card at that time

Ati 9800XT was a proper card or 9600XT

  • Actually the GTX 260 Core 216 is faster than the Radeon HD4870.

  • lol @ Nvidia fanboys. ATI has great drivers. I have a 2.5 year old 4870 and its never been bugged by drivers. Its beens stable all this time.

  • @InsidiousBoot it all depends on what game your playing

  • @InsidiousBoot, and also, NVidia's bad drivers caused the fans to stop working and lead cards to overheat and break. So NVidia is actually the company with more buggy drivers. :)

  • @InsidiousBoot

Thats meant as bad performance drivers.

I have 2x 5850 and the drivers are horrible

  • @InsidiousBoot But Nvidia is the way its MEANT to be played?

    or so i have heard....

  • Why is everyone comparing nVidia cards to the 4000 series and low end 5000 series? You're supposed to compare them to the 5850, 5870, and 5970 XD.

  • The gtx 260 is a lot cheaper then the 5850.

  • @TheMadOrc 5850 has dx11 and faster, of course the 260 is cheeper

  • one thing amd doesnt have is 3d vision and if u run 3 gtx 260s its will be a lot faster than 2 hd4870

  • @TUNA111111111111 But is it faster than 2 5870s. Or even ONE 5970?? One thing nVidia doesn't have is Eyefinity :3

  • If it was as fast as 2 5870s it would be faster then one 5970.

  • speak more fast please....xd

  • GTX 260.. One fucking reason: I have the HD4870 now and it SUCKS. Driver support is: ZERO. No support for AMD or ATI. Card crashes and refuses to work. Look this up on the AMD forums and you WILL see that ATI 5000 series cards are CRAP. People are massivly choosing for Nvidia due to this. Look it up.. I swear. Go for Nvidia.

  • Oh, that's funny, because I'm pretty sure the 4870 is a 4000 series card.

  • agree with this

5xxx support is really sad atm also thats why i dumped my ati card for nvidia

  • @MrNuun Yeah but nVidia (as far as I know) has some of the worst support for their cards. The new GTX480 apparently is also still slower than the 5870.

  • @DeltaPhi79 Yeah that's true. I'm actually using my HD5770 atm. If you remove all drivers and physx and install just the display drivers they work fine. So, you got a working good card from ATI with enough support.

  • the 480 is a lot faster then the 5870.

  • @TheMadOrc I think I made I typo. I meant to say 5970.

  • The 5970 is a bit faster yes.

  • @TheMadOrc ya but the 480 goes really really really hot and shes not ``a lot faster`` she just have like a maximum of 30% performance more

  • for only 100 more 30 percent is not to bad the gtx 5970 is 300 more and its not that much faster then the gtx 480.

  • The newer gtx 260 is faster

  • Yeah, you basically said "The HD 4870 is better." The rest was just fluff...lol

OF COURSE YOU GET A RADEON FOR A CROSSFIRE BOARD AND A GEFORCE FOR AN SLI BOARD!!! LMAO

  • I got the 260 gtx just recently. didnt want to spend money ever again on ATI.. ati's drivers have sucked for a long time.. Plus.. dont care if u have an non sli board.. Ati still sucks. I'm not a fan boy either.. I had a Ati radeon 9800 pro.. when it came out.. It died on me.. Also I thought it was good cuz Valve hl2 at the time thought it was good.. Drivers sucked then.. they still suck. Good luck ati.. but nvidia.. has more of the market. like intel. cuz they dont suck.

  • Got news for you pal, my HD 4870 has had NO driver problems since I bought it. Now that the GTX 480 seems to only be as good as the HD 5870, all nVidia did was make people wait for nothing.

  • @AvroBellow what are you talking about? 5870 is the fastest gpu on the market today,

your gonna say 5970, but thats a dual gpu card. if gtx 480 beats the 5870, nvidia can beat the 5970.

