Who's the best singer, ever? You guessed it right... it's Olivia Newton-John! What a beautiful video to one of my most favorite songs, ever! Thank you for posting.
I was there, as this was filmed at my home on Starwood Ranch in Aspen. I was Olivias's wrangler. The horse was named Shadow, and had sired many of the horses on Starwood. thank you for restoring and posting this!
I remember this well, and one of my most FAV tv specials EVER! Love my John Denver, aw RIP John, and love ONJ too... and I am an outdoors "mountaingirl" at heart so... how lovely... Wish they still made tv specials like this today... ugh.
ONJ looked lovely and she STILL is bless her heart, having had breast cancer and all. She is a "survivor" YEAH!
I remember having a crush on her you wouldn't believe in my early teens, and I remember being glued to the TV when this special was on. Watching it now it's easy to see why. Seeing her as she was then still makes my jaw drop. Thanks for the restoration and the posting. R.I.P. John.
@bctvguy Beautiful eyes and a fantastic smile. Olivia was the ultimate pin-up girl for the 1970's. Remember arguing who was the best with my friends at school, Olivia or Farrah Fawcett (-Majors)! Great job on the revamp, BTW. Could you have a go at her UK BBC TV special Only Olivia from 1977 next, please!
The guy says there were three channels (probably meant networks)- then names four. By the way, the DuMont network was around since the 1940s. PBS did not begin until 1969 - the successor to NET.
UHF channels started in 1950 in the U.S. and cropped up everywhere after the FCC mandated UHF tuners on all sets starting in 1964.
Every song performed on TV did NOT become an instant hit.
And if the poster doesn't like this stuff - why does he bother to watch it or post?
Thank you so much for posting this! I remember watching this back in 1975 when I was 14. That's when the TV Christmas specials featured talent from just about every genre of entertainment. It's sad that current day Christmas specials are not like that anymore. Long live bctvguy and thank goodness for youtube. Happy holidays!
Its 2008 and I bet Olivia would still look good in those blue jeans! Thank you again BCTV! You have done a great service for those of us who love Livvie!
OMG - I can't believe it. That was my favourite Christmas Show and you have not one but two wonderful videos from that!! TY so much bctvguy! No doubt this one was digitally restored by you as well. I'd love to try to find this show on ebay. Ty for this!! Saved this one too..;_) Do you have more from this TV special you plan to post? I think many of us would love it.
Fantastic job. The greatest country music singer ever. The Nashville establishment may have rejected her, but her hits and sales still top most Country stars to this day. That says it all!
thanks sooo much for the video..love that u restored this..beautiful pic, song and of course her beautiful voice..:O)

Hey! You can't have her. She was my girlfriend back then!
I was glued the same night. Liked this and the duet of "Fly Away."
Seriously, she remains my ideal woman all these years later and there's really never been anyone to come close to her.

Love this vid. Any1 notice she almost lost footing including the 1:26 minute of the video?
edditude09 2 years ago
The slip is actually a few seconds earlier at 1:23.
If she wasn't holding on to the horse she would have gone down.
34 years ago, TV budgets were about 20% of what they are now and time was tight. Retakes were rare.
Remote outdoor equipment and videotape was relatively new. Many segments of this special (not this song) were actually shot on FILM !

It looks like she slips just a tad at 1:21 too