  • @rayright15

And just where did I say that the 5870 ISN'T the fastest GPU on the planet? The fact is that nVidia lovers have waited SO LONG for the GTX 480 that if it doesn't beat the 5870 significantly, it's a failure for nVidia. So you're just using "IF". I used to work for TigerDirect, I know more about VidCards than you could imagine...lol

  • @AvroBellow just cause you work at tigerdirect doesn't mean you know alot about video cards. heck, you could be the custodian and you could've showed proof that you worked at tigerdirect. GTX 480 doesn't need to beat the 5870 significantly. If it beats it by 5 - 20%, that's enough for most people, also getting support for immersive 3d surround, physx. It did piss alot of people off about the 6 month wait, but doesn't mean it has to beat the 5870 by over 40%.

  • some review GTX260 win HD4870 but overall HD4870 leading ahead

now i got HD4850 CF and its kill GTX275/GTX280 (4850 CF cheapest than GTX275/280 single card)

    =D

  • GTX 260 FTW

  • im getting new pc soon and need help

buying this card 9800 GT 1GB or 4890/70

  • @smallville0forever 4890/70

  • Manufacturer:ATi HD 4870 Series:Radeon HD 4k GPU:RV770 Release Date:2008-06-25 Interface:PCI-E 2.0 x16 Core Clock:750 MHz Shader Clock:750 MHz Memory Clock:1800 MHz (3600 DDR) Memory Bandwidth:115.2 GB/sec FLOPS:1200 GFLOPS Pixel Fill Rate:12000 MPixels/sec Texture Fill Rate:30000 MTexels/sec
  • gpureview(dot)com

  • @smallville0forever get HD4870/4890

which cheapest n faster than GTX260 even 216sp

  • @latlonelyboyz gtx 260 core 216 beats out 4870 in pretty much every single game. 4890 beats the gtx 260 core 216. GTX 275 (now discontinued) beats out the 4890 in some, and the 4890 beats it in others.

  • i know GTX275 is EOL but i really love that HD4890 coz that card cheaper/faster than GTX280/GTX275 in some game...

but if compare price/performace i will go for ATI product

  • why not get one of the newer amd cards? 5770 is a great card and it's less than 200 bucks. for the money you'll be spending on the 4890, you'll get a newer card with support for dx11 and the eyefinity stuff. unless you're thinking about doing crossfire shit

  • @cobaltdan9 i'm going to be honest. the 5770 can be as powerful as the 4870, but some of the time it comes short of memory for the resolutions it SHOULD be capable of. Gddr5 + a 128bit bus means basicly a gddr3 + 256 bit bus combo. Gtx 260 has a 448 bit bus with gddr3, and the 4870 has a 256 bit bus with gddr5. So all in all should you use the 2 older cards for all intents are purposes, they would be faster.

  • Ati cards have greater driver bugs compare to NVIDIA/Geforce but some how they have greater performance gap like their new DX11 cards with other future prof ..i already brought GTX260 its coming next week (i shouldn't get HD5770) but let me see how GTX260 far can goes..

  • @k3nzh1n082 if its a core 216, it is surperior to the 5770.

  • nvidia is expensive...

  • hd 4870 is better

  • a used 4870 1GB £85

    a used gtx260 £130(if your lucky)

GTX 260 has at least 50% more ROP's

GTX260 has nvidia Physx(check out dark void to see how cool this eye candy can be)

GTX260 can fold quicker than 4870

GTX260 can encode video faster than 4870

    i owned a 9700pro ,HD4850 ,currently own a 1GB 4870

4870 Only cost me £65 !!! god bless nvidia fanboys

  • GTX 260 is not the equiv for 4870, it is a grade lower, GTX 280 = 4870, as for performance, the GTX 280 outperforms the 4870 on fps in single card test, but fails in the twin card test, also generates 13% more heat. The 4870 is a cooler, more efficient twin card solution.

  • haha any shmuck coulda told you what this guy just did.

  • there are so many fanboys, they are allways biased, "intels better" "no amd" "nvidias better" "atis better" cant we all jsut get a long and play l4d and pop some zombied head?

  • @splice247 i agree....

  • mad respect

  • @splice247 no because l4d sucks

  • BFG gtx 260 216 OCX > vapor-x 4870... You cant really compare an OCed card to a stock card...

  • yes...cant compared stock card with OCed card but HD4870 and GTX280 too far different...

my fren got it and it pawn GTX280...

for whose got both card...can see that different

  • GTX260 core 216 is better than both :P

  • lol..

    go see other review =)

    GTX260 = HD4870

  • @latlonelyboyz

lol its not GTX260 its GTX260 Core 216

  • i know that lol

u think i dont know diff between core 216 and 192?

    lol

    i said HD4870 = GTX260/even 216 core...

go for other review then do comment here

    TQ

  • my fren got HD4870 vapor-x and it pawn GTX280 depend some game

  • @latlonelyboyz

    gtx260 core 216 is better than GTX280

    GTX260 core 216>>GTX280>>GTX260

  • hahahaha

now...i know..u are didnt know about GTX280...u said GTX260 core 216 better than GTX280? hahhahaha....

  • @latlonelyboyz

    GTX260 Core 216 is better than 280

because it has lower power consumption and

    has 55nm technology

  • go buy GTX260 216 SP then look for architecture inside...

u said 55nm?? oh no...i think u should look it again

    xD

btw..waste my time do comment here coz u didnt know about GTX280 more

    xD

  • the old gtx 260 is 65nm it has a 192 core while

    GTX260 core 216 has 216core and its 55nm

  • i think if other NVIDIA fan boy look ur comment, they will laugh at u...

hahahahah...u dont know about NVIDIA architecture..dude

    hahahahah

btw im not ATI fan boy neither NVIDIA fan boy

  • lol read my messages you moron

  • hahahaha

u dont have both card than said i moron?

    hahaha...poor guy here

go buy GTX280 than u can say me that

    =D

  • LOL GTX280 is already phaseout so i got to wait for fermi and i still got my 5770 and 260w/core 216 55nm

  • GTX260 216 SP clearly a good card but it cant pawn GTX280..

i suggest u talk to other NVIDIA fan boy

    heheheheh

    xD

  • so it means that youre a fanboy because youre saying i got to talk to another nvidia fanboy??

  • my comment clearly said im not fan boy of NVIDIA nor ATI

i suggest that because u will know about GTX280 vs GTX260 216 SP

    xD

  • @latlonelyboyz

LOL you said ill talk to other nvidia fanboy but it should be i suggest you to talk a nvidia fanboy

    to make it clear

  • i think u not get my meaning there

    nevermind

    ^_^

  • you make me laugh dood cmon haha

  • im not very good in English...

thats why hard to explain to u

    sory make u feel that

    hehehehe ^_^

  • haha nevermind, i understand you

  • I had an ATI HD3850, and I had overheating issues. I also had artifacts and other issues...

Today I bought a GTX260 Core 216, and it definately rocks. I got it for 168€ wich is pretty cheap I think. No overheating, No artifacts, and a better gaming experience. I always loved Nvidia, and decided to give ATI a go. That was my first and only ATI card I ever bought :)

  • ATI were good when OpelGL was in business. But, I got off them ever since the Radeon VE 32mb (2001).

I just keep using nVidia since the FX series :D

  • 2 GTX 260's is one GTX 295. so if you're going to go for 2 gtx 260's might as well go for 295. but if you dont want to go for the 295 and you KNOW its cheaper to buy 2 gtx 260's then go for the gtx260 instead

  • gtx 260ftw

  • Comment removed

  • gtx260 is better

  • 4870>gtx260

  • gtx 260 core 216> 4870

  • HD4870 toxic > GTX260 core 216

    cheaper alot than GTX260 :D

my fren got HD4870 vapor-x can pawn GTX280 dude

  • Can i run nice graohic, with gt260 and a 24" screen?

  • yes you will, maybe the highest graphics, its actually no problem for you!

  • ATI > NVIDIA, just look GTX295, it consumption and price, look HD 5870 comsumption and price. GTX295 is a little better than HD 5870 and consumes more. ATI owns DirectX 11 now, I think when NVIDIA launches a DirectX 11 Serie, ATI will launches a new surprise. I think if M$ launches DirectX 11.1, ATI will own it. Well HD 4870 > GTX 260, but who like NVIDIA buy GTX 260, who like ATI buy HD 4870.

  • 5970

  • hd4870 all the way

  • the gtx 260 is faster.

  • @thereddog223 bullshit! cuz this guy is a extremly good PC Guru he knows all :D

  • This was made before the 216 core version after it was made the gtx 260 became faster 4890 is faster then the 260 though.

  • I don't like my ATI 4870, I've had it for a year and even updated to CC 9.9 and when I play games on Optimal Quality, it'll mess up on the AA_x8 and gives me pixelated edges as if I has no AA turned on. Sold mine and saved up $50 more to upgrade to a GTX 260.

  • I don't get it, whats the deal with multiple video cards?

Its ass load of money to spend on for 5 more frames.

It also requires expensive SLI mobo and an expensive PSU to run all that stuff.

The only advantage I can think of is NVIDIA PhysX and GPU processed applications.

  • Doesnt mean you have to buy multiple at the same time because what if you had the really old but still good card and bought and new one? You would still use the old one for an extra boost

  • I've never heard that you can SLI 2 different cards, I think you are wrong in that matter.

  • Actually yes you can since i didnt know much about SLI so i googled it and yeah you can SLI 2 different cards

  • no he is right you can actually do two differend type's but from what iv seen if you sli the 9800GTX+ with the new renamed one called the GTS250 you wont gett really good performance *sli depends on both cards having the same scaling performance meaning that the load is devided by 50% on 1 and 50% on the other if one card is slower this will cost you results and not be good for results in gamging overall

  • I've seen benchmarks , 2 SLI video cards will only increase your performance by 4-5 fps, if at all.

  • Sorry but you have to research before you talk, normal results the performance increases around 90% with Sli/CF. For that you have to have the same graphics card!

  • Why they fuck you tell me to research if I have wrote that I've watched benchmarks.

What you say about 90% is bullshit, unless it has something to do with PhysX.

  • So why would people spent hundreds of dollars for 4~5 fps????? dude go research first than you talk...I got 2 hd4890 in crossfirex and i noticed 70%~90% of improvement ! dont talk shit

  • lol

  • agree, just buy one badass one.

  • Well, its no comparison, my bro has the GTX 260 OC.. HD 4870 outperforms it in all games.. and its still cheaper..

  • What hes saying, is either way a 4870 wins, but if you have an SLI board you sohuld get a gtx 260 if theres a possibility of adding another card

a 4870 wins out in all situations

    all

  • wooooooooooooooooooooooohoooo

  • if you want to play games in 3D, go with the GTX 260.

  • Yea i've tried the new 3D Nvision.

zomg kicks so much more ass over the old MSI Nvision stereo 3d glasses.

the old set i used to use had a 60hz limit (30x30hz iri) and it always came out as looking through a pair of tinted glasses. but it looked kick ass other then that.

But the new ones with a 240hz limit (120x120hz iri) and FA#$%ing amazing. Wide angle glasses so you can see the hole screen, The tinted glasses look is gone and so are the flashes, the DOF looks better.

    only on Nvidia

  • finally someone replies that has actually tried it, lol, and surprise surprise your not calling it stupid, probably because you ACTUALLY tried it haha

you'd tried 3D Vision with a 240 hz LCD? what monitor would that be? because I think some monitors don't scale properly, and even when advertised at like 240 hz, they can't receive a 240 hz signal properly or something..

    thnx.

  • tell you the truth im not exactly sure on what all the specs on his set up was.

it was a LED television and not a computer monitor. when you looked at his LCD panel on the desktop it looked like it was drawing an all black picture.

I think they work on 120hz screens as well 60x60.

  • seriously? it was all black with the 120 hz monitor? because I haven't heard that from people, not calling you a liar or anything, just something I haven't heard yet from people that have used the 120 hz monitor, and 3D Vision glasses.

  • The monitor that appeared to be off (other then seeing the CCFL's still glowing) was not a 120hz it was a traditional TFT 60hz panel.

The 3d glasses i have are MSI nvidia stereo 3d. they work on the old CRT style monitors and do the same thing when you look at 60hz panels. have never gotten the chance to try them with the new 120/240hz monitors but i suspect that they work.

lol but no where near as well as the new style 3d glasses. they really came out of the corner swinging with them. :P

  • oh okay, so your not using the proper 3D Vision glasses then? are you using the red & blue glasses? just curious :-)

  • i'll send you a link to the glasses i have. no they are LCD screens.

My buddy has the new style 3d glasses. He tried mine the longest time ago and always thought it was cool.

when this new shit came around. he had enough cash to buy all that super stuff and did.

so now every then and again i get to try it out. but for now myself i need to you know feed and cloth my kid+ pay her her shots and doctors visits so she stays healthy. so excuse me if i don't get the new ones right away.

  • lol, I wasn't making fun of you or anything, I just wanted to make sure I knew which glasses you were referring to, and yes your daughter's health is of course more important :-)

  • The only thing I like from AMD: the ATI cards. They're good. BUT! The only reason I think they bought ATI is because they don't think they're making as much money as Intel and they wanted to sell something else too.

  • i would have :

AMD 720 phenom II (95 watt)

    OCZ 700W power supply

this ok for XFX 4870XXX in crossfire? thanks

  • I have a smaller psu and it runs them fine.

  • I'm sure it would be fine but I would go for a quad. A lot of games these days will use a quad and you might end up needing it for 2 high end cards.

  • i have the same setup running on a 650w antec and it runs fine so yes go for it.

  • i have 450 w Chieftec , e8400 at 4 ghz , 4 gb ram gtx 260 core 216 over clocked and it works well for over 0,5 year

  • is 650W enough for a gtx260?

  • oh yeah.

  • Yeah but make sure it's good quality. For 650W you should be paying $100.00+. Cheap PSUs WILL make you cry when they fry everything in your system.

  • Keep your questions cumming

  • I have 550W and HD4870 ,can i add another video card like 4870? It's possible?

  • nah the power supply is too low, i think the minimum is 500w for 1 HD4870, i'd go for a 750w for 2 HD4870,

  • u would be pushing it tooo far posibly with no overclcking(posibly underclock) at least 650

  • depends on the rig

  • thats a stupid answer though you probebly talking about the 192sp that get beaten by th 4870 today theres the 216sp that beats the 4870 especialy at the golden sample version with the turbo button

  • rodney says the hd 4870 is faster than the gtx 260. well, it WAS. back when the gtx 260 had 192 stream processors and a 65nm die, the hd 4870 would beat it by 1-2% in about half the tests, and they would tie in the rest of the tests. well, now saying the 4870 beats the 260 is wrong, because the 260 now comes with a 55nm die and 216 stream processors, not to mention faster stock frequencies. the gtx 260 beats the hd 4870 by 2-10% in almost all tests now. i would still go with a 4870, its cheaper.

  • they are equal if you ask me. when the resolutions go 1080p and higher, a 4870 1gb and a gtx260-216 performs similar.

but there are special cases when a game is pro-radeon or pro-geforce.

  • stfu they merged fanny head

  • amd bought, and now owns ati, so its perfectly fine to say the AMD hd 4870 since they are the same company. dick nose.
